so it does seem to be a geoblock issue for Malaysia. i guess not only android but also apple as well. thx for the info
anyway just surprised we got a malaysia ubiquiti thread here but nobody has mentioned this before. maybe they didn't realize this? there is an important app called unifi (by ubiquiti). This is to help detect your ubiquiti device and manage it on either your apple or android smartphone device. but due to geoblock, you won't see it at the store or at least won't be able to download it normally.
unless doing the method you mentioned (login to a foreign country account for appleid that is not under this geoblock restriction) or download via a trusted third party site like i mentioned earlier, basically
this is a demo for what the app does
alternatively if you don't use this mobile app, you can use a web browser to detect the unifi device on network and set it up that way. i have my unifi controller self hosted on a QNAP NAS using docker container what? so you order say amazon and it got delivered to your home without getting stopped at customs requesting sirim permit? if so that's good
No i order from Ubiquiti directly and use a shipping forwarder. I got kena sirim for other stuff before but my Ubiquiti stuff didnt kena although they usually will target any device with radio waves etc. If order from Amazon i think you will kena larh.
And the app i dont think its geoblock issue, its issue with TM trademark of Unifi, thats why our local distributors also have to put sticker on Unifi.

Ubiquiti has enabled this for early release network version 8.0.2. Finally got back my maxis voip again, feel really happy requests to add it were heard
What kind of issues do you mean? I’ve seen multi gig setups with pppoe in the UK that have had no issue with ubiquiti You can change region of networking equipment to USA or UK, that’s what Linus did to get 6E working in Canada
Dont think its a region thing, a lot of people who use PPPOE and have multi Gig have complained that they cant get their full speeds because UDMP doesnt have dedicated hardware for PPPOE, just software and apparently thats a very single threaded intensive thing. I am on 1G right now (so no issue for me rn) but i was research for future when upgrade to 2G. The forums i read there was no real solution other than double nat, most they are getting is 1.5G i have seen some people.

for iOS, does it require SG credit card / address to change region ? and how soon can it be changed back to Malaysia ?
You can just create a throwaway Apple account (better pick US for this) and you can just change just the apple purchase login to that first, download and then change back to your main one.
Because TM's internet is VLAN 500, would I be able to create a main network with VLAN 10 and IoT network VLAN 20 and have access to the internet on both networks?
