Been researching the whole day on alternative cards after receiving the bad news via sms by HL on Wise.
As my impacted category is ONLY petrol (mobile and utilies can use PBVS to cover) and I am looking for cc that can spend on any day any brand, I thought SC JustOne Platinum Card was a good replacement with effective CB of 3.4% (RM85 CB for RM2,500 spending).
However, I realised that HL Wise card is still good for me as it gives me effective CB of 4.29% for combined insurance, petrol [and mobile & utilities -> either PBVS or HL Wise], i.e. RM85.87/RM2,000 as shown below:-
Total net cash back monthly is RM85.87 based on monthly max RM100 cash back on selected categories minus prorated monthly annual fee of RM14.13 (RM169.60/12).
Total monthly spending is RM2,000 (RM1000 on 3 selected categories + RM1000 on insurance).
I could not find any other better cc for my petrol (MBB VS - hard to spend RM4k+ a month to get AF waive, SC Just One effective 3.4% as compared to 4.29% on Wise). 4.29% is also great for my insurance, even better than Aeon/ Aeon Big of net 4.2% if paying using PBVS.

QUOTE(kart @ Sep 9 2016, 10:30 AM) It seems that after 1 October 2016, we need to try whether the 5% effective cash back given is still based on round-up to the nearest RM or not. So, it is still uncertain whether we should ensure that the total transaction for each category should end with RM 5. If need to spend minimum RM2,000, I guess no point to purposely make the eligible category to end with RM5. Because if you spend only RM985 on your 3 eligible categories, then you need to spend RM1,015 on non eligible category to make up the minimum monthly spending of RM2,000. If you spend RM1,000 on 3 eligible categories, then you need to spend RM1,000 on the non eligible category. It's more about hitting the RM2,000. Since HL did not REVISE the part that cash back is based on round up, I would assume they still do the round up for cash back.

QUOTE(mentalkronik @ Sep 9 2016, 02:17 PM) Youre same side with me...plan looking for ikhwan cc for petrol n groceries...any idea for cc usage on sunday till thursday??? Actually, Maybank Visa Signature is a good card for petrol and groceries. To me, the set back is the annual fee and the spending of RM50,000 annually to get AF waiver. To continue to use Wise, the set back is looking for another RM1k monthly spending, be it within the 3 selected categories or not. Incorporating the annual fee, the CB is 4.29%, which is still actually good for about RM1k monthly insurance. To me, 4.29% is a good CB for insurance and not bad for petrol since I do not need to worry bout weekday or weekend and can pump any brand of petrol that I wish. Just my 2 cents.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 5 2016, 10:29 AM) Nope. Mine was approved on 14th Sept 2015 and got charged AF on 14th Sept 2016. I will be cancelling mine after getting cash back this month, so it will be pro-rated two months - Sept and Oct, confirmed by CS. The calculation will be 169.60/12*2. Wow, you called CS to confirm on pro-rating your AF and managed to get the confirmation. I thought if I were to call CS to ask bout prorated AF waiver, afraid that the CB for Sep might not come in later. Is it advisable to wait for the CB to come in this month then only call to cancel or to call now and try my luck whether they can do a prorated AF waiver since it was charged in June 2016.
