QUOTE(kawteem @ Jul 29 2016, 08:28 PM) Just called hlb cs. Apparently if we are to request for paywave card for replacement, there's no charge. But the bad thing is the current card will be blocked right away and the new card would only reach us in 2 weeks time. All is just with a one phone call. Just now, I asked HLB CS and he told me the same thing. Since we personally request for early renewal of our WISE card (to get the Paywave function), HLB has to immediately deactivate our present WISE card. 2 weeks are needed, if our new WISE card are sent via post. About 4 working days are needed, if we can collect our new WISE card at any HLB branch. ____ There is something else said by the HLB CS, but we may have to take it with a pinch of salt. For those with WISE card (which is pin and pay compliant, but without Paywave function), HLB will automatically replace the card, with the WISE card (with Paywave function), before the end of this year. The difference of this method is when we let HLB replaces the card, we can still use our present WISE card, until the new card arrives. I am very skeptical with what HLB CS said. Since my WISE card is already pin and pay compliant and complies with Bank Negara ruling, would HLB replace my WISE card to newer WISE card with Paywave function? My card's expiry date is on year 2020. QUOTE(fruitie @ Jul 30 2016, 10:31 AM) How do I know if my card is a Pin & Pay card? I got it last year's Sept. Well, if it replaces me with PayWave card then I'm OK, else without it I'm also OK. Just not sure if it will be replaced for my case. When I received my WISE card via post around November last year, the envelope has an accompanying letter stating my credit limit, and also states that I have to set my PIN, because my card is pin and pay compliant. This post has been edited by kart: Jul 30 2016, 09:33 PM |

QUOTE(LostAndFound @ Jul 29 2016, 08:52 AM) Off-topic as your main question already answered, but WISE is a horrible 'main credit card' (meaning used for general things). What's the benefit, really? Your definition of main credit card is different from mine. For me, I charge the most transactions to my main credit card which is WISE card. I have no intention at all to use my WISE card for general usage (not from the categories I mentioned). Then again, the amount of spending for general usage is lower, and is charged to my other credit cards. This post has been edited by kart: Jul 31 2016, 02:35 PM |

andrekua2,
I presume that your WISE card is not pin and pay compliant. For sure, HLB will automatically replace your WISE card to the new one which is pin and pay compliant. My WISE card is already pin and pay compliant (without Paywave function), and complies with Bank Negara ruling. Strictly speaking, from HLB's perspective, there is no need for HLB to replace my card. |

QUOTE(mamamia @ Aug 14 2016, 01:51 PM) Confirmed? Where is the announcement? If effective 1 Sep, the announcement should be available earlier, today d 14 August.. Not enough for 20 days period.. QUOTE(janson_kaniaz @ Aug 14 2016, 05:28 PM) technically if they announce next week it's still possible that the 20 days will be within next month and they only ask you to spend more and no change in categories. so no planning needed in case that's the argument. Regardless of any sort of changes to WISE card, HLB need to give a prior notice of at least twenty one (21) calendar days to us Cardholders, as per their terms and conditions. The changes can be made effective, only 21 days after the date of announcement. Otherwise, it will not be fair to us. This post has been edited by kart: Aug 14 2016, 11:12 PM |

Like most of you all, I make full payment of statement balance, by the payment due date.
Let's assume that my statement date is 8th of each month. If I cancel my WISE card on 3 October 2016, when is the latest date by which I should make full payment of statement balance (or even outstanding balance)? Is it still 28 October 2016? |

QUOTE(Wongchoy @ Sep 7 2016, 10:27 PM) Thanks for your reply. So, I have to settle the entire outstanding balance on the very day I cancel WISE Card, right? Not even a day late? QUOTE(cybpsych @ Sep 7 2016, 07:28 PM) based on other's feedback, you can transfer the earned cashback to other card's account (e.g. Mach). not sure about CASA though. QUOTE(cybpsych @ Sep 7 2016, 06:12 PM) Q: If I decided not to keep my WISE Credit Card, what option do I have? I really hope that the 10% cashback for September transactions can easily be transferred to Hong Leong CASA, after 28 October 2016.A: If you find that the changed WISE Credit Card does not suit your needs, you are welcome to switch your WISE Credit Card to another credit card. No switching cost involved. Just give us a call at +603 7626 8899. We will be happy to assist you. But, if it is not possible, maybe we can switch WISE card to another Hong Leong credit card (preferably with no annual fee), for free. Once the 10% WISE cashback is transferred to this credit card and we swipe an amount equal to the cashback, then we just cancel this credit card. Did you request for AF waiver, after AF is charged to your credit card (shown in HL Connect)? Or, did you request for AF waiver, a few days before your card anniversary date? QUOTE(MGM @ Sep 7 2016, 10:49 PM) kart n fruitie, I think for those who have yet to be pay their charged AF(like mine) or yet to be charged AF, u have a good chance of having the AF waived. I just got mine waived, and I believe HL wants to retain as many cardmembers as possible. My 2 sen. Thanks for your reply, MGM. So, for your case, after AF has been charged to your card, you did not pay the AF, and requested for AF waiver a few days later. Alright, that is a good strategy to follow. My card anniversary date is 7 October, thus I have some concern about annual fee. |

It seems that after 1 October 2016, we need to try whether the 5% effective cash back given is still based on round-up to the nearest RM or not.
So, it is still uncertain whether we should ensure that the total transaction for each category should end with RM 5. This post has been edited by kart: Sep 9 2016, 10:30 AM |

For those who have cancelled their WISE Card, when is the latest date by which you have to make full payment of all outstanding balance?
On the day of card cancellation, or the original payment due date? |

QUOTE(wyh @ Sep 10 2016, 11:45 AM) I'm not sure of this, I cancelled and checked hlb connect... Can't view my current outstanding already, required to call into CS to check. The only features left is pdf statement only. Thanks for your information. Yeah, please check with CS, on the date to pay all outstanding balance, without incurring financial interest and late payment charge. Different bank may have different way dealing with outstanding balance, after the card cancellation. QUOTE(cipher3344 @ Sep 10 2016, 12:05 PM) how if those mistakenly spend rm1999.. (eg: late post, miscalculation) HLB is very cunning indeed.u gonna lose all CB! 5% for all transaction kind of mislead as the effective CB should depend on how much u spend in those CB category! Spend less than RM 2000: no cashback Spend exactly RM 2000 (with at least RM 1000 on chosen categories): RM 100, equivalent to 5 % effective cashback. Spend more than RM 2000 (with at least RM 1000 on chosen categories): RM 100, equivalent to less than 5 % effective cashback, as spending increases. So, we have to spend exactly RM 2000, not even a cent less, nor even a cent more, so that we can get 5 % effective cashback. That is one very narrow target to achieve. With the current minimum 10 swipes of RM 50, we can choose to spend between RM 500 to RM 985, and still we can get 10 % effective cashback. The target is boarder and easier to achieve. Did any page in Hong Leong Bank website or any official terms and conditions (PDF document) mention about minimum annual income, needed to apply for Hong Leong WISE Platinum and Gold Credit Card?
Example: Minimum annual income for Hong Leong WISE Gold Credit Card: RM 24000 per year Minimum annual income for Hong Leong WISE Platinum Credit Card: RM 48000 per year The values of annual income are just make-up numbers. I am asking this question, just for my information. For sure, I have Hong Leong WISE Gold Credit Card, and is still considering whether to cancel it or not. It is the button to bypass PIN. Once the button is pressed, the cardholder does not need to key in the PIN, and instead sign the charge slip. If I am not mistaken, this 'bypass PIN' feature is valid till next year, to ease the transition from signature-based transactions to PIN-based transactions. After that, it is mandatory for cardholder to key in the PIN. |

For annual fee waiver of WISE card:
Normally, after annual fee is charged and is shown in HL Connect, the cardholder should call CS to seek the waiver of annual fee. Some users managed to called CS to seek the waiver, before the annual fee is charged. So, in short, when is the best time to seek the waiver of annual fee? Before or after the annual fee is charged? |
