not sure whether you asked in the right place but I been to one of plant where PCB assembly is done,they have about 30 assembly lines for SMT Location does not matter as long as it's in Malaysia.

they do a lot of PCB assembly for Japanese MNCnot sure whether they could accommodate student visit as I went there for site visit and meeting at that time
have you tried other companies such as NXP (formerly Freescale),and those around PJ industrial zone?
