I see...so it is problem with the drive shaft. Yes, test drove with technician from MI PJ. But they said it was problem with the steering rack so they did backlash adjustment because very hard to claim full warranty. But problem still occur.

Was the sound from your car consistent and obvious?

What actually happened to tuned engine? I saw a lot of XV owners did that at AE. Does it increase the performance?

And does it void the engine warranty?

Yup, it will void the warranty is found out by MI..

Usually is to bring out the real potential of the engine, as usually car manufacturer will choose the safest ECU mapping for their cars due to concern of different fuel quality in Malaysia & harsh weather condition to prevent engine failure.

Bro, MI PJ? Lots of owner i met did not recommend to go there due to over pack with cars and the customer service is not so good (very hard to claim as per what you mention).. Donno bout tuning but i did full piping change without tuning, from extractor to catback, when i service i ask him warranty he say change what void what only wo
Changing to catless extractor and pipes without tuning actually increase reasonable amount of hp already from dyno

Guys, just an open question. How quick is a warranty claim from MI? I'm having knocking sound on my WRX. I already went to a 3S dealer in N9 before raya to submit the claim but until today I went and follow up they told me it's usually very slow and they say if i want fast, I should go to HQ.

Does it make any difference if I go to other branch like the Cheras one? PJ HQ was very difficult for me to get a spot.

Can share what is the knocking sound like? When and how it happen? Is from engine compartment or where?

Yes, is better to go another branch like Cheras or you can go to Johor also can.. If your car is still drivable without the check engine lights on, should not be any serious..

BTW, making a claim for imported vehicle like WRX (Not only Subaru, other manufacturers also same procedure) is a bit time consuming as they will need to submit the claim report to Japan headquarters and with the claim parts ship back to Malaysia i think fastest also need at least 4-8 weeks.

It's more to suspension related not engine.

It's a popping sound from the left front top strut mount. It happens when turning the steering to the left and almost reaching full lock you can hear the pop/knock sound then when you turn back the steering it will pop again. Right turn do not have that sound. I diagnosed the car myself before bring to SC and when I was there I just tell the tech I have this problem and ask him to grab the top mount as he will feel the pop/knock sensation. Before the popping sound appear the left side was having some knocking sound when I go up ramps or drive through uneven surface with the wheels turned to left or right.

I think I will try to go to Cheras and ask to change both of the top mounts because Subaru came out with a TB about this but not sure about MI.

The car is still fairly new and it's still under warranty so I would still prefer to get it done under warranty claim in addition to that it's not easy to find spare parts for the Rex here in Sban. I've already look into the problem and did try to solve the problem myself but it's still there. The whole top mount need to be replaced. When I got the car the fuel lid was not opening also but that was a small issue I just informed the staff at Cheras SC they just lub the latch but the problem was not solve so I decided to just solve it myself.

I'm coming close to my 10K service so I will try my luck with SC cheras on the claim and wil claim for both strut top mount instead of just 1 because I don't want later the other make a pop sound then I have to do another claim and have a long wait again. I saw the Subaru TBS about this so will print it out and bring over to them and hopefully they agree to it.
