QUOTE(linkinstreet @ Jan 20 2007, 06:31 PM) Given the right tools and knowledge of the rules, probably yes. They are probably are working more on the mechanical stuff. It's just that they are making a weird step into aerodynamics, like the sidepods for example. It's more squarish, they went a step backwards. But now 1 thing intrigued me, the curvy A-arms. QUOTE(linkinstreet @ Jan 21 2007, 10:43 AM) Considering that they have one of the best wind tunnel in F1, it's blaphmeous to say that they can make a step backward on designing the car. I mean, it makes a better aero efficiency for all we know, but we don't have that knowledge. All I was saying is that they look boring that's all. Or am I getting sick of F1 altogether!! Nah. |

But I wish Ferrari will be taking the Constructors championship again. I trust Ferrari's reliability and I hope that either Kimi or Massa will take the driver's championship.
Long Live Scuderia Ferrari!! |

Yeah, Ferrari's engines are the most reliable IMO. I can't remember the last time they had an engine blowout.
Besides, an engine blowout can hardly be the fault of the driver. I'll blame the engineers. Most F1 drivers are skillful(oh yeah Kimi's skillful |

QUOTE(linkinstreet @ Jan 22 2007, 08:06 PM) shit up the redline? It's not that simple. Keep pushing the redline all the time, you'll half the engine life for real. that's why drivers have different rev settings to use during different phase of the race to protect the engine. Senna, Schumacher, Prost, are the ones that can guess specifically and correctly when to use which rev during racing. Racing is not easy as many of you here think. Get in the car, drive flat out, win. It's more complicated than that now that the FIA want's the engine to last more. (Stupid move IMO, driver will less likely to push). Hmm yeah I agree with you on that one. But still I put the blame "mostly" on the engineers for not making a reliable engine. I don't think drivers would want to hear, "go easy on the engine okay?". From what I know, they put a rev limiter so there is no need for the drivers to estimate when to use which rev in a race. The engineers and drivers work together to estimate where it is best to put the rev limiter. So the drivers won't get to the redline anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong please. And here I think Kimi will have a problem since he is not into the technical stuff. @Jackygwh: Which seasn was that? If it was last season or season before, it wasn't engine it was hydraulics(transmission). This post has been edited by tunertoobe: Jan 22 2007, 09:52 PM |

The V8s are most of the time rev limited as well to improve reliability.
Don't get me wrong, I do agree with your points. This post has been edited by tunertoobe: Jan 23 2007, 12:32 AM |

I hope that car works.
And I hope Kimi will not be taking unnecessary gamble like last time when he refused to change his tyre which had a flatspot. If he changes he would definitely still be in the top 3 but his suspension broke and he got nothing. Hope Kimi matures this season. |

Yeah the torque and reliability of the V10 did a great job for Toro Rosso last season.

QUOTE(linkinstreet @ Jan 23 2007, 10:02 AM) This season they have a Ferrari engine while the Red Bull uses Renault. Or it's the other way around. F1 teams do it all the time, like I said, to improve reliability. Yes higher revs will make more power but reliability decreases. For some races they do put rev limiter to their engines. Some teams may lower their revs when they see fit, such as when other teams are having engine failures as well.Anyways, tunertube, I never heard or seen a rev limited F1 engine before, just the V10 of Torro Rosso last season. It's make no sense at all, and remember, more revs = more power. Which is why last season all the engine suppliers raced to reach the 20K RPM mark where it was first reached by COSWORTH for the Williams, and broken at the Brazillian race with the custom made Schumacher 22K special engine which incidently, the only V8 car in history that have used the engine (Massa only got the 19.5K RPM engine that day, which made Schummi's last race seems odinary by his standard) because of rule changes. Found this article, by 1st of March F1 engines will be limited to 19,000rpm. Is this true? http://www.planet-f1.com/News/Story_Page/0...1843374,00.html have a read under the section, "V8 reloaded". |

QUOTE(linkinstreet @ Jan 23 2007, 04:43 PM) If this was MOTO GP, yes, the power from the engine is limited by the engineer (if not, you'll see them flying off the track). But for F1, there is never enough power, and it's up to the driver to make the decision on what revs to use. There is a dial on the steering wheel for this. this is called 'Short Shifting', meaning shifting the gear earlier than the intended redline. Driver's do this when not under pressure or during the closing laps of the race. It saves fuel and engine, but like I said, engineers will have nothing to do with it. Oh sorry about the engineer thing. Yes yes, the rev is up to the drivers. And that's why I said that the Schumacher Ferrari last season will be the last car that have the 22KRPM engine. I would be more correct if the engineers were advising the drivers. |

The nose of the Redbull is very rounded it seems, and so is the airbox intake on top. But other than that cannot see any significant changes from this shot.

This car will look odd on the grid with other cars. No sponsors shown?
Doesn't look all that bad to me either. |

OMG I missed the qualifying!
I was out at Subang parade. Anyone knows when is the repeat, if there is any? I'm going to PLKN tomorrow so this is the only F1 I can possibly get before I go into 3 months without F1. But I did try an F1 simulator though at Subang Parade, ING insurance was displaying there. |

QUOTE(Raikkonen @ Mar 17 2007, 05:52 PM) Snailmyx....subscribe now, regret later Added on March 17, 2007, 5:55 pm ASTRO Channel 82 7.00PM The F1 SIM, how to use? RM? Which floor? Everyone was crashing, and when it was my turn, I wondered how did the crash?? 3 people got the fastest laps, 4th including me, and we're all grown ups. Most others are kids. The biggest bummer is that, you're playing a Renault. 1st time palying a racing game with the steering wheel, I think I'll buy 1. This post has been edited by tunertoobe: Mar 17 2007, 07:42 PM |

Yes, I was able to catch the repeat.
GOod drive by Raikkonen. And that was the last F1 I'll get and I can't watch anymore in 3 months. This post has been edited by tunertoobe: Mar 17 2007, 08:12 PM |

Longer wheelbase?
Probably for better braking stability and to make it more stable in fast corners. Confirmed, longer wheelbase. Don't have pictures but I have the measurements. For the 248 F1, it was 3050mm, now the F2007 has 3135mm. This post has been edited by tunertoobe: Mar 17 2007, 09:00 PM |
