QUOTE(linkinstreet @ Mar 5 2007, 11:15 PM) He needs the right car to do that. and with the top three team drive being secured by yound drivers (bar Fisico), i doubt that. If he drives with Honda or BMW.Sauber, he might nick a rare win, but he drove neither. so the next best thing he can do is get to the podium. But don't get me wrong. I do believe that car can maketh the driver. The Williams of the old was so strong that many team said you can put an averange racer in the Williams car and he can win the world championship. And I also feel that any Ferrari driver from 2000 - 2004 can win the WDC if Schumacher was not in the team. IINM, doesn't the car setup sometimes depend on what the driver wants it? IIRC, that's what i heard from commentators on why Schumacher was doing so well but Barrichello struggled. btw, i'm not a ferrari fan. just something i heard...

QUOTE(linkinstreet @ Mar 12 2007, 06:18 PM) F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone is considering changing the points-system in 2008 in order to give race winners a bigger advantage. At present drivers who win a grand prix score 10 points, while the second-placed finisher bags eight. However, under Ecclestone's new proposal the race winner would score more then 10 points, while the gap to second place would be greater than the current two points. "With second place getting eight points it is not right that the winner takes only ten," the 76-year-old reportedly told the English press. He added: "For 2008 I will propose a change." wouldn't giving the race winner a bigger advantage make the gap wider between the top and the middle? then it'll make races become more boring towards the end of the season... QUOTE(adrian0229 @ Mar 12 2007, 06:43 PM) actually which u all prefer? actually both oso good for me... i prefer the current system more because it gives more drivers points. I've always think it's unfair that drivers that finish 9th and below scores nothing.

QUOTE(verx @ Mar 13 2007, 10:38 AM) Some races are already boring because of the current points system. The fact that there were more exciting races back then when the points system was 10-6-4-3-2-1 proves that. It gives incentive for drivers to go for a race win instead of playing it safe. Why should drivers that finish 9th and below be given points?? I think finishing 8th and getting points is already being very generous. This is a competitive sport not a free points candy store. in that case, the teams finishing 9th and below have no incentive to continue, do they? unless there's a monetary benefit to actually finish a race rather than stop in the middle...

whatever the punishment (if there is any), I hope it's no more than Ferrari's (if there was any). They had a more blatant team order than McLaren.
I don't like to see team orders but I truly understand what it's all about. It's a tight track and overtaking is extremely difficult. The way Hamilton was driving, he was more likely to crash out than overtake Alonso. That would not only cost the team points but him as well. Understandably he's disappointed that he couldn't push Alonso to the finish but I really don't think the ranking would be different if he did. We're talking about a driver who can hold off Schumacher in a faster car, what more a teammate in virtually the same car?

QUOTE(linkinstreet @ May 29 2007, 10:02 PM) FIA to listen in to McLaren radio
Okay.... if a team had dominated a race so much that their nearest opposition bites the dust, and then the FIA took back that result, that would be the stupidest and bias decision ever mind you, they haven't exactly shown themselves to be the smartest of people...
