Arrrr the dose of reality is, it is near impossible to get internship from some of this int com. Unless can get 'recommendation' from the inside......which is what I hope to get from all the O & G sifu here. Thanks for your reply.
*
Have you tried the front door prior asking recommendation from sifus here? No offense but if you're just a mid-achiever in UTP better start internship with some local O&G servicing companies. I can guarantee after 8 months you will find something worth to brag in your CV, or if you're lucky enough the company will be more than happy to hire you right after you graduate. I dont think we're at the luxury of being choosy at this current market rate.

Appreciate much advise from sifus here on way forward to get a technology/product listed among approved brand by Petronas; further to be accepted by all Petronas downstream companies (Petchem, Penapisan). As far as I know we have to go thru PD&T (formerly GTS), but is it mandatory? Can we go directly to the end-user not knowing whether the product that we intend to sell is approved or not. I was planning to bring in product and sell to Petchem and Penapisan.

No. You can work your way from PD&T, but ultimately its the asset holder or end user whom will decide whether the product is to be used in their facility. What kind of product/technology are you interested in bringing in? Downstream budget is not as big as the upstream folks, hence you need to play your cards well. I suggest, you aim one particular facility and try out a pilot to convince the owners.
*
Having the same thought as well, afterall it really up to the end user to decide to go with it or otherwise. Correct me if I am wrong, later on it will be the end-user himself that will push PD&T for getting it approved.

Going to introduce product from Germany, they do massive specialty isolation valve for Ethylene Transfer Line, Decoke Application specifically. As far as I know the instrument team will be handling this for O&G and Pchem? In my previous time working with Power Plant, Mechanical Team was responsible for all sort of valves.

Hi, i would like to know your opinion. Is it alright to call those operator and inquire them about their plan, when they want to issue market survey for specific services and etc.

Ethically, i think it is not right because imagine with countless service provider in Malaysia if they allow this practice, tender secretary phone will not stop ringing.

Then again, i would like to know expert's view and opinion on this.

After all, i still look at it as a very subjective matter. Some people might be okay with it and some is not.

Thanks in advance for advise biggrin.gif

depends on how close you are with the end-user, unless you are a regular face working with them for quite some time, then the communication perhaps is more open. End-user side also will need input from supplier/vendor/contractor for budgetary or planning purpose, but still like i've mentioned, will you be of value to them?

just my opinion

patiently waiting...in the meantime save as much, enjoy while still can & of course faster learn new skill.
Coz i know once out of this industry i cant get the same satisfaction & pay in other industry...especially in Msia. shit working culture, shit pay (although currently i can tolerate shit culture but at least the pay is ok).
ps, i still think that this industry only suited for the young/single.

im thinking of doing my own stuff or be a trader.

For those who still kicking in oil & gas, stay put and have faith. This is a good time to start to pickup new cert/skills, polish CV nicely, stay active and get involve in some O&G organizations.

That is good bro. Sit in office but getting offshore pay.

Good thing about oil & gas is the price tag was purely by the company's discretion (which in most case by the owner itself); if you really can meet their end and to make sure their business running. Because at one point i myself couldn't fathom the ridiculuosness of how my boss place the price tag.

What you're asking is too generic. And there are so many packages out there. So many epcc sub con etc. You have to be specific. For starters what do you plan to sell and which area are you interested to start off. If you have a specified product in rapid design then it's easy, other wise it's very tough.

hi vervain, i have PM u already. Thanks lot for your help
