QUOTE(Sanko @ Nov 19 2006, 01:53 PM) hehe... if no one wants it then i'll keep it. btw, if i'm not mistaken now only evga, striker etreme and bfg available for 680i. while the abit IN9 32X MAX will only hit retailers on january. and seems like czone now accepting pre order for the striker, RM1799!!!!! lol it's normal for them to hijack the price, summore they dun have competitor yet and it is pre order..i believe the 680i SLI board is good, managed to hit higher fsb than 965 (and 975 of course) but i'm not sure if it is worth upgrading unless u wanna do SLI or u wanna oc ur fsb kaw kaw i dunno if i'll be buying any 680i board or not.. coz rite now asus p5w dh is the best c2d board i ever used.. QUOTE(Sanko @ Nov 19 2006, 06:42 PM) that is one of the reason i'm trying to let it go to a better owner. cause i'm not going for any sli rig. and to wait for 650 ultra is just too long. this C2D upgrade has been kinda long for me. btw, i'm only using 73gt and only dota. lol. i guess it's more than enuff. but if i'm not mistaken P5B-D clocks better than P5W rite? in terms of FSB overclocking, yes p5b d is better but clock to clock p5w dh is just much faster.. and since 975x chipset is older and more matured, it is more stable and solid than the newer 965 chipset. |

QUOTE(siauann @ Nov 19 2006, 09:23 PM) well...i dun understand fsb oc and clock... fsb oc means u overclock ur fsb. while we alwiz increase fsb to overclock, but for some people who has extreme or unlock processor (like amd FX series, intel c2d x6800), they can just change the multiplier so that their fsb remains at stock.does u means that the allendale wrks better wif 965 chipset cz the clocks is lower..and in order to achieve high oc need to pump high fsb to get higher clock speed? im not sure though...need some professional explanation for eg, x6800 u can either choose 266x14 or 465x8 to reach 3.7ghz.. but for e6300, u have no choice but need to oc the fsb up till 531x7 to reach 3.7ghz. so in this case, i believe 680i board is good to those who believe they need a board that can allow them to reach higher fsb in order to allow them to reach higher clockspeed. and why in earlier day of c2d, people kept saying 975x is good for conroe and 965 is good for allendale? act bcoz 975 board cant go as high fsb as 965 does.. so with conroe, which has bigger multiplier than allendale, u can still reach high clockspeed.. but with 965, it is actually suit well with both conroe n allendale.. and yes, higher fsb means u can oc ur ram more... plus nforce board allows ram to run at 1T unlike Intel board who keeps the ram at 2T. but from xbitlabs review, it seems 975 chipset is a better choice than 680i board, well for now.. QUOTE(BeastX @ Nov 21 2006, 05:00 PM) over 3k for 2 processors actually (intel style glue),.. slightly cheaper than 2 e6700.. bought retail in Japan.. I mostly run linux, virtual machines, xen with windows/solaris OS. Data processing, a little video coding and some gaming yeah it is cheaper than 2 processors.. and it's glue style does limited the performance.. same case as pentium D.. but for ur work, i believe this proc suits u very well This post has been edited by irenic: Nov 21 2006, 07:58 PM |

so far i see overall results for 680i sli mobos used by XS user is not really great.. and many think it not worth an upgrade unless u wanna do SLI.

ds3 and E6400.. i recommend u to buy these simply bcoz of E6400. I used E6300 before and multiplier 7 is just too low. u need a powerful ram to hit high clock for ur c2d.. let say u wanna hit 3.5ghz, then u need to have ram that can do 500fsb while with E6400, u just need to have a ram that capable to do 438 fsb to do 3.5ghz..

LOL.. issit so hard to understand? he said that he thought intel board cant oc, is locked.. then the other guy asked him if cant oc why he can oc till 3ghz..
so i said to the 2nd guy that the 1st guy mentioned bout INTEL board with intel chipset, not gigabyte board with intel chipset.. i even mentioned before that this new xbx called xbx2 is a good overclocking board. |

another good thing bout this intel board is it's very stable and no double restart.. all my previous boards did double restart (ds3,ds4,dq6,biostar 965pt, asus p5b dlx, asus p5w dh dlx)..
and summore if overclocking fail, u just need to switch off psu for around 10secs then it will revert the bios back to default. |
