saw it in midvalley, its better than the n100, but for the same price and spec asus a8 looks even better.
its still doesnt look as sturdy as an asus, and theres a big gap beside the speaker, i guess in the pic is the one with extended battery.
but lenovo got a bunch of bundled stuff, hehe.

would i buy it?
if i can get good deal, sure.

for the same $, i'll consider this Y400 tongue.gif

nvr look at the real model, but from all the review, it doesnt suffer heat problem and has 3.5-4hours battery life, which means i can carry it around always, and type it for comfortably blush.gif

Y400 got 3 models, the core duo model 945423a RM 2888 is only a good buy if u like the specs n entry level processor for good normal performance, if u need something nicer n support vista is better way then u will consider the 945424A at RM 3388.

both difference in core duo T2050 processor which at 533FSB while another one is Cored 2 Duo T5500 at 667FSB.

others is same,
512mb DDR2 RAM
80GB SATA HDD
ODD DVDRW drive
3 USB,IEEE firewire
bluetooth
3945abg wireless

the speciality of this Y series is :
- the NOVA button that located beside the power on/off button is a embedded recovery system at which u install any windows, u can do a backup into harddrive and then u can do ur own recovery. not alike thinkpad of R60 9455A18 and 9455A53 that without windows then u unable to use the thinkvantage rescue and recovery.

- the touchpad that hidden below the upper casing is R&D from four lenovo labs around the world which from japan, beijing , shanghai and US. although the design of the touchpad is unique but it seems it lost some accuracy. but nice is the left click n right click as if u really look closely, the surface of the pad is in tiny horizontal lines that give user a good grip and is metal too.

user posted image

- the two hinge that holds the lcd is quite a better design to give the hinge more long lasting as is a screw in and the hinge is metal hold.

- the slim design n if u notice the casing is without the opener as the screw hinge will clip at the point of the exact closure.

- the ODD drive ( slot in) is quite nice as if compare to the original notebook drive that pops out, it wont make user accidentally bangs on it or too pressure the drive when try to clip the cd onto the drive, the bad about this drive is in long term there might be dust that go into it. the ODD drive might can slot in the mini disc ( i havent try before and not dare to try...hehe.)

- shuttle button which is red color that sits on the right panel is for user easily to access to multimedia functions but the software interface looks funny for me i mean didnt have that professional outlook.

the bad point
- although its slim design, but heat ventilation is rather poor than the lenovo 3000 N100 and the heatsink is not copper alike thinkpad too. but after i testrun for 48 hours, it did run on the same temperature and still ok, just u will feel some heat above the keyboard .

- warranty wise is just local warranty only or to be exact is just India, thailand, singapore, indonesia and more to be coming soon as is depend on which country did sell this model.

- the sound is louder than lenovo 3000 n100 but if talks about the sound quality is not that competent enough. hopes soundmax did try to fix this problem n try to provide better drivers. even thinkpad 2 piece speaker is loud n clear and more treble.

for the Y400 945525A the higher specs is on 1gb ram, 100gb sata hdd and also the geforce 7300 which runs on 256mb memory and is bundle with xp home edition.

Y300 that comes with the face recognition camera is the first of its kind as it not only look into ur eyes sizing but also the measures between nose too. tried with copy of photo and really cant login. the weight is just around 2.13kg with 13.3 inch vibrant view display.

overall the new y400 did brings nice specs for lenovo lineup models while they still continuing with the 3000 N100 laptops too.

*above just my comments and review, if there is mistakes, please do correct me. thank you.

at least better than acer in terms of the overall built quality (better keyboard, speaker, and casing), and best online support (u'll be surprise if u own it, u can always play w software and firmware update)
