Hello all,

Would you buy big/heavy items such as TV, washing machine from 11street or Lazada? IMHO, main attraction is the price; the downside might be the service.

Any thoughts / past experiences? Thanks in advance.

Regards,

i know how lazada works. generally lazada protects the customer very well. you have to realize that lazada is a market/platform, the sellers (shops on lazada) can be anyone.

it can be frustrating if the seller sends the item slow. BUT if the seller fucks up, Lazada will make sure the item will be reimbursed/resent

Does the delivery guy help you setup the TV stand like normally physical store delivery guy did?

Nope, they use skynet for delivery so of course the skynet guys just drop off the item. But it is really easy to install a tv, only need a screw driver.

If you want to have good experience on lazada. Buy only if the item sold and fulfilled by lazada for good experience. I have bought Samsung 7kg washing machine from them. Below market price and free delivery. Huhuhu.

lazada is quite customer oriented, so far has been buying stuff from rm 5 to rm 1000 no issue & the refund is quite fast & delivery is quite fast. whereas i notice 11th street & gemfive have hidden cost in term of delivery.

Bought LCD TV from 11 street, has been using for more than 1 year.
Price is lower than physical store at our area.
Delivery right to the door step, no frill at all!

that is the key! i buy only from well known sellers.

there was a purchase i made where the seller later said no stock. paid already but rakuten (now closed shop) refunded in full promptly.

i used to be very uneasy buying online. not anymore.

when ordering, look for options for installation, additional charge.

if just the tv stand, u can diy easy. no need installation job.

if mount on wall panel, seller will not use simple courier but send their own guys in their own van to install if u order installation.

i had one done like that, pleased with it.

as mentioned above, 11street, lazada, etc. are just platforms, a marketplace for actual sellers to take orders. pick the right seller (can be a major retailer), communicate over email/lyn pm (if seller here) if necessary (yes, u can contact seller), u won't go wrong.

i have made several purchases so far, all fine. incl redeeming discount points.

touch wood, quite trustable. I just bought a vacuum cleaner yesterday to replace my 10 year old unit and it was delivered today using zyllem. mind you shipping fee RM15! But, since service good, no complaints. used it immediately, it's really good! of course this is not my first purchase (but first big item purchase), i decided to buy higher value item after trying out smaller items. better read the customer reviews first before buying to be safe.

To purchase an expensive item at 11street, few points you need to look into:

1. Check the star rating of the buyer/ products buyers will rate the seller after item rcvd. a trusted buyers, rating would be 5 stars.
2. Drop your concerns and questions (warranty/ exchange) via Q&A under the product page.
3. Sellers may stated related details under "product detail" button.
4. There also an exchange/return policy button for u to click on. All sellers have diff policies.

So far i got no problem with 11street la.. haha

for heavy items I think they will take extra precautions.(also depending on the courier service involved). So far my tv came in nice condition.. two or three people to bring in my tv box haha.

I'd still buy from senQ or other electrical shop that provides after-sales service.
Buying from Lazada/Marketplace is OK if you can get it dirt cheap, but pray that the TV comes without issue, else it will be a hassle to send back the TV to seller.

Imagine repacking the TV, bring and drop it at the courier office. This kill the ease of online shopping.

I'm thinking of buying headphone from Lazada, which offers great discounted price.

But, I'm worry, what if, they send me their demo unit (I believe, some online shops have their physical shops as well).

I've spent more than RM30k alone on electronics and gadgets from 11street over the past 3 months including TVs, iPhones, AV receivers etc and I have faced no issues whatsoever.

Rule of thumb is always check out a seller's ratings and feedbacks first before purchasing.

Thanks for your replied message.

I'm confused with the online offering prices.

Currently, I found a seller in Lazada, high rated seller, offers a Sony headphone with 2 different prices, same model but different in color.

The red color sells RM550 and the grey color sells RM480. Both of them are RM688 in original price by Sony Malaysia.

I can't understand - is it, they have too many stocks of the greater discounted item?

grey color is common color... you can find it everywhere... while red they might tag it special/rare/hard to find color hence the price. its normal in our market. you can see this style of pricing in a lot of item.

Haha, move to new house so everything change/upgrade.

But I've been surveying for the things I wanted for quite some time including the electrical chain stores and typically they are not able to offer as low as what the online selling platforms like Lazada, 11street, GEMFIVE etc. do due to a certain amount of subsidies these platforms offer sellers from time to time.

Example: Senheng stores sells a TV for 10k in their stores but when you check the price on 11street the price of the TV sold and fulfilled by Senheng as well could be less say for example 9k. If you want that TV from Senheng and you walk in their stores they won't sell to you the TV at 9k. If you want it at 9k you gotta get it through 11street even though its still Senheng selling the item. The 1k is subsidized by 11street. Easiest way to know with 11street is after buying the item, the tax invoice issued, the price stated is usually higher than what you paid for. The missing balance is the subsidized amount by 11street.

Only home furnishing and renovation fairs like HomeDec and BigHomeExpo are able to rival online selling platform prices as far as electronics go especially TVs.

9 years ago I bought my plasmaTV by going straight to small electrical shop near my house. The model I want was not on display but the owner said as reseller they can order easily and sell me cheaper than retail price. To save on cost, he said pay cash is better than CC. E.g if I recall correctly the RRP is RM4,899. I paid RM3,900 cash.

That time, online marketplace like Lazada doesn't exist yet. That 42" TV still serving me well until today

Mind asking which brand your plasma TV?

I did purchase a 4k tv from Sound Master Marketing on Sept'2016.
Not much to complain, received delivery on the 2nd or 3rd day after payment completed-no issue so far. Delivery by Gdex. Of cause you need to check with them through whatsapp before making any payment to them. Do PM me if you need their contact.
