LOL king apanyer ni...

My prediction is maranello is going to be front runner for this v8. Looking at the way he train for hundreds worth of laps now he must understand the v8 physics already.

My money is on maranello to win the Sepang race. Eh, kita ada race schedule for tonight kan? I must attend this one. C'mon guys meriahkan susana.

Yah, putting pressure on opponents is the perfect way to start a season. C'mon dude you have all the limelight on your shoulder. Hail the new champ guys. rclxms.gif

To win a race requires what one call a race craft capability, ability to craft a race depending on circumstances. You can do a fast lap all right, but what about doing a fast lap but not really using the normal racing line? You see, the ability to switch to a different racing line and still know the threshold braking limit is what counts in the race. This help you to overtake and correct mistakes without losing much time. This also mean you can brake late even when you follow behind a car since you already know several track markers for example kerb, road skid marks, signboard, grass, building, elevation changes. Track this changes by driving slowly across the track or watch your fastest lap replay and remember where you brake and what is in the view at that time.

Furthermore, every track is unique, so play with FFB settings and sensitivity as well as deadzone. Calibrating the equipment to your comfort is the way to make yourself comfortable learning the track.

btw, maranello what is your fastest lap ( I mean race distance load )?

Ya...im gonna let u believe that im really under pressure... tongue.gif

Race craft...no doubt...thats y we are all here.....to master the ability to know to pit or not to pit when ure stuck behind a slow car, to know where to dig on the second sector when ure already down on ur first, to let the car behind just overtake u on that corner so u can take it back on the next two corners, to take a different line into the hairpin when u late brake after a manouvre...These are the things that we simracers live for.

The best move to me is the heart in the mouth manuover Hakkinen pull of on schumi with zonta in between as they approach Les Combes in 2001. Still a hair raiser. Hakinnen knew his limit and he wether or not he can pull that off. Schumi didnt even thot that he already close it on mika. Those subsonic manouver, split second decision making is something to marvel....for a very2 long time....a mark that he knows the track and car soo well....and raw guts...

I leave my FFB or deadzone at a fixed value every race....so that when i do chnges to the car, and it feels different, i know that its the setup...not the controller. How do u do it?

The race with the bots this afternoon, a lap after the first pit stop i clocked a 2.10 flat...but i always feel that the car steers beautifully compared to when i practice in the server...feels sooo understeery....evern though the rules are all the same with the server...I dunno la..

How about u man? Wuts ur time?  You and all the rest is keeping it low...aku sorang jer poyo2  tongue.gif ...i know that for fact that you all are faster.... tapi tak menunjuk macam aku...tongue.gif

Ryugan...still down? No one except me in the server now...
*
First I calibrate my controller just as finetuning my style after I have finally got the setup right. After the setup is right, I know that for this amount of braking I need certain type of sensitivity to correct that one final lock problem in say one particular corner for example. I''s more of a preference call, if you are comfortable with your way, then don't do to many changes to equipment settings.

My time race, I have to say somewhere in between late 2.09 to late 2.10 with decent fuel load. The problem is how many laps I can push with that pace is untested.

I have not drive this v8 for a while, so expect laptimes to tumble in the region of 2.11-2.12.

There's no need to keep any information low, it's just that I haven't put that many miles in the car yet. But will do so when I have the time. Right now concentrating for the upcoming FSR race in Bahrain schedule for today.

Wish me luck, hopefully I will qualify for the 24 places reserved only for the best tonight.

Sorry guys for my absentees in the previous test race. My broadband got some problems. Seems my connection stabilized as for now.

As far as the race schedule I hope we can get full attendance. I have done a quick new setup on race last night. I have a good setup but my tyres wear very quickly as the temperature rise is uncontrollable. I can get 2.08.9 lap 1, lap2 2.08.7 lap 3 2.08.5 and after that maintaining 2.08 throughout for several laps until I see the tires temp rose up to nearly 130 degrees and make my car skidding all across the tarmac.

Will work around that problem and share the setup if you guys badly in need of one. I know madnoren for sure doesn't need one as he has ace in his sleeve.

Quali time will tumble.... smile.gif All my 'bakar' effort is not in vain.... biggrin.gif

You see I'm not good at quali setup, my quali pace is not far off from my race pace. So far only manage a time of 2.08.324.

So what about you have you manage to break into 2.07?

I have a question, does rake angle have any effect on downforce for these cars?

Sometimes you are just quick and you knew it. As for me the handling of these cars are unique and requires a lot of time to understand its characteristics.

You can go soft spring with high pressure tyres with huge amount of cambers or you can go stiff spring low pressure less camber and it produces the same handling characteristics but different wear.

As for the downforce, since the car feels heavy you can't really get the feeling immediately. Normally on a car such as this downforce is used as a measure of finetuning the handling. The first criteria for better handling as far as I observe always the mechanical side of things. Changing these settings affect the handling tremendously.

You see I can do testing just for the sake of understanding rake effect on downforce, but I don't have much time so I wonder if anyone have tested running different rake angle with the same setup.

Maranello I'm much more of a smooth braker, I always go for slow in and fast out. When smooth braking you can modulate the car better and you rarely missed the apex and you can have all the spaces you need on the exit therefore timing the kerb to perfection is way way easier. However when it comes to certain corners, where there is no straight after that, I always hard brake since the entry is more important than the exit.

I feel when you reach some level of control comfort, all you need is that little extra grip and I believe there is nothing more you can do unless you change the setup to correct only the part of the area you struggle.

No. Can finish the race without doing any pitstop?  hmm.gif

I think full tank 125L can go max 18 to 20laps.
*
Can, why not, full load fuel can do 30 laps approximately. 30 laps is more than 60 minutes. The problem is the pace is slow and the wear of the tyres is somehow high.

Maranello55 that setup, you have tweak the tyre pressure, I have not done many laps with that setup. So tweak the tyre pressure a bit and it will serve you quite well, I can do 2.08.154 quickest with 16 laps of fuel. But my tyres temp reached 120 degress. I guess I have to lower the camber and sacrificed cornering speed and top speed a bit.

My estimation is that those with average 1.29.xxx have a good chance of winning the race. Just my estimation, I don't know what redline has in reserve or ryugan or maranello.

OMG, I had the fuel set to normal, LOL. Looks like I have to modify my setup. Now all my work is a waste.

I mean 2.09 sorry for the 1.29 lol.

Raikkonen perhaps you have to ask setup from maranello or red.

First of all what a great battle. Maranello is fast and fair, he almost did a massa at last turn before the pit straight. I was wow. But he was really fast and I was hoping for him to make a mistake but he didn't. He kept his calm and composure and I knew that he will take the win the moment he dive into pit.

Then the lap after that, which I was terribly struggling for grip, decided to pit and hope maranello pit crew made some blunder, but again he kept calm. After I went out I saw Madnoren was in front of me, I was like from where did he came from? And he pitted already? Questions start playing in my mind, when and where. I push a bit on fresh tyre and catch up to him pretty quickly and he made a mistake and I overtook him.

After that I knew Sabelt was on the run for me, I watch my tyres and decided to nurse the car. It's no point to catch up to maranello at this point.

This will go down in my book as one of the most challenging and fun. Great battle maranello, looking forward to zandvoort and this time I will work my tyres to perfection. tongue.gif

Oh, maranello your overtaking move was a great one. I tried to reovertake you on the straights since I had more speed on straights but you have a good car under braking.

I did predict your win and I was 100% correct.

I find it hard to achieve good race setup with 2x tyre wear. It's a huge challenge to keep my tyres within the desirable wear rates and at the same time lapping the car to the limit.

It's like playing GT PS2, you only have couple of laps b4 the tyre turn all red.

Ive considered two stopping in sepang but i needed to build a gap with a mostly one stopper, of at least 50 seconds to be confortably infront when im out of the pit. But PCcrazy managed to keep the gap at 30+ sec.

Anyway i tried to pit to change tyres only, and set my fuel to 0 just before i pit, but then i left the pit with 1 litre of fuel only! A bug? Or how can i pit just changing tyres and without refuelling? The pit timing is the same either way.

I think in Zandvoort u can pitt (opps sorry, i mean pit) twice since tyre wear is an issue. I'll race tonite and share with u guys my experience....

When are you going to be in the server? I would like to join you and get some tips as well. Btw, don't tell me your strategy, it will spoil the fun. Just discuss about the car. I want surprises in the race to keep up the drama and realism.

That's why I need you to keep staying behind me at sepang. I knew I will have no chance if you pass by. Even though I did all I could to save my tyres, but still not enough. It's a good challenge anyway.

Maranello, from the Holden Racing Team,
took his first win in a season opening MSR V8 Supercars Championship, his first one in MSR career, yesterday in the City of Sepang Selangor. It was triple strike by Maranello to clinch the pole, the race win and the fastest lap.

In Qualifying, with a time of 1:28.215, Maranello shared the front row with PCcrazy who was 0.433s slower registering a time of 1.28.648. Madnoren managed 3rd on the grid with a time shy only 0. 290 seconds off PCcrazy,  Ryugan meanwhile joining him on a  4th place. Dzariq Mirza took the last spot on the grid since he had technical problem with the car, hence he was unable to participate in the qualifying session.

When the formation lap started, Raikkonen had to content to being a spectator due to unable to get the car ready for the start procedure within the time stipulated in the rules. It was a big blow to him to miss out the season opener because of the crew misunderstood the regulations of the start procedure. The race steward, Evohahn had no choice but to continue with the race even though there was an appeal made by  Raikkonen's team chief technical director after the start of the formation lap.

The start was clean and not much of a drama thanks to the huge Sepang track and its wider first turn, The biggest gainer was Sabelt who overtake two cars and settle for 3rd place.

I was unable to finish the first round article due to commitments. Those who have time, please add in a bit more to this.

Diam apanyer, saya kena chase utk tender, dah dua hari tak balik woo. Member seorang resign, so I had to do his work plus my work. Dah lah kena hentam ajer dua tiga hari ni. No testing for me until tomorrow lah.

But no worries, once the tender stage is finish I'm quite free and can resume testing back as usual.

Nevertheless I read this thread from time to time. Izznata my photo suma at home, will submit when I get back.

I read that Madnoren is also in a silent mode, sabelt and you are sure fast.

I have the base setup that is only good for short stint, I'm clueless t work from there. The basis is all absoulety wrong. I would be glad if you can enlighten me with this V8 tyre charecteristics under diff pressure and temp.

last night did some test with IzzNatta, Ryugan, Soze, RonMD & Dzariq, average race setup high 1:29 to low 1:30. previous 2 rounds the 2 pits strategy not work, so for this Round 3 will do single pit, need to find optimum car setup now....hehehe

anyone wanna do test race tonight?

Pitt hang dah try controller setting madnor? takpun amik aku punyer klu nak.

Maranello55, no problem dood, but let that be a positive lesson to you and me. When I look in the mirror, I know you can't make the corner, so I brake a bit late until smoke come out but still not enough. Furthemore you have the room on the side given all to you man. Still accidents happen.

As for my race, I was aiming for podium until I hit the entry to pit wall hard, pit thrice for fuel and two stop and go. I was daydreaming, I was too tired, came back from work on SUNDAY.

Although I had little training at Laguna, I was surprised by how different the car feel online.

I think I will miss the next race because again I will be in Terengganu. Damn I have to change job. I missed working at home. laugh.gif
