Hey guys, I need to confirm this.

I was thinking of buying a 12-month prepaid from Amazon. The US price for the card is cheaper. I heard from some people and read in some threads that there is a difference between the US and Asian card.

Can someone confirm this? Have you actually tried it before?

ALSO, I have heard that if you subscribe with a CC, and you choose to unsubscribe later, you will not be able to downgrade your account to a SILVER account, which means NO ACCESS. Can anyone confirm this?

if your gold account is US registered account then you have to use US reload prepaid. if asian account then asian prepaid.

* if you getting US prepaid card please let me know i wanna buy too because my gold expiring in early feb.

Mine is registered under Singapore. I'm sure I can change it to US. Question is, what are the setbacks of US account and/or Singapore account?

Hmm. AFAIK they can't disable SILVER because it's a free service. Anyone have any input?

dont think so you can change it anymore. since you registered under SG then you need asian prepaird card. yes, you can change under system settings -- LOCALE to US but it's still a SG account.

no. you can't confirm that U/S account can't be used with local asia prepaid card.

as for example. MetalGrindSolid Accounts are U.S , However, He purchase the 3 months prepaid from me and its usable.. hm...

I got consumer/customer who said they are using 1600 ms point / 3 months asia prepaid card usable on thier U.S Accounts...

and some vice versa that can't seems to work..

don't think prepaid subscription cards are region locked, coz in the end all also microsoft untung.... but for points it's a different story, ala.. something like the tv show thingy la.. complicated stuff... having a US account, im stuck with no points now :'(

Ahh...so there's NO confirmation on the reload cards. GOOD.

Anyways, i'll probably get the US card anyways, and try out the reload. If it doesn't work, then i'll sell off the reload number in US Ebay.

I can try to do a bulk if I can get this whole thingamajig sorted out, and no shipping required, because i'll have it shipped to my friend's house in US...though it'll mean that my friend will have to do alot of card scratching and typing...

Hi, I've registered my a/c under US but is still able to use the Asian Reload cards sold by GH. Another user whom I know has a US a/c and using reload card is bro metalgrindsolid.

How about the MS Point cards? Do they work cross-region wise? I have a US account with US machine, does the Asian MS Points card work on mine? Xbox.com forum have conflicting reports on this, and their cases are exclusive to the North American staying gamers only, no reports on those living outside continental US.

Well actually, i have US 12 months reload card which cannot be used on my US account on my US machine, as well as a couple of US 1250 MS Points that also cannot be used. It fails the code verification every time i entered it into Live. Trying now with the Asian MS Point card im about to get from GH.

Regarding the 12 month reload cards, apparently there are 2 types. One can only be used for NEW accounts, and another can be used for normal accounts. I saw one seller on eBay mentioning that his 12-month card for sale can only be used for NEW accounts, hence this conclusion.

This information is not verified.

Okay, i've tested GH's 1600 MS Point card Asian version, and it works on my 360! Going there now to get 5 more!

I missed out on all those nice Live Arcade stuff, plus im not taking any chances on future usability of the casrds, should the future cards go through more complications later. Gurdian bro, mine is a full-fledged US account on US locale, on a US Xbox 360. that's my configuration anyway. an MS Point Asian 1600 points card costs RM89. at GH. Im outta here, going to get my cards now, before going to Frankfurt tonight!

this has been confirm by merlin my and metalgrinsolid since they are using asian prepaid gold card to activate thier gold member

This further strengthened the rumor that cards now are based on region and IP address/physical location of where your Xbox 360 is, NOT on which account it is registered under. What i mean is, although the account is registered under US, but the physical location of the console as well as the IP address of the console when loggin into Live from, determines which card is usable for that console. There had been a thread on Xbox.com forum regarding requests from US servicemen working abroad, in military bases and ports where they are located, that they cant get to use their US-based credit cards, nor inputting card codes from their relatives who bought the card back home from the States and posting them the codes , not working on their consoles. I guess MS now is giving them a break for letting them use local region cards, which extends that same courtesy to other US-registered accounts as well.

I was already giving up hope on using the cards i bought off DVDBoxoffice when all of them are rejected as invalid. My only hope at that time was waiting for my roster to schedule me to go to New York, bring this goddamned 360 with me, log it in from there, and redeem the cards there. I have a 12 months Gold subscription card as well as 3 US 1250 MS Points card unusable here. Thank God for GH and the Asian MS Points card working on mine.

Those who had registered and subscribed to a US account 12 months Live subscription via credit card need not worry, although your credit card now is blocked from buying points via your 360, your credit card is autodebited whenever your Live subscription is about to end. I got the the courtesy email from Xbox Live stating my credit card is being charged for another 12 month cycle and it went on smoothly from there onwards.

gee..nice info bros. but as TS asked, when u upgraded to gold via cc, and if u choose not to renew, would it downgrade to silver, or it'll be an unusable gold? just wanna know if i'll be able to download stuff even if i dont want to renew gold.

I am in the process of getting my Paypal registered. After that I will get some $$$ into my Paypal account and buy a card off Ebay. Initially I wanted to get from Amazon, but they don't support Paypal.

To those who register with Credit Card, MS has stated very clearly in their FAQ that there is NO WAY to unregister. You're bound for life. Hehehe...

After what seems like an eternity, I have finally renewed my Xbox Live Gold subscription successfully with a so called "US code". I bought the code off eBay and paid approx. RM173.20.

To those who want to get the 12 month cards, this is what you can do...
1) Register with PayPal
2) Register with eBay
3) Get some PayPal dollars (check Garage Sales)
4) Bid/Buy item on eBay
5) Pay with PayPal

That's all there is to it!

Alternatively, if you DON'T have a PayPal account, you can send money to me and I can arrange it for you.

How to backup lar bro? I know there's 'unofficial' way to do it, but are there any easy way to do it the 'legit' way.

With our current connection, downloading anything is a freaking pain. Anyone tried backing up the demos?

use "sata to usb" cable and the "xplorer360.exe" to get a peek on your 360 HD content via PC. u can retrieve the files from the HD but restoring the files could have problems.

Seems this question haven't been answered or I'm blind. Can you use the US reload to activate a new account? I'm planning to try out LIVE.

I bought a code, for a h3be, and guess what, IT DOESN'T WORK.

We're trying to figure out what's happening and i've already contacted the seller. It MIGHT be one of those that were designed to be used with NEW accounts only.

I got this code from another person, simply because the person that I bought it from didn't have anymore stock at the time.

Bottomline is, if anyone else wants me to purchase, this time I will only purchase from the first person I bought it from. I'm certain that his batch of cards will be workable, though I cannot be held liable if it doesn't work.

To h3be: You can either make a new account and try this, OR someone else can try this code, and pay you if it works. If all else fails, I am offering to absorb half the damage. How's that?

I'm so sorry to say that there's risk involved, but it won't stop me from buying my next 12mo reload from across the seas.

The main issue here is MS screwing up the reloads. No more than that.

The SAFEST bet is the 3mo reloads from GH, or credit card subscription.

i guess one of the reason why it is not working for me is because my silver account expires for too long after the free 1 month gold trial (about 1 month+)

creating a new account might work though but it is gonna be ghey coz i dont wanna change my gamertag name and losing the achievements.

Credit Card works that's for sure. You just can't use CC to purchase Points if your account is in the US.

As for renewing using cancelled card, you can check with judgethe regarding that.

Nope it just wont renew my silver account which expires from its gold trial about 1 month ago.

actually not renewing my gold with a cancelled ccard... just that microsoft automatically renew my gold with my old ccard which i used 1 year ago. so when it expired microsoft will automatically just charge into the same ccard again. unfortunately that same ccard already no longer exist
