oh and is there any difference between MSI GTX1060 Gaming X and Zotac GTX1060 AMP! aside from MSI card is bigger?
*
They are the same, generally.

If you have budget constraint, get the cheapest card.

If you do not have budget constraint, get MSI GTX1060.
IMO, it is the best designed cards (same applies to MSI GTX1070/1080).
It has heatsink on ramchips and VRM by default.
You can slap an AIO on MSI card easily.

All in all, do not spend more than MYR1400 on GTX1060.
If you spend more than that, you might as well get a GTX1070.

Extreme OCed 1060 vs stock 1070 ?

If OC is the way, OC a stock 1070 and it will widen the gap again. Price gap is too small, I would just opt for higher end product.
*
Stock 1080 > Extreme OCed 1070 > Stock 1070 > Extreme OCed 1060

Stock GTX1070 is like 35% more powerful than GTX1060.
Stock GTX1080 is like 30% more powerful than GTX1070.
The most you can overclock the card is prolly +20%.

You realize you were comparing a throttling reference RX 480 to MSI Gaming X doh.gif

Then you used DOOM OpenGL instead of Vulkan when it's obvious that Vulkan benefits both camps, and nobody uses OpenGL when they can use Vulkan dry.gif  Then even better, you used Two Nvidia cards, 1060 and GTX 980 to 'win' against the Reference RX 480 laugh.gif

To be fair you should also have noted that RX 480 Nitro+ OC was not even pushed in majority of these reviews due to Wattman limitation. But hey, as long as it beats it by 6 FPS right?
*
For the record, I used both AIB Sapphire Nitro+ RX480 and Asus RX480 Strix as reference.
You can go ahead and check the OC headroom of both.

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/RX...TRIX_OC/26.html
Do the calculation yourself.

OC UK said they could push Sapphire Nitro+ RX480 to 1420MHz.
eteknix and multitechnopark showed Sapphire Nitro+ RX480 maxed at 1360MHz, and in fact it started throttling at 1360MHz.

Free +1 point given to Vulkan.

P/S
Yeah, these reviewers are bias. Kek. laugh.gif

Gaming @ 1080p, highest factory oc 1060 vs cheapest 1070? Dilemma...
*
Cheapest stock 1070 beat the extreme factory overclocked GTX1060 card flat.
That excludes OC headroom of GTX1070.

If GTX1060 is more than MYR1400, you might as well get GTX1070 at 1650-1700 (i.e. gemfive with discount code).

but still cannot get a stable 2150 MHz.
*
Game Nexus could get it to 2164MHz with customized AIO.
So, I think 2150 is doable.

Bleh, these 1060 vs 480 mudslinging contests are beneath me. I should be sitting by the side and enjoying the show.

Yes, I'd rather play benchmarks with my GTX1080. tongue.gif

The fan boys wanna brag about DX12 and Vulcan.
Only handful of DX12 games and synthetic benchmarks available.

Red team has an edge in Hitman. 1 point to the red.
Greed team is optimized in Tomb Raider. 1 point to the green.

With Vulcan, red team gets another point.

For Ashes of Singularity, Total War and 3Dmark Time Spy, the benchmark results were quite close for both reference cards.
We do not have GTX1060 reference card in our market. With higher clock on GTX1060 AIB cards + 13-15% OC headroom, it is easy to find GTX1060 performs better than RX480.

The fan boy jumped his gun claiming bias reviews against RX480. LoL.

Ah well to be fair, you're comparing RM 1400 GTX 1060 which is readily available vs GTX 1070 at RM 1770 or whatever that's subjected to availability.

They can't do that for long, it's just 1 brand, 1 model to what I know. tldr : that's comparing retail price to seasonal sale.

If they can do that for 1070 at Gemfive, very likely they will do that for 1060 at the same place too.
*
Yes, one requires luck to get GTX1070 at cheap rate.
Provided the discount code and stock are still available.

Just need to keep trying at GemFive, Lazada and 11st. laugh.gif

The price of Palit GTX1060 @ MYR1099 is so tempting.

My GTX1080 is also a Palit brand. It runs cool. So, kinda confident in Palit's build quality.
If I get GTX1060 for my office PC (if I can't wait for GTX1050 any longer), it will be my second Palit Pascal card for me. The poison is strong. Hmm... hmm.gif
