Ok, first (or 2nd) items that I disliked about this phone (other than the lame camera).

YouTube VR playback. If you try playback 360 VR video from YouTube, you will find that the video jerks when you move the phone around. And it is really bad.

Anyone experienced this? I am on 7.3.6.0. Seems like there is a problem with the sensors on this phone.

I just try it. No jerk. What video you play? Have you disable battery saver?
*
Hmmm.. I tried it just now and no jerk.. Really can't explain as I was on wifi last night and I even rebooted the phone to try it again it jerks.

But now no jerk.

I tested "Conjuring 2 Experience Enfield VR" and also "Incredible 360 Degree Vidoe GTR Nismo"

using official charger but third party cable. hmm nvm just have to live with it. i think something wrong with the calibration
*
Sometimes cheap cable has too much resistance and bad connection that prevent a full charge.

If you want to get a 3rd party USB cable, buy a good quality one instead of the pasar malam one.

Enable pop up in WhatsApp setting.

guys please be aware there are ap sets with identical imei numbers for both sims.
official MY set have different imei numbers for sim 1 & sim 2
check yours by dialing *#06#
if same imei numbers then your phone is not dual active.
example, sim 1 active on call then sim 2 cannot receive sms or calls.
*
I think RN3 never advertise it as dual active. Only dual standby.

Anyone managed to unlock the bootloader via global rom? If not, how do you flash back to China rom?

I am getting 50% error unlocking using global rom. Error message is the phone config not match.

Just managed to unlock my bootloader. Yes I have to flash China developer rom. So might as well flash to MIUI8.

Love the new font in MIUI8 and it make medium size font more readable, as least for uncle like me.

It has tons of bloatware as well but fortunately, all can be removed.

I unlocked my RN3 after flashing to China MIUI8 then use fastboot to flash TWRP.

However after rebooting the device, it go back to MIUI recovery (phone picture with a USB cable connection).

How to install TWRP properly to flash CM13?

Did you go to recovery mode using the updater option?
Or did you use the volume down + power button combo?
*
Ok I managed to go to TWRP. I have to boot straight to recovery image from fastboot.

China MIUI8 ROM will replace recovery image with stock every reboot.

However once I tried to flash CM13 from TWRP, I got Error 7 pulak...

I think I didn't wipe data. But I need my phone for the time being. Will try again over the weekend.

Success!!

My step from MIUI 8 China Dev Rom (unlocked)

1) Fastboot flash Alka recovery
2) Fastboot boot to recovery
3) Wipe Dalvik, Cache, Data
4) In TWRP flash CM13 + Google Apps micro ("open_gapps-arm64-6.0-micro-20160704")

Reboot!

Afterward...

Have to flash Camera fix as it FC.
Just found out that there is no individual SIM enable/disable switch doh.gif for CM13. Have to take out my standby SIM then..

Do you get better batt life using cyanogen or miui? I have oneplus one too and I notice in cyanogen the phone remains awake all the time after seeing battery stats while so isn't the case in miui. Getting my note 3 pro soon so thinking to stick with miui or shift to cyanogen.

CM13 Bluetooth use too much power. I will see how much it use over the weekend.

See attached. Never see this in my old OnePlus One.

After flashing to CM13 MM I am able to transform my Redmi Note 3 to a Blackberry.

Possible. Even Miui 8 is on 5.1, there is no real need for Xiaomi to rely on M because Miui has masked most of the Lollipop features and by making Miui as close to iOS as possible. If Lollipop serve Miui 8 well, we may never see M in old phones with Miui.
