No worries.  We got skip by 7.5. So for MIUI8 we will get Android NG.

That will be in 2018 with Xiaomi's current pace.

My observation with CM13 on the RN3 over the weekend.

1) Orientation stuck issue as per my previous experience from MIUI7 and MIUI8 is gone.
2) VR lag in Youtube is gone.
3) Bluetooth reported very high power usage in Battery status but I think it is error. If it is really reported using 4000mAH in the phone should be dead anyway.

Battery wise I managed to get 39 hrs of usage over the weekend with 8hr SOT. Not bad.

Not sure about the bootloader but I have TWRP running as bootloader after flashing CM13. So far no plan to flash another ROM yet.

Redmi Note 3 - Originally launched in China in Nov 2015, is based on Mediatek chipset. This version is never sold outside China.

Redmi Note 3 (Pro) - Launched in March 2016, is based on Snapdragon 650. Some people called it Pro spec. This is the one Xiaomi bringing to Malaysia officially. So those Mediatek you got in Lazada is from grey market import.

The grey market importer bring in Redmi Note 3 (SD or Mediatek) from handphone vendor in China. They do not buy them directly from Xiaomi. Therefore the phone is loaded with what we called "vendor ROM", which is similar to a Verizon phone in US where Verizon will load some of their stuffs on the phone. This also include adware etc.

Global Rom refer to the MIUI ROM that is design for International market. The main differences compared to China ROM (or vendor ROM) is:

1. More system languages, China ROM only have Chinese and English
2. Google PlayStore enabled. China ROM will not have build in PlayStore. You have to flash yourself.
3. No China made video player which has access to VOD in China market
4. No China made music player which works like Spotify function
5. No Chinese only apps (like Mi Wallet, Mi whatever, some China version of Waze).
6. No strange Chinese words come out when you use some system apps.

Other than that, they shared the same bugs and features as China ROM.

how do i do the first step? i googled and EDL all seems about unbricking phone   icon_question.gif
*
First use EDL to flash China rom.
1. Enable USB debug in developer mode
2. Run adb device, then adb boot EDL
3. Run miflash to flash China rom

Then unlock the phone.

After that you can flash TWRP.

No wonder la.  doh.gif

Makes a stronger case to change to CM.

Anyone already changed to CM? hows the feedback? because I remember using CM for my Samsung S2, and the performance almost 50% increased weh (exaggeration)

Really itchty to try n use CM as my daily driver for redmi note 3 before I set it up as my main phone. I wonder if someone here nice enough to give comparision of battery time between miui and CM with same pattern of daily use.

Miui has always been my second choice.

CM13 last me 36 hours over the weekend with 8 hrs SOT with moderate use.

Got decent case to recommend? Its quite hard to find good case for this phone. Bought one case on the net, turn out pretty crap compared to advertised images. Try my luck at shopping mall but can't find any so far.
*
The only reasonably good one is the Ipaky hybrid case. However it "lift" my tempered glass SP because the edge "eat" inside the screen area.

Hi guys, just found this thread, nice!

I like to ask the owners do u have any experience with slow whatsapp syncing from ur address book?

For example, I am using HTC m8 and Samsung note3, when I just save a new contact in my phone (I usually saved under Google),  it takes forever for whatsapp to sync the contact. As a result I'm unable to text the new contact via whatsapp until only when whatsapp has sync the contact.

*
No. It is almost instant. If not, less than 1 minute.

I also find it lagging in whatsapp when I try to create a new message, search for a contact to text.

Thanks guys! notworthy.gif

I tried, after unlocked the phone, power+vol up still bring me to this screen:

[attachmentid=7118514]

I couldn't enter the recovery mode. Quite frustrating. sweat.gif

Tried to install the global om using updater, couldn't work as well.
*
You didn't enter EDL correctly.

Turn on USB debug.
Use ADB command to do a ADB BOOT EDL

Then use Miflash to flash the Global ROM.

If fail. Read.

Hey guys, my RN3 seems to have some random ads popup on the homescreen. I even rooted and delete all the unnecessary bloatwares, but its still there, any idea what's causing this? Thanks smile.gif
*
Are you using Vendor Rom? Flash Xiaomi official Global rom. Even "global rom" flashed by Gemfive got unwanted apps.

Guys.  After 2 days of clean install on cm13. I need to say I'm going back to stock MIUI. Not that there is bug in cm13. In fact everything is smooth and nice. But the only one and problem is that the battery life. Now my phone is 37% and screen on time is about 3 hours and less. Which mean I don't get 6 hours at best. In MIUI. I get minimum 6hr and can be 8 hours top. So ya, I'm back to stock.
*
Sorry to hear that.

I have installed CM13 in 3 RN3 and all of them (including mine) constantly getting at least 18hrs of usage and SOT of 5+ hours.
