Very infamous issue/bugs in MIUI. The Dev tries to save the battery to the max until incoming push notifications are totally blocked.

You need to:
1) Lock the app in the background. To do this, tap recent/background app capacitive icon > long-tap or slide down WhatsApp (for MIUI 7) > tap the Lock icon (for MIUI 8 only)



2) Goto Settings > Battery & Performance > Manage app battery usage > Choose apps > tap WhatsApp > No restrictions.



I hope TS will put this info in the 1st page.

or simply, dont use MIUI and port out to other custom ROM

Custom ROMS are OK but so long as it does not have serious bugs, it's a go. But MIUI has its own pros and cons. I personally don't like MIUI at all. It's heavy, silly and too many bugs that I detected which are not supposed to be there in the first place....

Some people do not know how to flash and thus have to live with MIUI. So, they have to find the workaround within MIUI support....

the ROM itself are the same. There is no such thing as ORI ROM. it is ORI set comes with Global ROM out of box.
AP set out of box doesnt come with Global ROM.
then another difference between AP and Ori is of course the warranty la.

Did u buy thru online from G5 or Lazada? It was shipped with global rom or u have to bring back to their stores to do that?

Can u ask your friend to check where exactly is the vendor in terengganu? Would like to buy directly from the shop..
