Please learn to be comfortable in water because you would be in water so deep you cant see the bottom.
And yes you would be sinking.. a lot.

There are some that is open in Oct. They actually start opening back up around Oct the last time I checked. Its no longer Low season rates in Oct.

Self reliant is not about diving alone but more like how to make sure you would be fine if you lost your buddy and an emergency happens.
Shit can happen other than your breathing apparatus giving issues which require buddy assistance.

I was looking into it as well. Didn't know PADI offered it.
