QUOTE(ADJ @ Jul 19 2016, 03:02 PM) For me, no difference in quality between my 2 sets of Hankook tyres, Prime2 from Korea and Noble2 from Indonesia, both equally good in terms of manufacturing quality. iPhones are made in China. Sony RX100 was made in Japan, then later in China, still the same quality. Michelin PS3, made in Thailand, and made for SEA conditions, weather etc. Parallel imported German made PS3, tends to chip or deteriorate faster. Then again, these are all generalizations, and other brands/tyres may buck this trend. Country of origin to me is less important than overall brand quality and whether they are produced and approved for the locale it is sold in. Yup agree with this! I've used well known branded but Indo, China, and Thai made tires, all no significant difference in terms of built quality! All last and performed as expected, no complains whatsoever. The branding is most important, just avoid those China/unknown brands, but not branded made in China/Indo. FYI Indo made tires actually would/should be tougher coz the driving environment there is much worse: hotter, a LOT more pot holes and much rougher asphalt and joints! Long time ago I had seen Michelin made in France that cannot last and chipped badly when driven in Indonesia but yet the Indo/Thai made tires performed well as expected in such condition.

QUOTE(1tanmee @ Feb 7 2017, 09:18 PM) i was told years ago that Malaysian rubbers are the best, par none. Shouldn't it then translate to Malaysian made tyres being better compared to other countries? On another note, can the consumers see the country of origin on the side of the tyre? Don't know about Malaysian rubber but making good tires is not just about having good rubber! There are a lot of complex technology that goes with it. Yes you can easily spot the country of origin on the side, but like I said the brand is way more important than the country.

QUOTE(serez @ Sep 16 2017, 07:11 PM) 1 question even though this thread is quite outdated. i had to change my tyres all 4 pieces to potenza re003 Thailand made with a price of rm320 per piece . the shop is somewhere in sungai petani. what can i say is the price is too low compared to what i have been researched for previous months. any possibilities of fake tires? Never heard of fake tires. There are only retreaded used tires. What size is your RE003?

QUOTE(serez @ Sep 17 2017, 01:26 PM) its 215/45/17 normally i surveyed within klang valley the price range around rm430 - rm500+ RE003 size 215/45/17 is already cheap between 300-350 only. See example below: http://www.mudah.my/Tayar+baru+2154517+bri...03-55774718.htmThose who offered you 400-500 were trying to rip you off!

QUOTE(serez @ Sep 20 2017, 03:33 PM) thanks for the enlightment. i'm aware of that now i dont know whether the tyre origin will reflect the price or not. eg some tokey offered me with so called japan re003 (forgot the size) with the price of rm500+ while i can get wayy cheaper thai made re003 No need to buy Japan made one la, it's still about the same. Even if different it won't warrant such big price difference. I don't think this tire is available in Japan too. Japan made Potenza is usually the S001 which is expensive.

QUOTE(1tanmee @ Aug 13 2018, 03:53 PM) But the argument would be... the work ethic and adhering to standards is more prevalent to those europeans, whereas asians are more inclined to cut corners. This holds water? Even so, the difference should not be too much because they still have to hold a certain std for the brand and the model manufactured. So maybe PS4 made in Thailand might be slightly lesser than PS4 made in Europe but it's still a PS4 that would be superior to Bridgestone S001 made in Japan or Continental CPC5 made in Europe for example. So the brand and model is far more important than the manufacturing country. In fact when I'm buying tires, I almost never pay attention to where they're made! I've used GY F1D5 made in China before and they perform well as expected. I've used Potenza made in Indonesia too and they also performed well as expected. Now if you have a choice between PS4 made in Thailand vs PS4 made in France for example but the one made in France is 25-30% more expensive just because of that, which one would you buy? For me it's a no brainer, I'd buy the cheaper Thailand made PS4 because the difference in quality or performance would not warrant such price difference.
