Alcantara is just a fancy name for artificial suede (polyester+polyurethane instead of suede leather). It feels like suede but designed to be much more durable and stain resistant. Agree that for steering wheel, where it can absorb sweat and oil, it's probably not a good long term choice. Leather also needs care, and leather seats show wear over the years (becomes glossy and cracks at the edges over time).
To me if you are going to wrap cloth seats anyway, Alcantara is always the premium option when ticking the boxes in options for cars (Merc, Audi, Porsche, BMW, etc), you can consider a mix leather and Alcantara option (with the signature red stitching). It's much more comfortable vs. leather and does not squeak and gives good support without sliding around. Also feels like suede which is much nicer to feel vs. leather in my opinion.
Actually, i think genuine leather is easier to care for than alcantara. At least you can buy leather care products while i think there is none for Alcantara.
If care is taken, leather will take quite a bit long to crack.
I actually like alcantara, but usually just not on my daily driver.
Volume for Alcantara is much smaller vs. leather so much harder to find cleaning products for it. You can check with Sonax Malaysia (on FB) for this:
I have used Sonax products for years and they are excellent for the $$$. Many German car manufacturers (BMW, Audi etc) OEM their cleaning products and brand it as their own.
Cools. Anyways, i only have it on my steering. Which is just wipe with a slightly damped cloth most of the time.
I just asked my loan officer..He said it does not apply to fixed rate loans..Only applicable for flexible loan..e.g: housing loan, which will vary according to BR(base rate)..Can anyone confirm this?
In Malaysia, changes in the OPR trigger a chain of events that affect the base lending rate (BLR), short-term interest rates, fixed deposit rate, foreign exchange rates, long-term interest rates, the amount of money and credit
Yah any additional cost? My Sa said no additional cost and I took his word for it.
It is part of buying insurance from Honda. They already earn 10% as omission from the panel auto insurance agencies. So, they can afford to give it to you
i can save some cost or something if i do by my own but SA said is good to have HIP for first year
If you don't mind getting the delivery delayed. Don't see why not. It is only 10% anyways and assuming you have full NCD. That is not much for people to earn la.
As I know HIP will pay full of the sum insured if you claim it but other than HIP, can not get full sum insured.
Advisable to tk HIV for the entire period. It has better coverage and advantage then others since it's exclusive for Honda vehicle. My car still cover under HIV for over 8 years despite unencumbered.
HIP, not HIV.
I only know if the claims fall below RM10k. They can proceed to fix the car without waiting claim approve or something like that. And, easier to get claims approval due to being panel insurer if over RM10k.

I'm quite an expert at complaining and they are quite an expert at ignoring complains. If you look at their social media page you'll see a ton of complains on the delay in airbag change; mind you peoples life's are at stake. Complete silence on their end.
Trust me, I wanted my problem solved the day I got the car and yet, the car is sitting in my drive way because I hate driving it. They told me to get it checked at the 1000km service, how can I reach that mileage when I don't drive it?
Car looks nice, captivates you when u get in the car the first time. Drives like a piece of shit. Worst of all, the people at Honda don't give a rat's ass about helping you get a nice experience.
Earth Dreams engine? More like Earth Nightmare.
Did you realized the problem during the handover. Could have just avoid signing the car over on the day itself.
HM has tons of shit to deal with now with the airbag problem. Yours is just like the cherry on top of a mountain of shit they are dealing with now. Not to console you, but they really do have a lot of other problems that they cannot settle right at this moment.
Even i have problems claiming my steering as i already swapped out mine for an aftermarket one. They die die told me have to put the stock steering back on before they can claim for me when i told them i can't even pull the current one out. So, i believe they have will be having lots of complaints about problematic customer service at this point in time.
And a serious lack of customer service and quality control.
When I sent my car the first time they told me they need sometime because it's a new car they not so familiar; holy flaming balls. Can u believe that?
That is sort of acceptable la. HM and the 3S can't just send everyone for training once a new car is out. They will just send someone over to learn in order for HM to teach the teacher and then that fella goes back and disseminate information and knowledge lo.
Every customer has the right to complaint if they receive defective products or service. No doubt
But to expect the business to provide immediate remedy on the spot when you raise the complaints, that's a bit too much. Business has to be given some time to investigate and come back with appropriate action
What can you expect? We have very demanding customers nowadays on top of being slightly illogical.
how bad is your ECON mode? 3:15min with ECON mode turned on still outruns the civic SI
I believe ECON mode controls the throttle flap just like an Electronic Throttle Controller providing throttle response based on peddle depression %, with a lesser flap opening with the same amount of peddle depression compared to normal D mode.
Econ mode only plays with the throttle curve. 100% throttle position is still going to be 100% at the throttle plate. Only the best of the first 3/4 is being manipulated to give a more wide range of motion to ease variation in throttling and give the feel that the car is in a retarded mode.
Actually the Honda Econ Mode is barely noticeable. There is only a slight drag. Most of the time you won't know its been activated unless you see the tree symbol on your display. Its actually quite different to the BMW version which is Eco Pro where the difference in acceleration, transmission and aircon power is noticeable.
That tree symbol is more like to let you know that you are in the most economic range and driving economically only.

Haha, that is the most worrying part, i secretly hope that pokemon Go does not get released in M'sia( Don't curse me ) . Because u cannot control other road user to play pokemon and neglect road safety, i would imagine the accident rate would be a lot higher for M'sia.
Yeah, i can imagine someone suddenly swerving in the middle of the road or some numb nut walking into the middle of the road for nothing without watching for oncoming traffic.
realized with econ throttle response is a little more numb prolly the first 1/3 of the throttle pedal travel. but if you go past that it still feels normal..
i use econ in the morning cuz the aircon is too cold with econ off. =p out of topic ya..
the car is showing 450KM travelled with 40KM left on tank.. fuel reserve light still not on yet.. normal a? manual says with fuel reserve light on still got 7L of petrol in it. does it mean i've only prolly used 34-35L of petrol to get 500KM? if so i will be damn happy cuz FC exellent.
90% city tho and 30% of the time stuck in jam.
cuz the last few times i pump before the light came on.
7L of fuel is really very little fuel submerging the fuel pump. So, try to not to run it that low la. Not good long term wise.
People complain for a lot less if you notice. It's because of "considerate" people that's why laws in this part of the world does not protect consumers because the majority of the people allow companies to screw us.
Just do it in a more civil way la. Applying pressure via social media doesn't always turn out good.
It is just like the airbag thing. Honda might have "really" issued out letter to a portion of owners who was identified previously to send their cars in for replacements but they did not respond. Now, when someone dies and some gory pictures turn up on the net. Everyone starts to panic on top of Honda expanding their lists of models to be have replacements and all go and flood the centers for replacements. Imagine if all this people just make noise all at the same time, how would you expect them to respond to something that is out of the normal load for their respective teams, right?
And to make matters worst. They launch a new model which will or might put additional problems for their 3s centers because they have to deal with the unknowns of the car.
So, making lots of noise might get things done for certain people but definitely not all. It all depends on who makes the loudest noise and pose the biggest thread which is equivalent to queue cutting. HM might have their priorities but those priorities are not necessarily what the people want to follow.
It is never a win-win situation either for the consumer or the manufacturer.
Curious question, why leaving low fuel in the tank is bad? I have a habit of leaving it low to see how far I can go
The electric pump is submerged in petrol in order to cool itself down. If you leave the fuel levels too low, it will not have enough of the unit submerged in petrol and also less fluid means longer to dissipate away the heat as opposed to having more to spread the heat load. A couple of times is not damaging, but definitely not encouraged to do it long term.
