7L of fuel is really very little fuel submerging the fuel pump. So, try to not to run it that low la. Not good long term wise.
This is actually a myth for modern day cars.

Cars have their fuel pumps installed inside the tank and the pump picks up fuel from the lowest part of the tank.

If there is a lot of dirt and residue, it will settle to the bottom and be picked up by the fuel pump regardless of how much fuel was in the tank.

But modern fuel pumps have a protective screen that catches any contaminant before it enters the fuel system. Anything that gets through is normally caught by a second filter closer to the engine.

But we should never run out of fuel as the fuel is actually a lubricant for the fuel pump and running out of fuel will damage the fuel pump.

the car is showing 450KM travelled with 40KM left on tank.. fuel reserve light still not on yet.. normal a? manual says with fuel reserve light on still got 7L of petrol in it. does it mean i've only prolly used 34-35L of petrol to get 500KM? if so i will be damn happy cuz FC exellent.

90% city tho and 30% of the time stuck in jam.

cuz the last few times i pump before the light came on.
Yor FC is good but normal actually. The CVT transmission is good for fuel economy but takes away some of the joys of fast overtaking and acceleration which torque converter transmissions provide.

And yes the fuel light comes on when you have about 7L of fuel left in the tank.

My first full tank FC:

Travelled 569km
50% driving at 140-150kmph and 50% in city traffic
No ECON mode
Using the fill - measure - fill method, I used up 39.77L.
Drove around 5km after fuel warning light came on.

So that works out to be about 14.3km/L using RON95.

The electric pump is submerged in petrol in order to cool itself down. If you leave the fuel levels too low, it will not have enough of the unit submerged in petrol and also less fluid means longer to dissipate away the heat as opposed to having more to spread the heat load. A couple of times is not damaging, but definitely not encouraged to do it long term.

Look at the below and you'll understand

http://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-rsx-dc5...al-diy-2756195/
I always push my car to the max before I fill. Usually long after the fuel warning light has come on. Been doing this since my first car (Wira) since 2001. No problems what so ever with fuel pumps.

U need to understand that most manufacturer's would provide advanced warnings just as a fail safe not because there is any real threat. In this case, manufacturers always warn against low fuel to minimise the risk of the car actually running out of fuel. This would really damage the fuel pump. Being low on fuel does not damage the fuel pump either short or long term.

Are you talking about the tree icon indicator on your dash or the econ button.

I was referring to the indicator in the previous reply.

You can always use the economy gauge which is actually much better because the indicator only comes out at a certain speed and a certain condition to show that you are maximizing mileage according to petrol being burnt. The economy gauge calculates based on your revs and your engine load at the time. Give a better picture at any speed.
I see the problem. You are referring to older Honda models. In the new Civic, the tree symbol only comes on when you activate the ECON mode. The tree symbol is no longer the economical driving indicator. This has been replaced by the color bar at the top of the speedometer display.

It is already slow to me; it takes about a second for it to load up after pressing the "climate" button. Worst still, that's the only way to change fan speeds.
Its not the only way. U can do it manually using the left dial.

May I know what is the vlt for the tint?
Ive been using Llumar Diamond 6 high grade security tint on my F10 LCI since Dec 2015. Now just installed my wife's Civic for RM2,800 at Regal Valet, Jalan Damansara near TTDI, KL.

VLT - 63%
TSER - 59%
IRR - 97%
Break strength - 181Ib/inch
Thickness - 6mil (150micron)
Warranty - 10 yrs
Color - greenish

Its JPJ compliant and no issue with SmartTags unlike 3M tints.

The best tints are those with high VLT and high IRR. In our climate we need IRR min 95% if not it will still be warm inside.

Also if ure choosing security tints, the break strength is very important. Not so much the thickness. Some tints have same 6mil thickness but their break strength is low.

And don't forget there are many tint applicators who buy the tints separately and provide you with shop warranty. Always insist on full manufacturer warranties e.g warranty card must be from the official manufacturer not the shop it self.

You need to compare:

1) Brand
2) Price
3) IRR
4) VLT
5) TSER
6) Break strength (for security tints)
7) Warranty terms (manufacturer or shop warranty)
8) Warranty duration

Orchid Pearl White definitely for me! Lunar Silver is nice but after 2-3 times looking at the actual car on the road, it looks like normal silver, just only it is slightly darker (personal preference).  thumbup.gif
Going by that same logic, it would be 'worse' for the Orchid White Pearl rite? U look at the white a million times and its still white. At least the lunar silver is a darker shade so unlike any other silver on the road. biggrin.gif

But this Civic surely looks better with lighter colors. White and Silver being the best. Darker colors don't enhance the overall design and features well enough in my opinion. But I still wouldn't rate any of the current colors as 'perfect' for the Civic. Each color has something a bit 'off' about it I think.

But I suspect by Dec this year, the Civic is going to be a common sight on the roads. So it wont really matter which color u choose.

Appreciate you sharing bro. I personally prefer darker tints for the side mirrors... A little more privacy 😊  Is the fws also 63 vlt? If so then wouldn't it be non compliant?
No the fws cant be the same Diamond 6. Its Llumar Gold. VLT lower.

What's wrong with your initial coat?
I washed the car 2 days after the coating was done. So insufficient time to cure.

Anyway Regal Valet did a good job spotting the missing coating and recoating the car for me.

QUOTE(Alternation @ Jul 18 2016, 08:57 AM)
The Honda ecotint raybarrier 4 is not up to par with those rm2k+ llumar and vcool. I suspect theres a reason ecotint left out the IRR reading in the specs.

The low IRR means surface like leather and dashboard feels like oven. I got it for free in exchange of the rm1k discount and kinda regretting it.

The only way I cope with it is sunshade. I'm also waiting for the fit to form sun screen.
Yes agreed. The Honda Ecotint is surely not high quality. I too suspect the IRR reading is low which is why Honda left it out. My friend installed it on her City. She parks the car in the sun and on hot days when she returns can almost cook eggs inside. biggrin.gif

Im using Llumar Diamond 6 with 97% IRR but on very hot days, I can still feel the heat because the windscreen uses Llumar Gold with only 93% IRR. So I can imagine how a tint with even lower IRR must feel.

We have to keep in mind that any tint <2K will not have high IRR readings. Plus if its security tint, the break strength will be low too. If you get a low IRR tint and we get more of that super hot weather we had back in April/May, ure gonna regret big time. I think its worth spending 1K more and getting a better tint for long term durability and peace of mind.

For this kind of experience, i think better you test drive yourself, different peoples have difference feel. For me, i don't have turbo car experience, so i will say yes is very powerful car for new civic 1.5TC. But for those drive other sport car with turbo, the power of the civic TC just feel normal or they will feel turbo lag.

So better test drive yourself.
Yeah im curious to see how the 1.5T feels. Might go this weekend.

Alright. have u deal with the 7 mill security tint?
I quite worried with 7 mill security tint as its may cause side window malfunction according paultan source.
Recommend is 6 mill is the max.
Even 6 mil is considered borderline for smooth operation of the power windows. 7mil is surely out.

And why would u want 7mil anyway? Security is not determined solely by the thickness but by the puncture strength of the film. If u have a tint with low break/puncture strength then putting on more layers wont do much good except retard the power windows.

Thanks for your comment notworthy.gif
Because 7Mil is the highest security tint spec. in term of IRR and TSER from Cannycool tint shop.
If someone here comment 7 Mil given a problem. Eventually will stick to 6Mil security tint.
WHat brand is this and what are the specs?
