where should i fix the surround speaker , should it be near or next to our seat ? Can i hang on top my ceiling ?
*
Yes you can fix it to the ceiling and then angle it down towards the listening area. Almost all cinemas do that. Does not have to be near or next to your seat. USe the AV Receiver to dial in the correct listening level and delay if u need to.

That said, the correct placement for surround speakers is to your sides with the tweeters at your ear level. No need to be exact, just approximate, a little up or down does not matter.

anybody visited CMY in One utama. how is it?

I have always found that shop and the one a few doors down very inaccesible. The sales people just got that "unapproachable" face. That said my sister bought one of their AV System packages and she found them quite amiable. Maybe its because I ask too many questions that they don't seem to want to answer...YMMV

Budget for 5.1 speakers + amp. around RM10k or less. (I know, I know... I have not much choice) but my main objective is watching movie. Not into music.

So... suggest suggest.

Whether u listen to musice or just HT should not matter, the system should be competent enuf for both.

I have a full Yammy system except for the sub so I'll recommend a Yammy package, can audition at most Yamaha dealers...

Amp: RX-V861 ~ <RM2.5k
Front Speaker: NS-525F ~ <RM2k
Rear Speaker: NS-M525 ~ <RM1.5k
Surround Back: NS-M525 ~ <RM1.5k
Centre Speaker:NS-C525 ~ <RM1k
Sub: YST-SW515 ~ RM1.5k... not sure

Should easily come below RM10k, plus it would sound better and kick more ass that most other patchwork HT packages. Plus this is a 7.1 system not a standard 5.1 system. I am using 7.1 in my theater and it makes a big difference filling up the hole behind ur listening area.

7.1 ah? Aiyayaya...
Like that I need to pull another 2 audio cable behind loh.
But 1 thing. My behind is empty. So, I might not be able to have a 7.1 system. My surround will be ceilng hung.

U la... no help me get cable...  whistling.gif  whistling.gif

Where to get cheap cables?

But where to put up the rear speaker ah? I mean u have centre, front, surround... then this rear speaker where to put?
*
Sorry bro, I actually did not have enuf for myself I only had enuf for the front and surround. For the centers and rear surrounds I used some cap ayam cables.

The way the speakers should be setup....

Surround should be to the sides of the listening position, the rear surrounds should be to the back of the listening area.

I just bought 140m of speaker cables. Size? I donno... decent enough.
Price? RM200
Where? Pasar Road. Ha! Ha! ha!

Well... looks decent enough for me. Where is it from? China.

I told myself, if my JBL system is using so tiny cables and still can deliver good surround sound, what is so bad about these?
*
I do hope that its at least 16gauge, especially important twhen you have tose long runs to the surrounds and back surround speakers. Is the speaker wires dual colour.... one silver/tinned colour the other copper?

thumbup.gif China cables are value for money thumbup.gif Mine also China mari wan

Phew...

At least I am not alone.
Yeah, the cable comes with 2 colors. The shop assistant wanted to intro me local made, full copper but then, price not much diff. Only cheaper a bit but the look on this China cable looks more promising.
I have yet to test it as my reno is still doing right now.

Anyway, 16 gauge or not, I really donno but what I did was I chose the thickest one. Just in case.
*
I am using this dual coloured wire, for my centers, I think its about 16 gauge. Since I have 2 center speakers, so its 2 runs of 16 gauge wires.... easier to work with compared with my other 12 gauge cables!!!

i am looking for M1-DA to component (3) to support hdtv from computer. should i keep looking for or stick with the m1-da to vga ? will i see difference with that cable ?
*
I have been planning to watch HD thru the computer as well, but I have not figured out what I need and how I need to set everything up... lazy I guess I have no experience with the M1-DA, but wat about M1-DA to HDMI? I guess you would need to do a AB to see if there is a diff....

Just had another run in with a LCoS projector... this time a JVC. And the pics are just superb. The projector belongs to psp_BOY. We had a group visit to his Home Theatre.

The colours were really popping out of the screen. Contrast was out of this world, and the blacks were so gorgeous. The JVC is miles ahead of Sony when it comes to LCoS projectors. Next upgrade will definitely have to be a LCoS projector... unless a newer technology becomes available.
