So that means if there is no 4G coverage, then straight away "No signal"?
I believe there are some partnership with big 3 company such as C, D, M..

Example if U Mobile enter to the coverage which is no 4G or 3G, automatic roaming to maxis..
*
This is my gut feeling - since they are a small player they want to keep operation cost low. So that's why they install 4g Base Station without backward 3g compatibility . And notice that they are using TDD 4g Lte. Something uncommon compared to FDD. And from what i read - TDD operating cost is lower than Fdd.

They probably dont have the Capex like Maxis and Digi.

The history is, Yes 4G is used to operate only Wimax at 2300MHz and 2600MHz band. Well, that was back then when LTE isn't available in Malaysia yet, and want to make themselves different from others.

Wimax operates in TDD. But in recent years, things changed. Wimax is a sunset technology worldwide, and LTE is popular everywhere. The way for Yes 4G to save themselves is to migrate over to LTE. Fortunately, they can migrate to LTE easily, thanks to TDD LTE where uplink/downlink is only one same frequency, unlike FDD where both uplink and downlink operates in separate frequency. So, no need to "buy/use" new frequency or whatsoever.

Yes 4G refarm some of its Wimax bandwidth for LTE. That is why you see Yes 4G's 2300MHz and 2600MHz operates in TDD.

As for Yes 4G's 800MHz band, well, because no Malaysian telcos operate in that frequency, suddenly out of nowhere, some Yes 4G users found out that Yes 4G operates in 800MHz band on their phone. Some telco experts are able to detect that on their phones, and yet no official news about that also. It is said that they're having a "public trial" on that frequency.
*
Ah yes, now that you refreshed my memory about WiMax, reminds me of the-then failed P1 then rebranded as Webe which is now Unifi Mobile.
I checked that Unifi is using 850MHz FDD-LTE (Band 5), 2300MHz TD-LTE (Band40) and TD-LTE 2600 MHz (Band 38)
Yup I remember now when Yes 4g first started off charging people per MB, which was a disaster in the end.

Reason being I'm putting Yes 4G for consideration..is because I'm sick and tired of Umobile's overcrowded and under capacity network , despite their claims they are upgrading to 4G. As I am typing now, sometimes I cant even open a simple Google web-page at night. Already filed a complain numerous times, only god knows if they are aware or not.
And coincidentally I have a Galaxy A5 which supports TDD band so thats a good thing.
Its a matter of time before one day - 4G will be buried and replaced with 5G (But of course not too soon future) .

So I'm staying away from the Umobile crowd. And considering trying out with a Yes 4G prepaid.
Thank you very much Josh for the history lesson nod.gif

Both P1 and Yes 4G are known as WiMax operator in the past, but nowadays you don't hear them mention about WiMax anymore... Because it's LTE world now, and soon, 5G.

Ring any bells?

Yes 4G LTE still remain the same RM0.09/sen per min and SMS rates to all networks even till today. A tradition that doesn't change for Yes.

Consider file a complaint to MCMC here: https://aduan.skmm.gov.my/

Although not everywhere, U Mobile is known for its congested and appears-lack-of-bandwidth network. It is worth noting that recently U Mobile invest billions in trying their very best to improve and expand its coverage nationwide, but to be able to deliver good network performance that is in par with Maxis, Celcom and Digi, it is still a long way to go. Have you tried other telcos like Maxis, Celcom and Digi? Are those telcos doesn't perform the way you expected?

Well you can try Yes 4G by purchasing their prepaid SIM pack. Do test the network aggressively (e.g. speed tests) to see if it meets your expectation in areas where you prioritise to have a fast and stable network.

Which Samsung Galaxy A5 model are you referring to?
The first version of Galaxy A5 (2014/15) does not support 2300/2600MHz TDD LTE.
A5 (2016) supports 2300MHz TDD LTE Band 40
A5 (2017) supports both 2300/2600MHz TDD Band 40 and 38.

...and compare between Yes 4G LTE's 2300/2600Mhz, 2600MHz TDD Band 38 usually perform better in some areas in terms of its network and coverage (from what I observe, may not be applicable to you).

Anyhow, all Galaxy A5 phones models do supports 800MHz Band 20, so you can use Yes 4G network at least on 800MHz band if your phone or area doesn't have 2300/2600MHz.

Hi Sorry for the late reply .
I checked my Samsung model, its model is SM-A520F/DS and when I looked it up, its a A5 (2017) model.

Lucky me.

And BTW, Umobile just replied to me - This is what they wrote:

QUOTE
Hi , we have completed our review into the matter raised and the findings reveals that your location is located at the marginal coverage area (coverage hole) that could caused slow and unstable data connection due to the poor quality signal. Hence, new plan site is needed in order to enhance the coverage at your location.
However, no tentative date can be advised at this moment on the site completion ya. Thank you.

So its just now a decision - to bear with them for a while..or prepare to port out.
And Unfortunately - Yes 4G's postpaid plans doesnt support tethering / hotspot as confirmed in their website.
The prepaid plan do however allow tethering , except for the unlimited . Thats always the case with some of these telcos; reluctant to offer tethering.

If you asked me why not I try other networks? Its because I already have (a collection) of networks.
*Me currently have Tunetalk prepaid and Hotlink Flex postpaid.
*My wife - Digi prepaid and Umobile prepaid (dont know why she wanna keep the rarely used Umobile)
* Home Wifi Broadband - Umobile postpaid.

My wife feedback to me that sometimes she is irritated by DIGI's certain area coverage. Celcom coverage proves itself for coverage - One time we were at friend's house in Bdr Bukit Tinggi 2, Klang. All networks either dead (including Maxis) or 1 bar inside the house, except for Celcom signal the strongest.

Anyhow I will try out the Yes 4G prepaid. Eager to see how fast is Yes 4G. If its faster than Umobile I'm a happy man. I'm not aiming for the moon.

I think what they meant - No tethering and Hotspot allowed. regardless whatever brand of modem you used.

Usually unlimited Bb plans they block. to prevent abusers clocking up to 100gb of data usage.

Hi , Can anyone tell me after my top up credit expires, i.e in 23 August it expires, how many days before Yes 4G decide to terminate my line?
Tried to call the helpline, tried to find in their FAQ & T&C, no answers. I'm guessing 90 days / 3 months after my credit expire , so it means it will be terminated on 23 November, although weirdly a few days ago, they sent me SMS that my line will be terminated on 12 October but until today still alive. (Still can receive call, and even use Free Basic Data).

I'm guessing if 23 Aug + 90 days = 23 Nov it dies.

I am just using my Yes 4G as a secondary number, so its only for either receiving calls and once-in-a-while data.

Hi there,
I have checked with Yes customer care officials and they replied that its "51 days" .
However mine is now way way past 51 days.
Should had "terminated" on 13 October but now its 59 days (as of today 21 October) coming up to 60 days.

My basic data still runs, I still can receive SMS and calls like normal. thumbsup.gif

OK, to answer my own query, no, buying an add-on will not extend the line validity.  I have to spend at least RM30 for 30 days to keep it active. sad.gif
*
Actually in real life experience (maybe mine is somewhat special) it does.
I bought my first RM 10 per week Internet plan after I bought the starter pack, and that somewhat extended the validity period, because it straight away top up and subscribes to the internet plan.
So I don't know why yours doesn't extend.

Now im considering to port out my wifey DIGI , not because of coverage issue,
But because of data requirements. Currently she is using BigBonus 28 which I told her not enough.

Comtemplating between Yes4G and their Konfem unlimited plan.
or Hotlink's Unlimited.

If its Hotlink its because of Maxis network.
If it's Yes 4G is because its something different and uncommon.
I have previously bought a Yes4G prepaid for myself to test, and it was working fine at home.

My question is, ive been using mobile tethering now (got the prepaid one) with huawei p10 and thinking to get modem coz battery wont last long. Is the prepaid sim card can be use with yes postpaid modem? But before i apply, cs told me my home only have coverage for lte smartphone, but not with the lte broadband coverage.

Or have to buy the hacked router? Thanks.
*
This part I'm abit confused; I thought Yes 4G already converted all BB coverage from WiMax to LTE.

https://www.yes.my/wimaxupgrade
Yes says goodbye to WiMAX

If you ask CS, they dont know about modem hacking and unusual combination "Prepaid sim card use in Yes BB Modem"

In summary, if you want to phone tether or use in Modem without hacking- You have to use the Double Data plan , not the unlimited.
If you want unlimited tethering / on the modem - You have to self do hacking bruce.gif , which of course Yes 4g wouldn't support or wouldn't like.

BTW I have been using mobile tethering at home all the while, with an old 4G phone, plugged in charging 24x7.
I also have old Huawei 3G router modem but of course cannot support Yes4G laugh.gif

Thank you YTL for finally revising your Broadband and your prepaid data quota pricing.

Finally their Home Broadband pricing is much more reasonable.
70GB for Rm 68 , inclusive LTE Modem (with 1 year contract) .
They have the 100GB but 70Gb is more than enough.

I have tested YES before in the past , at my home and in PD (before the Covid)
Good speed. Most likely better than Unifi Air/Mobile.

Just wait for few days bro, if you talk about TAC.
Its not only YTL. All telcos.
Even I experienced that with Unifi mobile just recently port in,
so meanwhile just enjoy your new YES service.

If cannot wait, then just speak to their CS.

Thanks for highlighting this idea. Miss that one out.
But does this support hotspot , as I plan to put it into a modem.

still cannot fight unifi air as i always use netflix or youtube monthly data can reach more than 100GB

I already have Unifi mobile line, and the reason I like Yes is because I want to be away from the mass crowd.
The unlimited data price is very debatable. One can even say - Umobile Giler Unlimited is the cheapest, have barely any FUP, but speed wise - some areas are fast some are questionable. And worse still, cannot hotspot.

I bought long time ago, price around RM180-250 if not mistaken. Anyway you can shopee find those seller with good populations.

Whats your opinion about those China routers such as those CPE CP108 Wifi Router or RS980 Wifi Router

I know those china ones most likely cannot lock bands. But they are much cheaper than Huawei
If Shopee, they sell alot of B310 , used and modified. I don't mind used, as so long its not dirty and usable.

Plan to use it on their new Postpaid 100GB plan.

Yesterday I went to AEON Shah Alam, to visit a Yes4G authorised booth.

Wanted to port in my Digi into this new Yes Kasi Up Postpaid, but now confuse, whether should I take (risk) the 24 months package , which give free 6 months (thats RM 311.64 with SST included) or just go for normal port in, and get RM 5/mth rebate for 12 months

I talked to the sales rep - he says even if lets say I take the non contract, and then later opt for the contract version also can. confused.gif

I'm staying in Subang area, checked already the coverage is covered in my area.
Previously tried with Prepaid version in my area and was satisfied with the

Hi ,
Have anyone tried the Kasi Up Prepaid version and use the 20GB data plan?
I want to know if the 20GB data plan is able to do hotspot /tethering.

I know most unlimited plans in the market don't really allow much tethering .
As I know the Postpaid version can hotspot.

Might port over to Yes4G from DIGI Best, end of this month.

Cause after DIGI stop their Free 1GB Productivity, its either Next 30 (but only 15GB) or else this KasiUp 20GB for RM 20. Now using CiliPadi XL - If it wasn't for the Free 1GB , the main data finish alot earlier.
And also KasiUp has Unlimited , something which Digi reluctant to give to Klang Valley users. Most importantly I need Hotspot option

So its bye bye Yellow Man soon. innocent.gif

Haha. Up to date - I together with Wifey - has total of 4 lines .
Hotlink (wifey - formerly from DIGI)
Yoodo (mine)
Unifi Mobile (ported from Umobile - due to underutilised, now used for Unlimited hotspot)
and now this DIGI (formerly for our Home wireless BB, but now I'm holding possession. )

So I think I have tried almost all the telcos liao. laugh.gif
I have tried Yes before. So its not a stranger to me.

Thanks JLA for the heads up info about the Kasi Up B40.

Just signed up for one.
Actually I was hoping I could "port in" my existing DIGI into this Kasi Up B40, but sadly didn't offer such option . And cant even choose or know what's the number they will provide.

Nevermind la..I will figure out how to deal with my existing Digi.

Luckily my face recognition went smoothly / no retries.

So they will provide me a temporary Yes number.
Thanks for your advice.
