if you use 5G, the hotspot is unlimited currently

oh, actually I meant phone hotspot

since Yes is already fussy on which 5g phones can be used, I doubt they would accept 5g router even if you could find one

after complaining yesterday that I cannot make or receive calls, suddenly I was given 512MB birthday month data, valid 30 days

solved it myself, VoLTE somehow deactivated

even though in my settings it is switched on and greyed out since Yes cannot live without it

second time port out is smooth now that I know Yes tricks already

Confirmation sms that we need to reply to is sent much later than other telcos (expect it the next day) and with shorter time frame to reply.

This round my timeline looks like this:

Thu 2.30pm port out request submitted

Fri 8.30am confirmation sms from Yes, with 3 hours to reply

Replied instantly and Yes sim drop dead within minutes

you need VoLTE activated to make and receive calls

I would expect so, today's the day the telcos start paying rental to DNB for 5G access.

Yes will give you a new number. You can port in your current number anytime and continue using the new Yes sim. The option is in the MyYes app. However, I suggest you test the Yes service first before committing to porting.

The option in the app is called Switch to Yes. I have used successfully once before. The random Yes number will be deactivated upon successful port in.

YES is always good in theory and challenging in practice, though I did notice an improvement in indoor coverage due to 5g.

I tried that option previously, though noticed it did not allow me to pay using existing credit (which was more than RM30 at the time).

what number you are calling?

1-300 numbers are not free, and not included in unlimited calls

normally it's best to look for a 03 number, like they advertise for calling from overseas

Sometimes things have to get worse before they get better.

My experience the last two years:

2023 MNP from DiGi to Hotlink due to terrible DiGi line at my place

2025 MNP from Hotlink to DiGi due to terrible Hotlink line at my place.

Network quality will always go up and down over time, so it's best to be flexible and not to assume what was bad last time is still bad.
