I've experienced the port out process this weekend and it was quite traumatic, but in the end completed within the standard 20-21 hours time period.

The difference seems to be that real telcos send the confirmation sms immediately once the porting request is submitted.

YES on the other hand only send the sms towards the end of that period, leaving us totally in the dark or, like me resorting to phone calls, emails and tickets to find out the status.

I was given one hour to respond to their confirmation sms, luckily I wasn't sleeping or watching a movie in a telco blackhole at the time.

Understand bro

We all kena these charges time to time

It could be many causes, such as verification sms, rogue app or subscription

Is it a new number or you are using long time?

Sometimes recycled prepaid numbers inherit sms subscriptions from the previous owner, that's why STOP ALL is worth a try

it can be done, here's my tips

1 make sure the new telco correctly identifies Yes as your current telco when they submit the porting request. for example, maxis system lists Yes under YTL.

2 don't expect immediate confirmation sms, Yes send it much later. recommended to email Yes CS straight after request submitted to confirm they received.

3 keep your phone on and connected to Yes, the confirmation sms not only comes late but has short interval to reply, in my case 1 hour. so you have to babysit your phone.

5G NSA mode requires simultaneous connection to 4G network of the MNO and 5G network of DNB.

So, I sense the problem with having Yes as the current 5G flag bearer is more on Yes limited 4G coverage.

The other telcos are more concerned on the money side as they prefer to be landlord rather than tenant of the 5G network.

The overall timeframe from submitting the request to successful mnp is typically 20~21 hours.

The difference is normal telco send the confirmation sms instantly and you then wait those 20-odd hours for porting to happen.

Yes, on the other hand, keeps you waiting 20 hours and gives you one hour to reply the sms, after which porting will happen within an hour.

When I ported out of Yes last January, luckily I was in a quiet place with decent signal when the sms came in so I could reply right away.

Easy to imagine doing the request at mall opening time, then getting sms from Yes 6am the next day while still sleeping. Timing is everything since you need to be awake, alert, paying attention to your hp and have a good Yes signal. That's a lot to ask.
