Hello all,

I am Joe and a new member of lowyat forum rclxms.gif

I am a PS4 gamer and used to be an avid PC online gamer.

I would like to get some advice and suggestions or recommendations about PS4 game broadcasting.
I am taking it seriously and willing to learn how to start it either on Twitch or YouTube. Recently I have started streaming on YouTube my videos are average 2-3 hours. Twitch is giving me some issues especially it unable to display comments and error connecting to chat server. Tried a few resolutions but didn't work, may be some of you resolved it please share.

The thing is, I have a good Razor headphone with mic but I previously tried live stream with it and I don't like talking thru the headphone's mic. Doesn't sound nice, but it works well for normal chatting via PSN account.
So I would like to know what to prepare in terms of accessories and may be some mental state readiness like how to talk while gaming, and replying comments, ya know?

So far, I know I definitely need a good microphone, i'm not aiming very high yet but a Blue Snowball, is it good? confused.gif

Please let me know what is your experience and share some guidelines or tips, I know it's hard to search for this type of help that is why i'm here.

Summary of what I am looking for:

1. Accessories, hardware, device I need.
2. Guidelines to game broadcasting, like way to speak while gaming, respond to comments, rules to set for audience or even an opening script and etc.
3. Software or app to edit videos, control chat, monitor traffic flow etc
4. what are the broadcast settings appropriate to viewers or at least view-able at 420p

What I have:
1. PS4 500GB
2. Razer headphone with mic (i tried using it for streaming but it produced high-pitch noises, so it's a no-go)
3. Laptop (Macbook Air) (I believe I need it for the live stream to monitor chats and overall while streaming)
4. Unifi 30mbps connection
5. I'm a couch gamer, so I do stream in my living room, with a puppy running around sometimes and ceiling fan spinning.

Currently, I'm looking at USB microphones to start my basic live streams with just commentary no video camera yet. Hopefully after hearing you guys out I will eventually get the build one by one.

If you have read this, thank you for your time and if you share your tips or recommended something I appreciate a lot seriously.
Thank you.

Regards,
Joe

Are you going to stream via your PS4's game broadcast or are you thinking about streaming your PS4 gameplay to your pc then to twitch?

Hi TenSou,

Thanks for dropping by. I am a new live streamer so I am going to start basic and simple which is broadcast directly from my PS4 first, but I want to learn more about video editing as well so I could upload my gameplays as episodes therefore the inquiries.

I find that it's challenging to get a good mic from local retailers unless I shop online. I feel a bit skeptical about that. Cos good mic don't come cheap and I don't trust local couriers to handle that.

Thanks.

If you're broadcasting from the PS4, your mic choices are extremely limited since you need a USB mic that works on the PS4. Not sure if a Blue Yeti work on the PS4 but you should google if it does. If it doesn't, just get a wired usb headset (headphone + mic).

Personally, I would recommend you buy a video capture card and stream your PS4 from your PC so you have a wider selection for equipment and versatility for live stream layouts, editing and settings.
