For anyone looking at this post. Main problem is not because of grounding, but because wrong/sub-quality electric wires are used. Water heater is rated ~3kW so, think of it like an 4hp AIRCON. Use at least 2.5mm solid core wire cables from a good brand. Unknown brand x2.
