Couldn't quite read your tone, methinks you are being sarcastic but still...

Don't get me wrong, I don't miss having a car, in fact I can afford to get a decent set of wheels here if I so choose but I see no reason to, and I'm not exactly holding back on spending $ either. I am renting my own little shoebox until I get my PR though, unless if they suddenly lessen the ABSD. Paying rent kinda sucks.

Actually I think I'm living more comfortably here than in KL, but I do miss the wife a fair bit. She flies here almost every fortnight and I fly too fly back almost as frequently. I am essentially earning almost three times what I get in Malaysia, and being able to bank in at least 1/2 of that every month does wonders for one's ego.

Bottom line is, if anyone can negotiate a decent pay package, I'd say mari mari sama sama jadi 'foreign trash' smile.gif

Lots of things to learn and opportunities to pursue, and the pay is good.

Edit: But goddamnit I do miss space!!! Apartments here are freaking tiny unless if you are super loaded and can afford some super atas abode.

i was being partially sarcastic, but nonetheless pointing out the truth?

Think i spent few years to experience things here. Being fairly managable on my income as a single young man. I dont holdback on foods, ciggy 1 pack 2days, maybe party once twice a month, go back kl enjoy the weekends sometimes. But grew older now lol. Truth is, it feels EMPTY and boring after a while. Stuck in shoebox rooms that doesnt even belong to me from different owners, lack of freedom driving my beloved car around.. taking the bus to work (at least this is the best point that i dont spend 2 hours of traffic a day). and worse lining up on edible foods (dont expect me to fine dine all the time. The usual mode of lunch and dinner are still hdb foods lol). and... i guess the composition? In my line of work itself only 25% sgpreans? the rest are typical whites, usa brits french indias prc pinoy myamar all sorts of rojak. The longer it is, instinctively i dont feel 'homely'. People i know come and go. All for money and fly by. Locals SG half of them sour grapes of some msian chinese who takes better position, stuffs like that of course they wouldnt tell that to your face. And there you have all these bright 3rd world mens who fights so hard to start life in SG.

Tbh, i dont really care apart from the $ thats it. But i feel bad for the locals.. as well as our countrymen who crosses the border daily.

-disclaimer: just my personal 2cents that is based on my lowly <10k income life and not reflecting any others who may find otherwise biggrin.gif -

main complain i see is no friends
well...take it from samy vellu, if there is no frens, we make frens
when u were schooling, from primary to secondary to college or uni.
all ur frens were with u from day 1 till now?
no...u make new ones along the way...so make the effort to make new friends.
no-one taught you how to make friends when u were schooling, but now u forgot how to make friends?
if ur life only revolves around going to office then back facing 4 walls...it is ur fault for not having friends.
find a hobby and go online to find the interest group nearby and particpate
with that, you know people with the same interest which will help in small talk and take it from there.

personally i think friends are not everything. my best buddies here are french since i face them everyday, badminton / drinking / party buddies are locals, talk cock whining buddies are msians and prcs, ocassional drinking with aussies and brits. heck got even so tired walking around till bored of it. i think the value of childhood friendship means more to me. thats why i cant figure out how some who emigrate to places like aus & uk, will 360deg adapt to the social circle there?. Long run, end up chinese mix chinese also. Some will be dog tail wagging wannabe whites, but I have and know my roots and tend to enjoy the malaysian life despite how fuked our country is to an extent. Justifiable from a perspective of better living? Well just a matter of time before you miss the roadside nasi kukus nasi lemak, goreng pisang, 'challenging' environment, variety of sights, stuffs like that. well at least to me SG is culturally diverse from the outside, but no depth at all. just walk around and see how superficial everyone is. chasing time, chasing money, chasing careers, double faces in work, ultimately you feel the sense of emptiness. the infrastructure, development yes are 5stars but its more like catered from the foreigners success. like what locals telling me it feels like being caged, espcially when expats (bunch of them!) easily making >15k + condo allowances + good car vs them confined in small rooms and smelling mrt armpits everyday. opps, a little off topic

I was there to took bus home last Friday, I chose Transtar, I was so dumb to realize the auntie is actually selling me ticket from another bus company Pacific express. The ticketing auntie is such a dishonest asshole in a way she deceived me by not convey that the bus she sold is not under Transtar, she made a call to pacific express.
What's more worst is the actual bus that I got in is not even belong to Pacific Express, that's a 3rd party bus instead. It took me more than 6 hours from Sg to TBS. Because it stops in Yong Peng, drop off passengers in Melaka.
And my seat was at the most last row in the back of the bus! The 6 hours massage chair like experience is unforgettable. And the auntie who sold me has never intend to convey to me, and I wasn't aware during that time due to fatigue.
And one thing I learnt from one of the lady who sit beside me, the only bus that has not stop in Yong Peng is St****rt, n they have their own e-commerce website to buy ticket in advance. I'm not trying to upsell any particular bus, just trying to rant the awful experience.

Lol, such service is also run by Qistna express also for ur good info. cheapskette will see so cheap so buy it at first

They will use starmart express bus, then drop off some bitches at larkin, then exchange to a LOCAL express bus (can be 2+1 or 2+2 if unlucky) before continuing journey. sometimes got dropoff at seremban city area which wastes more time.

so far the best combination is first coach (star vista direct to subang parade for my case la nearest to home). causewaylink express also not bad. Aeroline out of budget

I think you're having a very shaded glasses on.
Welcome to the real life.

The reason they're asking the questions is simple:- They need to consider PRs and Singaporeans first as part
of the "Fair Consideration Framework". If they have advertised for 14 days without any suitable candidate,
then only they will consider for FTs. The reason why 50 applications and no replies could also be due to your resume?
I mean, having a SG tel number makes no difference if you're resume is a "Hi, Bye" category.

Having a Singaporean number will only matter if the hiring personnel is illiterate and can't read that you're a Malaysian. I don't think the HR will look at the tel number first thing. Please don't tell me that you're going to put Singaporean as your nationality as well. If anyone is willing to lie / falsify information just to get in, my advice is to stay in Malaysia for a few more years, he/she is not ready yet.

More practical tip would be:- To put in your resume any exceptional skill-sets which are vital, your years of experience & highlight them, put them in the first section of your resume instead of educational background etc. Email directly to the company instead of competing with other people who're also using sites such as Jobstreet etc.

It's not about whether being already here or not, but to keep hopes lower to avoid the greater disappointment later.

Nah, he's right. I got called few times by HR where I applied to. Every single opening question was asking what's my residential status. The moment they ask this I know my EP won't stand a chance against a PR. Come on la isn't it obvious the job market in sg. Locals are bitching too much bout foreigners already. In my comp most professionals are expats and I felt awkward for locals to take up lowly positions. It's time for them to set out prioritization in hiring, probably instructions from Mom. No matter how nice resume also useless. Nowadays need cable to jump easier

Then please share what other benefits are there for PR?

Btw, if anyone knows of a room to let around Woodlands, please PM me. Thank you.

that's why locals are bitching about 2 kind of PRs holder.

One is those who want to take advantage of the job security / hopping + sgd and gtfo after years and live like king back in msia. Dont be surprised quite a number of cant-make-it sinkie puts msian as one of the top dislike list, just of course they wont say in front of ur face. Cuz our chinese are as smart as them and easy assimilation thus tough competition.

Another one is the genuine ones who takes up PR in hopes to settle down and prolly convert one day. This bunch aims to contribute to society genuinely.

put urself in their shoes. maybe imagine we chinese are dominating msia economy alone, thats the reason UMNO exists till now and will never change

biggrin.gif OCBC 360 interest too good. Dump all my savings there. The interest difference is like 40 times. i.e. $4 vs $0.4 something like that doh.gif

So... That $2 fall below fee actually also not much compared to the interest given by OCBC360 biggrin.gif

does the bonus takes into account the monies we have in their time deposit?

so... interest calc is based on first 60k. Does the time deposit make up part of the 60k? I cant find in the faq maybe I'm blind
