Anyone here uses a Singaporean debit card at Malaysian petrol stations the past few days and had success with paying for petrol at the terminal without keying in PIN? My DBS debit card is not PIN-enabled apparently, tried using my ATM PIN and it failed. I had to resort to using the credit card instead. Called up the bank's customer service and they insisted that I don't have to use a PIN and when asked when they are going to embrace PIN and pay they had no idea.

QUOTE(knwong @ Feb 23 2017, 11:34 AM) Why don't use your Msian debit/credit card The convenience is hard to beat for me. =) I don't mind paying extra for it. But I guess it's gonna be Malaysian cards for the time being. When using S'pore CC in M'sia the spread for exchange rate varies a lot. On top of that you'll incur 1% cross border charge. |

Btw, anyone here still drive a Malaysian car with Malaysian driver's license to work in Singapore after working there for more than a year? I've read something about mandatory license conversion or something before.

QUOTE(knwong @ Feb 23 2017, 12:13 PM) If you monitor the extras that you are paying, IMHO it's not really worth it even though banks throw in the 5X reward points or Cash Back. Unless it's business expenses then I'll spend anyhow Perfect. Thank you!Been driving like that for more than 5 years. No problem, never get asked or stop |

QUOTE(deodorant @ Feb 23 2017, 01:14 PM) http://www.police.gov.sg/resources/traffic...tting-a-license Thanks! I'm gonna assume the keyword is "residing in Singapore". =)"Driving Licence To drive a vehicle in Singapore, you must possess a valid Singapore driving licence for the class of vehicle that you want to drive. This requirement applies to all citizens and permanent residents of Singapore and also foreigners who are residing in Singapore for more than twelve (12) months." "Foreigners A foreigner above 18 years of age and holding valid foreign licence may drive in Singapore for a period of not more than 12 months. A Singapore driving licence is required after 12 months." |

QUOTE(KilJim @ Feb 23 2017, 01:38 PM) It's true for DBS. I'd assume it's true for POSB as well.QUOTE(facade88 @ Feb 23 2017, 03:32 PM) Nope, it's applicable.QUOTE(jojolicia @ Feb 23 2017, 03:49 PM) It's <3k.QUOTE(KilJim @ Feb 23 2017, 06:25 PM) Yep, I get charged the fee before. That's why now tend to keep the money in Singapore instead of Malaysia. Which is also why I prefer to pay with my SG debit card and get stuck with the recent introduction of Pin and Pay in MY. |
