hey guys, i read a few posts back that its possible to open a bank account at DBS using the IPA letter. however at their website it clearly states that it requires proof of address, which is not available in my IPA. would i still be able to open an account? i plan to finalise my accommodation next month, but to be safe wanted to kaotim the bank stuff first

Proof of address is your rental contract

i see, that means it would be impossible to open a bank account if i've not found a place to stay yet, correct?

Hi, may I know when are you going to move in to be finalizing next month?
I've some questions regarding the accommodation, hope you can advice too.

I'm looking for a private room to rent as well,
Near Redhill MRT or E-centre @ Redhill
If anyone has the contact to a good agent, please let me know.

But,
1. How long before moving in to search for place?
- Some agents seems to be telling me that it's still too early etc.

2. How long does it take to get all docs done?
- Can we move in 2 weeks time after confirm but before signing etc?
- Do we have to go to Singapore to sign the docs?

3. Besides EP, Passport, anything else needed?

Thanks for all the advice!
This thread is super-helpful so far.

and When do you plan to move in?

EP is needed or at least the IPA to rent the place.
I want to view first but thing is, they said it's too early.
When is it considered ok, when is it too early?
That's why I'm wondering how long does the process take before you can move in?

im starting on the first week of august but i will only be able to come to singapore a few days before that. which is why i want to settle my bank account first, and then look for an accommodation in august while i stay with my relatives. as for viewing rooms, i too had received similar responses from many agents, so if youre like my case, starting on august, the best thing to do is request for viewing on the first or second week of july
