AFAIK, Singapore law never say that. Even in M'sia. AWS or 13th month is at each company's discretion. Y you ask?

Just wanted to check out myself what my HR says is true or not.. He said 13th month salary is compulsory in Singapore required by the Singapore law.. Even our Singapore company had been making loss for few years we are still paying the staff 13th month salary, but over here in Malaysia our staff get nuts.. Makes me imbalance..

Anyway just for my own knowledge as well in case I might need this type of information in future..

Will be glad if anyone can find such a thing written black and white by the Singapore labour law..

No there are no SG laws mandating AWS / 13th month salary.

I don't see what you are so upset about. Companies will budget a certain annual figure to pay staff. Does it really matter that much whether that figure is divided into 12 months without AWS, or divided into 13 and paid with AWS? 🤔

Anyway I just want to know for my own knowledge .. Thanks for your feedback

well ... before you go blast your singapore HR, they may not be bound by MOM laws, but they may very well be bound by the contracts they signed with each employee. If the employee contracts / letter of offer states an unconditional 13th month AWS to be paid, the company can't tomorrow decide not to pay it any more.

The HR is Malaysian based sweat.gif

Yes i am aware if their contracts do spell out the AWS benefit they cannot amend them..
