In order to buy HDB, I cannot own any property in Msia too? What kind of ridiculous rule is this? Lots of situation of this kind - example, Malaysian home is stayed by parents or relatives (bought before working in Sgp), but planning to buy HDB due to working here in Sgp. Tell me why cannot. Are we expected to stay in Malaysia and travel everyday to Sgp - if that is the reason you mentioned. If home is in JB maybe still can ..but if home is in KL or Kedah, then how to stay there and work in Sgp same time.

A HDB, it's a government subsidized residential unit. Not ridiculous at all, you expect a foreign government to subsidize your purchase of their public housing when you are deemed to have the capability to own a house in overseas?

Homes in Malaysia under rm1 million are not open to foreigners either; would you say they are "not full market price?" icon_idea.gif

Anyway just saying that while HDB's were subsidized when sold brand new to the SC, the subsidy doesn't transfer over to the PR when he/she buys it 5 years later. The SC songlaps the subsidy and opens thread on EDMW saying "Moi bought Pinnacle @ Duxton $500k then now sold to jiu hu kia SPR for $900k, HUAT AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" lol.

What's wrong to deny it is?
By the way, drawing a comparison with our government policy will make SG policy looks even more like primary schl level when we talk about protectionism.

It may not be direct financial subsidy when we talk about buying at the "market price" 3 years 5 years later, but lots can be raised just to justify the foreign housing requirement.

Imagine one jiu hu kia telling his SG friends "I bought a HDB to rent out (not to say this can be done legally but huge incentive for him to do so since it's "money in pocket" for him) but I don't like to stay in bird cage, so I'm keeping my 4,000 square feet house in JB".

How would SGrian feel and how are they going to grill their PAP?

Yeah, it's willing seller willing buyer but the opportunity cost for PAP garmen to build HDB blocks on this tiny island is high.

Definitely not lower than but also worth to let few of us here to rant on this policy, and siao siao go back work hard to buy our own private property.

Wondering if anyone here stays in JB and commute to work in Singapore CBD. What are the options?

Tried to Tebrau express (limited seats for peak hours, almost impossible to buy online/ofline) and then taxi to CBD. And vice versa. Not the cheapest of travel mode, but at least the causeway experience isn't too bad (quite fast 15 min upon departure between 2 country immigration)

You will need to think other plan in this coming December?
They stopped selling ticket online and it can only be bought from the counter 1 day prior to departure.

Malaysian driving license - to convert Singapore license - need to take BTT test.

Is that's all?

Yes, for Employment Pass holder.
BTT + Practical test for Work Permit or Spass holder.

Anyone rent a parking lot in JB and park their Malaysia car there long term? I don't mean daily commute between SG and JB, I mean long term parking e,g. those in Condo.
Any clue where to search for it? Been looking at ibilik, seems no one is letting their car park lot. Is it really that rare as demand is too high?

Thinking to move my car from KL and park at JB, spent too much on bus/flight every time going back. Thank you.

Few numbers of carparks near to JB CIQ.

Sure you can, cover up your car if u going to park at the open carpark. The one near the roundabout / TNB substation. RM200 per month if I recalled correctly.

The one inside the CIQ building is full every day I suppose.
