Wow, I think my expectation is too high already. 3,5k is around 74% from my current salary dollar to dollar. Anyway at least I have some hints what to put.

Salary offer in Sg is not too high actually. I notice most of them work out very detail JD, it specified skills, domain, product, in a way that very detail. U can put high unless that position is exactly what u have been through.

yeah, i already scavenged through jobstreet and there are lots of jobs that i feel i can apply. graphic designers, 2d concept artist, draughtsman, etc etc... i'm excited! should i just go on a limb and click "apply now"? i'm still at my parent's house in taiping, need to renew my passport and generally still having a lot to learn about this whole adventure i'm about to jump into. what if they call me for an interview and i can't make it? i could be banned from jobstreet.  sweat.gif
yeah, i heard that the construction industry is slowing so that must be it. i got an email reply last week asking if i'm willing to work for free.  sweat.gif

they are going to put a remark to your profile, people might know that this person is not serious and wasting their resources and time to arrange the interview for u. Make sure that is the job that u want before click apply

single life is dry n boring, no matter where u r, even at the home country surrounded by childhood friend, it would be the same also. Looking at friends get married, they have fun raising up a kid, sometimes I jeles also.
Look back at the college life, so much fun n joy.
Not because of u're away from hometown, it is because u're at another stage of life.

Now, i bring my MY bikes and pay the $4 daily VEP and keep it inside SG. Yes, it cost me another $120-ish/mth to keep the bike but its worth it. Atleast i can jalan2 when i'm bored. Less time talking to the walls...

I thought something happened to Amazon Web Services.

QUOTE(Frank3 @ Sep 1 2016, 04:27 PM)
Company just change the policy and remove AWS. My company also remove AWS during 2015... but lucky they divide it into 12 months and increment to our month salary.

For example (My company):

monthly salary is 3000, after AWS removed, 3000/12 = 250 will added to your monthly salary, become 3250..

Bad for new joining staff who doesn't entitled to AWS.

I was there to took bus home last Friday, I chose Transtar, I was so dumb to realize the auntie is actually selling me ticket from another bus company Pacific express. The ticketing auntie is such a dishonest asshole in a way she deceived me by not convey that the bus she sold is not under Transtar, she made a call to pacific express.
What's more worst is the actual bus that I got in is not even belong to Pacific Express, that's a 3rd party bus instead. It took me more than 6 hours from Sg to TBS. Because it stops in Yong Peng, drop off passengers in Melaka.
And my seat was at the most last row in the back of the bus! The 6 hours massage chair like experience is unforgettable. And the auntie who sold me has never intend to convey to me, and I wasn't aware during that time due to fatigue.
And one thing I learnt from one of the lady who sit beside me, the only bus that has not stop in Yong Peng is St****rt, n they have their own e-commerce website to buy ticket in advance. I'm not trying to upsell any particular bus, just trying to rant the awful experience.

Go to Golden Mile after your interview. I just booked a ticket to KL last week at the last minute, so many seats left. There are so many providers to choose from: 5 star, transtar, etc. Cheapest is SGD$18 to KL, the one I picked was SGD $25 transtar.

Use this website to check the timing or book online. http://www.easybook.com

I actually bought it from their direct shop in Golden Mile complex, bangwall.gif
No clue about the chances of getting it, that position is more or less what I been doing in the past, somehow the pinoy i'viewer seems prefer someone who has software development background, although that is a consultant cum support role.
The pay isn't high actually, there is a ceiling for that role.

QUOTE(missDC @ Sep 4 2016, 09:51 PM)
What a terrible experience. That Aunty is bad, best to be 100% sure next time. Transtar has its own shop in Golden Mile, so you can Google it next time should you need a $25sgd ride to KL. It took around 5.5 hours to 1 Utama.

More importantly, how was your interview?

I'm in a dilemma, and I need some advice. A foreign bank has offered me a software tester (black box) role, offer is quite good in term of salary.
Same time, I applied to another foreign insurance company (Project management role to handle all sorts of projects including software and insurance products, non manager level), but the result can only come out by next week. The manager has given positive feedback to my application, however the HR can only disclose the result by next week. Salary is SGD 60.00 higher than the bank offered.

As the date of commencement is very close, I need to reply back to the bank.
Both roles are non manager level, compare software testing (banking) to project mgmt insurance company (system & insurance products), which is the better way to go for? confused.gif

Thanks in advance!

Do check on the benefits provided as well...
My first job is in an international bank...
Totally different experience than in insurance field...
You will have opportunity to travel abroad, the working culture is different, benefit is better, amenities are better too, a lot of events...
If you have yet to try any international setup, I would recommend you to try it...
Just give a reason to delay the dead line to reply them...
Then compare the package...
And compliance is tight too...Be aware and you will be fine...

Thanks for the advice. wink.gif
Already delay for a few days, now it's very moment and I need to go for the paperworks.
benefits from both sides seems to be no different. And Software tester seems to have no travel opportunity most of the time.
IMHO, I think software testing gets more career advancement, as he gets to test on all processes like ATM, bank statements, new software applications. I think software tester in bank has more opportunity to transfer his skills to any company, right?
On the other hand, PM role in the insurance company required high degree of education and knowledge of business processes, and ability to articulate system architecture. Drafting user manual is also part of the job scope.
Someone in a dilemma, and need more experienced sifu to advice. unsure.gif

personal view , anything management related always > pure technical like software testing

Well don't blame me if I gv wrong advice

This is make sense thumbsup.gif
A lot managers being kicked out from the MNC just because of office politics, they end up in some small company do sales, n they jump from company to company in their late 40.
Technical career is different, specialist with very rare skill and good portfolio can get 20k++ salary. e.g. Information security...
IMHO, manager is just a title, not more than someone who has that skills and knowledge to coordinate among teams. Open up the job board nowadays, I saw companies are hiring specialists rather than manager position.
As a newbie, I haven't come across, and I might as well listen to experience from people from all walk of life. notworthy.gif Pardon me if I'm wrong.

one quick question, direct employment or outsourced company?
i'll avoid outsource if i could, and go for direct employment.

a lot of software testing is outsourced, and those are like what you described, no travel opportunity.
direct employment would usually have better pay and benefits, while outsource company usually just comply with the minimum stipulated in MOM's labour law.

Outsourced permanent job. Hopefully to gain more experience in banking, of course direct employment is far better in term of benefits and job security. Under no choice, this is the best option I presumed.

that is still an outsourced contract job.
if the client company terminates the contract, it is very highly likely you will lose your "perm" job also.
there may be sweet talk such as when such a scenario happens, they will find a new placement for u and things
I would advise u to ignore them and treat them as empty promises.
when shit happens, almost all just cover themselves and leave u alone.

Childcare vs maid at home - two different things, some housewife prefer to send the toddler to childcare for the sake of learning, kids are better to learn in a group
