It is unlikely that the fed will raise the interest this year as they have turned from hawkish just last quarter to dovish this quarter. But you will never know if they flip-flop again.

Gold, precious metals can be bought when you expect the market to bearish, otherwise when the market is back to normal or bullish, these don't hold much. Buy some but not a good idea to keep too much or >30% of your portfolio.

30% in precious metals? wow...that's....extremely high risk.... laugh.gif

I am not suggesting that he buy 30% but definitely not more than that. Well, I guess that should be the max limit for that forumer who seems to be very bullish about metals...

China current account deficit could give profound effect.

Yes, I don't deny that but are you aware there was a sell off in the China market last year and compare that with USA market which still holding well. As usual, it's the USA market which dictates the movement of other markets.

China has potential credit bubble if I m not mistaken.

I don't know about the credit bubble. The HSI index is not very overbought. The fall ended at the end of 2018, and now as if the market is recovering.

You are spot on rclxms.gif . I am 'bullish' about China but in the long run..

However, thread carefully this month of March as there are too many big events happening this month which could possibly lead to market drop or increasing market volatility i.e. Brexit deadline, US-China trade deal (still not finalised despite the news), OECD cutting growth outlook, indecisive Fed..

News came out, the Chinese delegate cancel the farm visit because Trump doesn't need a deal now.

Here we go again..    rclxub.gif

The US market actually dropped at about 1:22pm ish US time before news picked up and reported on this.

Having witnessed the charts dropping off, now I understand why they said markets are very efficiently to react to insider news before they are being reported.

Likely a tactics to pressure china on trade war negotiation. If dt is successful, he could use similar tactic on e.u and other countries.
*
Maybe, but aides close to DT view U.S. investments in Chinese companies or on China's exchanges as meaning that Americans are unwittingly giving financial support to China, their technology & economic rival.

Also they believed that the financing have helped spur China's economic ambitions and technological advances. This may not augurs well if they press ahead with these hardline mindset.

no deal details yet....
apple reached all time high....
*
The deal (partial only, hmmm) is not signed yet. But if notice how the US media worded their headline, you would thought otherwise..

Whether the deal is signed or not later depends on how DT perceived if he is gaining an upper hand, not just in trade war but also his impeachment... He could reverse this optimism anytime.

Yes...amazing parabolic movement, perhaps due to short squeeze.

The recent tsla price surge is likely work of elon musk and his friends to counter short sellers, and the rush of fomo herd. when and how much it will return to is all sentimental.
*
I am only awared that it's the most shorted stock currently and hence the price increase due to short squeeze and ok, perhaps also FOMO as you mentioned.

How do Elon and friends counter short sellers? If they could pull this stunt, isn't it some sort of market manipulation?

Some economists have cautioned that the impact on China's economy could be severe — a troubling prospect for an already fragile economy, and for global growth. If the Coronavirus headcount doesn't start to improve and the Chinese economy deteriorates more than expected, it means the sell off in the stock markets will continue.

But that will also mean that China will deploy their ‘national teams’ with hundreds of billions of dollars at their disposal to defend the stock market.
*
The 'Plunge Protection Team' PPT by China seemed to work for the Monday sell-off and most chinese stocks turned green the next day.

Nonetheless agreed with the bold fonts above, cracks begin to show in some of the stocks which are affected. How much longer can they keep deploying the PPT as almost 70% of their businesses are affected and not open with migrant workers having difficulties coming back to work next week? It will be interesting to see how companies resume operations next week 10 Feb. I think it is too optimistic to expect everything resume to normal but let's see..

China Is About to Find Out Whether Its Mass Quarantine Worked
“This is more and more like flu, which is like trying to stop the wind.”

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/202...nd=premium-asia

Let's see if China declares the lifting of the cities under lockdown for businesses to resume operations by next week.

Oh, Apple rallies abit on news that the suppliers resume operations on 10 Feb sweat.gif

US stocks rallies easily on every slightest news, they have PPT in place since last Sept 2019 tongue.gif
