With all these boo haa about Brexit, it is interesting to know some of the pros and cons about it.

Have you guys watch Brexit the movie?
If not, just search on YouTube, Brexit the movie, it's like 70 mins long.. watch this with popcorn and soda while
we wait for the real thing to happen by Friday and see how the market reacts. cheers.gif

been reading a few things about brexit/bremain.

the politicians and biz community wants bremain; common/poorer folks want brexit.

latest polls too close to call.

can see futures and oil price are towards the upside, i.e. investors are banging on bremain.

but we will get a realistic assessment of the risks investors are willing to take towards market opening later.

a couple hours before the vote results are known and towards market close, at 3-4am, we should see major volatility as the stocks, fx and commodities traders will be doing some frantic buying and selling. biggrin.gif

even last night, wti went from 50.50 to 48.50, then to 49.50 this morning.

too bad, no euro2016 match to keep me up but still, i will probably stay up until market close.

there should be plenty of opportunities to trade! laugh.gif

i am prepared for a brexit vote. if bremain, never mind.

brexit it is.

seeing the movements since last night, the markets were probably too upbeat and overly eager to push everything higher for bremain.

so, the correction tonight and next week may be severe.

get your cash ready. tongue.gif

dow futures -700.

wti -6% at 47.

lesson - markets can get it wrong! biggrin.gif

Brexit: How did this just happen?

The betting markets were misinterpreted

One of the biggest reasons that traders were complacent about the possibility of a leave vote was that the betting markets, which are often believed to be more reliable than polling, suggested remain would carry the day.

Pippa Malmgrem, the author and economist, argued that these results were skewed by those betting on Remain placing larger bets.

Bookie odds were skewed by the larger bet sizes by remainers (£450) vs leavers (£75). Majority of bets were leavers

Guess those SPY puts I bought were a good decision in the end.

Bought and sold some BARC this morning (LSE) , quick in and out (well, about an hour)

in normal times, such news will have oil bulls pushing wti up by $1.

not today...

US oil rig count falls in 1st decline in 4 weeks, down 7 to 330: Baker Hughes

becos u saw bremain and not brexit?

i was not convinced of bremain as the politicians and media were overhyping "how bad it will be for you if brexit".

the carnage continued until end of the day, will likely continue next week.

had put some money on dwti the day before, even early last night.

took 1/2 profit, still holding 1/2.

stocks and crude are not going anywhere anytime soon, imo.
