So buy what now? SPY? SVXY? Time to long markets. At 50 percent, S&P could hit 3,000.

Depending on your appetite.. Diversify into few industries
Leisure + Gaming = LVS, MLCO
Bank = LYG, KEY, BAC
Housing = BZH, HOV
Precious metal = AXU, AUY
TECH = NOK, TXN
..etc ..etc Do homework first before make up your mind..

Still got people buying NOK? Usually when targeting a basket of shares, ETF is preferred, rather than having many shares. LVS, okay. LYG, been recovering well. For tech, I'll replace TXN with at the very least NVDA, higher rism appetite there and balance it with AAPL.

Overall, good prospect on those stocks in the above. thumbup.gif

NOK = got other businesses like Cloud, Big Data, Networks, IT Infrastructure, Applications ..

GE, GNW, KO, MGM and so on .. Diversify into different segments is an option..

Why keeping cash when bull market lasted for the past 9 years? Even the Sell in May / summer and go away trading adage this year also not happening too..

Banks, insurance and TECH will be usual pickup industries to watch closely during bull market..

With the American stock market already up more than 300 percent since March 2009, including dividends, these are pertinent questions.

If you realize that you can’t afford to risk any losses, he said, you shouldn’t be investing in stocks at all and this is a great time to sell. It’s as simple as that.

The classic advice for long-term buy-and-hold investing assumes that you will be emotionally capable of sticking with your holdings for the long term, and not panic and sell inopportunely when the market falls. In real-world downturns, however, many people desperately want to sell stocks, or suddenly realize that they must sell, because they need the cash.

Good reading on buy and hold long term strategy.
Should put more focus on analyzing emotion, that trigger the good decision making and action..e.g couple on investment strategy.
Husband(analyst) doing portfolio analysis, feedback to wife(finance controller), to buy / sell at what price, units, discount, premium, pe ratio, debts, core business ..etc. 2 ways comm. and opinions shared.. Will be great if one of spouse is in financial/ economy background. But got cons side, on relationship, family, matters need to separate from investment strategy + decision. I 'm in high influence during stocks analyzing with few friends during Lehman Bro, AIG news outbreaks, managed to buy few stocks like AIG, Citigroup, LVS, BZH during Nov 2008 - April 2009. Unfortunately my friends were in greedy emotion, made them selling their portfolios when reaching certain % profit... within few days, they found hard to buy back as stocks gradually uptrend till today. Why hard to buy again? Units X currency exchange rates and getting lesser units, or look after others penny stocks which, very slow gain..

During my trip to USA in June, during townhall session, I managed to ask one question to one of the SnP CEO, on acquisition of small/ medium company to grow up company business, as own stock price was at all time record high.. Answer = do not pay premium price on acquisition, and suffer pay high cost which may takes very long period to break even, which also may bring down cash flow, or stock price value.

Sitting in cash?

Hurricane Harvey and Irma caused heavy rain, flood and many damages in Houston, New Orleans and Florida.
Homebuilder construction companies (BZH, LM, NWHM). Got many new orders to fix and provide solution?

Hurricane Jose is coming next week.

Brought your question here
*
My Company ESPP ( 15% discount at 6 months lowest price) can buy / sell other shares than own company share. You put OWN $ into the trading account,
buy shares.. Or you sell RSU, Stock Options and put into the trading act and remains in USD..
Using Company 's Etrade and Charles Schwab brokers.. For Trade King(Ally) broker, ok

Go to Fidelity Netbenefits broker website, search for contact us, email/live chat, provide accts number,
raise yr question. Alright ?

Used it more than 15years for ESPP., but limited to basic salary max 10% monthly deduction.. Accumulated for 6 months(10% X 6 months) and buy company share at 15% discount staff price for 6months lowest price..

But for personal investment, use Ally (Trade King) and others, as cheaper fee and depending on fund avail..

Imho..
Greedy will makes many peoples believing and thinking to increase /switch allocation portfolios (FD, Bonds, Property, Gold, Savings) higher towards equities..

Same goes to Bitcoin too..

Any reason why you 100% cash out USA market?
Upcoming tax reform? Or perhaps life market cycles every 10 - 12 years? E.g 1997/98 currency crisis, 2008/2009 credit crunch...

IHO 2019/2020 WW3, hyperinflation, another currency manipulation, Europe bank crisis starts from Italy/Spain, ?cryptocurrency KING+ fast expands, many countries dump greenback, Euro, franc, yen...

qtrly dividends payout already rewarded and equilibrium yr earlier capital, if you can afford to hold yr patience.

hi all, I m new to US stocks & yet to purchase any. I have an RHBInvest account and been investing in KLSE & SGX.  The charges/fee in trading US stocks via RHBInvest online seems quite high; i heard that there is also a high transaction fee in receiving each dividend payment.  May I know what are the cheaper ways to trade US stocks?    Many thanks in advance.

Hit record and many record breakers high DJIA, Nasdaq, S n P ..etc
Not a good time to trade during super peak bull market, unlike very volatile markets. Oil traders also quiet many months..

Yes, my first brokerage firm is OSK when I m in undergraduate programme, later OSK bought by RHB. Worked in MNC listed in Nasdaq, enrolled employee share purchase programme with max 10% monthly basic salary deduction, purchase MNC share at 15% discount every quarter using lowest price for last 6 months, using Etrade or Charles Schwab . FREE share option and restricted share units given, not many... Later this MNC company bought by much much bigger MNC, which paid 80%premium for acquisition.. Many many mgmt / mgr / principal staff engrs became instant MILLIONAIRE.. bigger MNC using TD AmeriTrade brokerage..

Etrade, Charles Schwab or TD Ameritrade are cost comparative. Go to each websites and understand it. Find out how to open an account for non USA citizens.. if u work in MNC, easier to open brokerage account.. I m not a trader, whereby frequently Put or call option.. Formula may go wrong, or different than expected..

My spouse stock in S n P, Nasdaq counters dividends using RHBInvest , subject to 30% tax every quarter. Will continue holding it and no plan to sell..

Many many of my friends in FB, whatapp, coursemates were using Ally Invest, formerly known as Trade KING.. Check it out, as easier to open brokerage account for non MNC employee or non USA citizens..

Buy / Sell stock in Bursa.. Ratio 1: 1
Buy / Sell stock in other markets.. profit or loss, times (X) currency exchange rates.. Take Note..

Congress - Republicans controlled house, President(Republican) and Senate - Democrat controlled house, need to sit down, prioritize, and most importantly, compromise.. Even many Republican lawmakers also vote NO in Congress/Senate to increase the debt. Without aprrovals from both houses and President signature, no debt for govt. will be increased.

IMHO, temporarily setback.. No matter how, public services need to go on DAILY, life is still going ON and public servants get paid.. Any discount bargain hunting, will be good opportunity to top up portfolio. Holding POWER is ONE of the key portion in investment, unlike traders..

Approved tax reform will be ONE of the important factor for USA market. See Amazon, Apple ..etc recent announcement.. G.Luck

Republican currently has the majority/51 seats in the Senate but budget needs 60% of votes to pass.

Amazon, Apple, etc retained overseas profits are already and mostly parked in the u.s in the name of overseas subsidiaries. Without repatriation, these companies could and had borrow against these cash to invest in the u.s, don't expect significant changes.

As long as one's funds is not borrowed, could hold as long as he wish.
*
My bad.. you are right. Senate house is also controlled by Republican .. I'm Still referring to old Senate House in year 2015.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate
To pass the debt spending, need 60 votes to clear the hurdle.. Thank you for the lowlight.
