QUOTE(prophetjul @ Jul 11 2020, 10:38 AM) You mean like tSLA? Go ahead and short Tesla then since you are convinced it will be dead soon. Tesla is not your typical auto manufacturer. There were many 'good' tech names during the dotcom era too! Dead now like Qualcom. Tesla is not only the world's most valuable car company, that's last week's news. Tesla is now valued more than Toyota, the world's 2nd largest automaker, and Volkswagen, the world's 3rd largest automaker, COMBINED. To put this in perspective: Toyota sold 9,000,000 cars last year for a profit of $6,000,000. VW sold 10,000,000 cars last year for a profit of $19,000,000 Tesla delivered 367,500 cars last year for a net LOSS of $862,000,000. The Tesla "story" is rooted in the fact that at some point in the future the fundamentals will justify the valuation.Β Β By the way, do be accurate in your posting. Qualcomm is still very much alive. Also, when stocks mature and decline from their tops, you sell and take cash. It happens to all companies and not just tech focused ones. Any investor worth their two cents would sell their laggards at a moment's notice and keep their winners. This post has been edited by bellion: Jul 13 2020, 08:04 AM |

As a chartist, the overall trend is down for all stock sectors until a free fall capitulation happens which would signal a bottoming process. Hence, if you trade on a short term basis, short every move up to resistance levels such as moving averages. pub_yu liked this post

QUOTE(Hansel @ Oct 15 2022, 02:42 PM) Look out for a multi day drop with huge volume with no support in sight. And no point catching the bottom. Itβs only one day. Look for trends and follow them. Right now the trend is down hence day trades or short term swing trades on the short side is what works. This post has been edited by bellion: Oct 15 2022, 03:44 PM |

The downtrend will only end when the Feds reverse their interest rate hike policies and inflation slows down or at least is perceived to do so. This reminds me a lot of the 1980-82 US stock market movement. Otherwise, it will only go down or drift sideways in a grinding fashion. Davidtcf liked this post

QUOTE(Davidtcf @ Oct 25 2022, 10:37 AM) bought the stocks too earlier after Fed announced tightening / raising interest rates.. should have waited. QE/QT and charts help traders and investors stay out of trouble during bear markets by giving ample warnings to stay out or make some money if you deploy the right shorting strategies. It is true the saying "don't fight the fed". next time if another tightening happens, will stop buying stocks, instead buy ETFs that short on treasuries. See how much these ETFs have went up this year thanks to the Fed: TTT, TMV, and TBT https://etfdb.com/etfs/bond/treasuries/#etf...der=desc&page=1 Davidtcf liked this post

It's still a bear market unless confirmed otherwise but only time can confirm that. Right now, I am treating it as a typical short covering bear market rally and do day trades and very short swing trades until I see a lot more constructive set ups with individual stocks.

For traders, it's vital to pick the right themes for each year. Last year was a short seller's market with tech stocks in particular being hard hit. Using technical chart entries and exits, I focused on shorting EV related stocks such as LCID for good profits. This year it has been a long market with the precious metals on fire since Dec 2022 and semiconductors although the semis have pulled back somewhat over the past 2 weeks but their weekly charts look intact and sound. QUOTE(Moneylust @ Nov 27 2023, 08:34 PM) Looks like no Santa Claus rally this year ... no happy ending, no wind behind the stock market's sails. It's all Brandon and Dowager Xi's fault. That's not correct. The US stock market has been on a bull run since Nov 3 FOMC day and after Powell's fireside chat on Friday, another round of buying by institutions for mid and small caps pushed the market up. Been a great month for me as a trader in US equities and I expect more to come. |

QUOTE(xander2k8 @ Dec 3 2023, 06:33 AM) In fact the bull run started the week before the Fed meeting π€¦ββοΈ which you have missed out at least 10 to 15% in gains not on Nov 3 Trading by hindsight - arenβt we all geniuses in cyberspace? LOL I am sure you are a billionaire by now.If you have started placing on 26 to 27 Oct you would have probably almost doubled on your gains with right selection of stocks Another example of some plebian who can miraculously allocate his or her entire portfolio at the very bottom of the market cycle and sell at the absolute top. Show us your trading statement to validate that but naturally you won't and I very much doubt you even trade US equities This post has been edited by bellion: Dec 3 2023, 10:18 AM |

QUOTE(xander2k8 @ Dec 3 2023, 02:28 PM) Do you think I am genius all the time π€¦ββοΈ as I am human yet still make trading mistakes π€¦ββοΈ Are you a trader or an investor? My recent trades are the ones that are making money because I know the real volatility is always before the Fed meeting π€¦ββοΈ not after because the hype and FOMO are the ones just like you thinking that π€¦ββοΈ because on decision day when no changes happens and expected markets are flew before that No need to circle jerk around like you know what the Fed remarks will result in and hence prove that you can front run and act as some sort of fortune teller who always gets it right. Any bum can declare they are right in hindsight. You bring nothing constructive to this thread. Where does it show that the market always goes up before the FOMC meetings? Tells me all I need to know that you are spouting BS out of your rear end. This post has been edited by bellion: Dec 3 2023, 04:35 PM |

QUOTE(Medufsaid @ Dec 3 2023, 04:30 PM) bellion just ignore. The poster is someone who claimed he opened a position in options by queuing the strike price. This takes the proverbial cake even though I don't trade options very much Till today he hasn't answered whether he traded a put or a call Like you implied, this xander fellow is a bloody fraud who doesn't have a US trading account much less having bought or sold a stock share or an option. Yet he wants to tell us all here how great and mighty he is by his perfect market timing and telling me how much profits I missed when he doesn't even have a clue on how and what I have traded. Such repugnant folks deserve to be bitch slapped big time! This post has been edited by bellion: Dec 3 2023, 04:53 PM |

It's a bull market now and I am very aggressive with my trades and recycling my capital from trade to trade.
Now is the time to make big money if you are an active trader. |
