Why the regret? Though I may understand why. It seems slow.

The TM silk screened one that I have now is FW: v2.06 HW: B1. First thing that hits me is that web interface is really slow. Haven't really tested the 850L but for now I feel the RGX4400 is a better choice. I've been using the RGX4400 at a nearby coffee shop almost everyday. It's really fast. It can handle 20-30 typical kopi shop users with no probs at all.

I wonder how the 850L holds up.
*
I not sure about the RGX4400 but the DIR-850L comes with quite a lot of features for a basic router. Not to mention some basic but usable QoS.

That's true, it's got a really nice web interface. Free dlinkddns from dyndns is always my favourite feature of DLink routers. The QoS by device look very simple to use.

Built-in AP mode selection is good for those just want to use it as an additional AP.

Shareport is very easy to setup but no FTP. It's webdav right? Must try it one day.

Lastly, they don't attempt to hide the PPPoE password. It's there when you need it.

Things I don't like about it so far. 1 x USB2 port, no FTP, no SNMP, no telnet, no SSH (but most ppl won't need the last 3), cannot change Admin username.

One day will test it to see how many connections it can take before dying. it has 128mb RAM but not sure how much of that is free.

Edit: No link lights for the ethernet ports. Why?
*
They do have Samba but the performance is quite slow. It is a very basic Wireless AC router, don't expect too much

Any pictures of the RGX4400.

Are you on 2.4 or 5GHz when the problem occurs? Some installers like to separate the wifi and some not.

In my uncle's house, the installer setup the same SSID for both freqs. My phone preferred connecting to 5Ghz and it was just not good enough for the whole house. So we separated them and connected only to the 2.4Ghz SSID and that pretty much covered the whole house with adequate signal.
*
This. Most devices do not know when it should stop holding on the 5Ghz band and switch to the much better 2.4Ghz band.

At least some high end consumer routers come with band steering now. biggrin.gif

anyone here got lucky invitation from WEBE postpaid plan?

The coverage is still quite limited. I prefer the 3 big old telco for stability and performance.

The value is great anyway, it will definitely disrupt the industry once they get big enough.

After 9 months of using Xiaomi Nano router as AP, I will bid farewell to it and replace it with Huawei WS880 tomorrow. biggrin.gif

Can I know if I can give the Nano router to my sister who is using Streamyx now and will change to UniFi soon once it is available at her area, can she use it as a repeater? Her house is a double-storey semi D and router is placed at upstairs. Sometimes the signal is not so strong at downstairs so I was thinking to suggest her to do something for her downstairs, can this be done? unsure.gif
*
Yes she can. It is relatively easy to set up as well.

Hey guys,

My parents just applied 100mbps unifi and they're using wifi since the TV is in the area of dining table on the 2nd floor and their room in first floor. (they're not strong enuff to walk up stairs)

Run some tests and found out that they've been using 10-20% of the speed from their wifi. Even after the unifi guy came and switch it to the "further channel" of the wifi (his words not mine).

So my question is what kind of affordable router should I go for?
ps: my mom hates messy cable lying around the floor (she always trip on it) , is why they use wifi
*
The Asus RT-AC55UHP is a good choice if your mom is fine with the big antennas. It is not too expensive and it supports Wireless AC which is crucial to achieve the full performance if your devices support Wireless AC as well.

Get a VPN service with server in Singapore. That's the only choice now.

Any idea what's happening? Haven't been catching up to the news. Some cable broken or routing issue?  cry.gif
*
They do not make any official announcement. It happens occasionally and now I have a Singapore based VPN on standby all the time.

can we use 2.4G Wifi 15 dbi high gain antenna booster female SMA Connector to extended wifi coverage ?
*
Not going to make a significant difference. You are better off getting a better router or setup a powerline wireless extender.

Bought TP-LINK Archer AC2600, now ground floor manage to get full speed 100mpbs.
Do you know how to set ipv6 on this router?
*
Good luck for that. TP-LINK routers do not have native IPV6 support. I not sure if they updated it.

They will tell you their policy is only local connection and international is out of their control. Get a VPN connection.
