orang melayu ada kata, kita tegur dia, dia tegur kita.  kita panggil dia, dia ikut kita.

Wanted to say this. Probably because you say thank you, it consider it an invitation. Just buat bodo. My friend one pakcik, when he come across strange happenings while driving lorry at the highway, all he said was "aku tak kacau, kau jangan kacau aku." Then he read his prayers.
Also, you got do housewarming or pray in the house? One former friend, moved in without doing housewarming. He told me one night he got so drunk, the kaw2 type of drunk, he got taken over by something that make him do backflip, like some ancient martial arts warrior. I dont know how true his story is, since his is probably delusional or schizophrenic based on our (his friends) suspicions.
And someone told me, drinking possibly weakens your chakras. I can' be 100% sure about this. Someone else said this in an earlier post also, but I'm no expert. But referring to my former friend's story, it's possible.
And dey thamby, if you see anything strange, don't itchy backside go and tegur la. Eg. You drive at kilang sawit, bau busuk, just act dono. No need to say, "eh brooo, smell that shite brooo"? and all that..
Some people say using a St. Michael's medallion helps to protect from things like these, or a rosary / holy water from Vatican, Yassin or the Taoist priest blessed prayer items. You have to ask the more religious types for opinions according to your beliefs.

But parents tell kids to say jeh meh oh niu when peeing outside. This is not one way that acknowledge their existence?

What is the meaning of it? Some Malay people give salam and say tumpang lalu datuk, etc..
Actually one time i after dating late at 2am ++ i tahan my pee until i reach home. But before reach home cannot tahan already, so i had to pee at the longkang. Suddenly i felt light headed and was (probably half) conscious because i can see the trees above me.
But i was pinned down by something unseen. It stopped when I screamed for my mother sleeping inside the house. She didn't hear me, although she wakes up easily from any sounds, and she's a sensitive also. Later i noticed that I didn't say tumpang lalu etc..
