Looking for a laptop which can handle photoshop software, microsoft office and casual surf. Does having a SSD helps in handling photoshop better than normal HDD?  Or a graphic card like GT940 is more important than storage?  Kindly enlighten me.

1. Price: Less than RM 2999.
2. Size: 14"
3. Brand: Asus/Lenovo?  Not sure other brands like Acer, Dell, HP and so on.
*
ssd does help you to open any application much faster than hdd
if you want an ssd in your laptop, buy the ssd with 240gb separately and swap with hdd and make previous hdd as a external to store your works

Hey guys, I'm heading over to the UK for studies this October, and my yenovo y580 a bit cacat aldi, so I'm looking for a recommendation for a laptop, which may or may not exist yet.

Usage: Digital Art, General Uni work, light gaming-

Budget: rm3k +-

Screen size : hopefully 17', at the very least 15' +

Resolution : as high as possible, 1440p is optimal, but can settle for 1080p if need be.

GPU: Not a huge priority, but hopefully can run stuff like dota 2 at 60fps on low-med at least.

CPU: preferably core i7, but can settle for i5.

Storage: SSD preferably, or at least SHDD (cannot tahan OS on HDD anymore tongue.gif)

Battery: Not a priority, will be staying in dorms 5 mins walk from campus, and classes lasts like, 2-3 hours. Not sure if I'll be lugging a 17' laptop to class anyway.

Touchscreen: Not needed, will probably not be used anyways

Keyboard: Hopefully decent travel distance, I like the tactile feel instead of something like a .... well, for comparison dell y7559's keys are too flat.

Weight: I don't mind lugging around a 3-4kg laptop if it has what I need smile.gif. Basically, not a huge priority. Thickness is also not an issue.

Lan Port: Very much needed

DVD: not needed

USB ports : Preferably at least 3 tongue.gif

Hopefully fully compatible with drawing tablet, but then that's an OS thing.

Was considering Inspiron 7559, before the announcement of the Pascal-based laptops (which is way over my budget), and I figured I can live for 1-2 years without hardcore gaming and save money for a desktop for gaming instead biggrin.gif)

Well, that's all I actually need,
Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

Thanks for the recommendation first of all.
But if i were to swap the ssd with the existing hdd, what will happen to the pre-installed softwares like the windows 10, and some other softwares?
Ourself have to manually install it?
*
yes you had to reinstall it back manually by downloading windows from official website then use ShowKey app to show the windows product keys
and also install the laptop driver from official manufacturer website

if you have a high patience to wait the rendering process to complete, then core m is not gonna be a problem for you

wow thank you so much for the suggestion !!!!

you even listed out all the specs for each laptop ...

waiting for the slow rendering process its not a concern for me since im just a hobbyist ... and i got one more question....

apart from the slow rendering process, will it run the lightroom smoothly ( smooth as in the lightroom itself wont feel laggy when i make changes ) ?

thank you
*
to get smooth experience while using lightroom, you can change hdd to ssd and upgrade ram to 8gb

1. Budget - RM3.5k-RM4k
2. Use - web surfing, watch movies, listen to songs, work on spreadsheets
3. Lightweight (preferably)
4. Decent battery life

Currently using a Macbook Pro (but it's been 5 years and is dying)
Contemplating to get Macbook Air 13.3" (128gb/256gb) but 256gb is too expensive and I'm afraid the 128gb is not sufficient

Any other recommendations?
