Which is what i have been stating all along, i have forum paparazzis following me around , hounding every word that i type in here. And then, they come back saying that me imagining things and thinking "what, you think you so great people want to read everything you say haaa?" Whatever, it's pretty sad that people depend on my posts for their measure of entertainment in their life.

As for the importance of porn, during the VHS versus Betamax days, the porn industry plays a huge role of deciding which format wins. Adult movie industry drives the adoption of VHS tapes and VCRs.

Yet to be seen i guess. You'll have to do a survey among adult populace whether they prefer downloadable porn or hardcopy coprn. then you also need to check with them if they want high definition porn, for those moments of pore-popping clarity of ......err.....certain body parts.

Truth is these days, both parties from the HD-DVD and Bluray camp will draw upon anything, even the significant of the porn industry choosing their format, to draw conclusion that they have won the war. Me? I let others bicker and fight while im enjoying both. Why enjoy one wife, when you can have a wife and a mistress?

Believe it or not, it's the Bluray. HD-DVD is the wife, more steadfast, and looks future-bright. Bluray is all hard and fast, but fun in bed.

Either way, both these formats are my b****es, why choose when you can have both?

It's perfectly okay to choose one format and stick with it, as long as you do recognize that there are an audience for the other opposing format as well. All this blind-worshipping one single format and hoping the other format dies are just senseless.

I'd like to mention that the story about Porn being a big cause in the win of VHS over Betamax wars is myth. Nice story but it was created after the fact (after Betamax has already lost). The real cause of the Betamax loss is actually technical - Sony opted for better picture quality at the expense of playing time. Betamax L500 tape = 1 hour only; whereas VHS in deference to American habits of taping long football games had an option to go up to 4 hours (EP play). The standard VHS tape came in 2 hours record time whereas the Betamax L500 was only 1 hour.

Most standard movies in the 80's were less than 2 hours but more than 1 hour. Likewise porn movies - apart from the 8mm shorts - the majority of the pron library could not fit into Betamax tapes (remember this was in the early days before Betamax came out with longer tapes). The majority of the pre-recorded market for movies opted for VHS (as did the porn industry). The other major blow was the fact that consumers wanted to tape shows longer than 1 hour, so they bought VHS.

By the time the dust settled, Betamax was dead, someone noticed that ALL porn movies was on VHS and took that as a fact that Porn helped the VHS win. The porn industry (as a self important gesture) threw in a few tid-bits about how Sony was rude to them when they asked for a Beta license. Voila - myth was born that porn helped VHS beat Betamax. In actuality other factors were far more significant in the war, like playing/recording time, price and giving the consumers what the wanted (not what the manufacturer decided - quality vs play time).

The truth of the matter is, at best Porn just added more kerosene to the fire that was burning Betamax in the war. It wasn't a major deciding factor but it sure did help - it also made for a nice story hence the myth.

Now as for the present HD DVD vs Blu-Ray debate, the landscape has changed significantly since the 80's Beta vs VHS wars. I believe the internet is now THE major distribution system for porn (both pirates and legally (as in pay the pron producer)). Porn opting for HD DVD (debatable since there are news of Blu-Ray porn being made) may or may not be a factor in the wars.

Personally, I think the winner here will (personal crystal ball prediction) will be based on price and availability of discs. Too early yet until we see real players (not consoles) hit the market here and throughout the world.
