Hey guys, I believe I have a serious problem of anxiety everytime I need to give public speech or interact with people superior than me. I knew everyone has it too but I am convinced that mine is abnormal. Everytime when I need to talk on the stage, i will have a very intense feel of puking and I tried all sorts of way to control it. One example is that I dont eat before presentation because I felt that it will induce mucus in my throat and forcing me to throw up. Any guys face the same issue here? If so, how do you solve it? Did you visit any psychologist/psychiatrist? kindly recommend some good one!

QUOTE(sol_badguy @ Jun 8 2016, 01:13 PM) you can explore mindfulness meditation. I use calm and can be obtained from Google Play. Thanks for the recommendation bro. But just to clarify, is mindfulness meditation the kind of meditation practiced by Buddhist?

QUOTE(ripplezone @ Jun 8 2016, 05:24 PM) It's very similar, just different techniques. Mindfulness meditation is generally a western, scientific way of describing it after university researchers began studying the practices of Buddhist monks, and perhaps other types too like Hindu priests. There are many techniques, just keep an open mind and explore which one works best for you. Don't be judgemental on which is 'better' than the other as this would be counterproductive, just realize that some may be more suitable for you personally. While there are many, in general you can start your search on the topic by googling the following: Loving Kindness Meditation (Metta) by Matthieu Ricard MBSR by Jon-Kabat Zinn MBCT by Mark Williams Headspace by Andy PuddicombeAre these books/app or a teaching? And none of these involve spiritual thingy one right?

QUOTE(langstrasse @ Jun 26 2016, 10:56 AM) TS, Before convincing yourself that you have a medical condition, why not practice public speaking - there is no other better place that Toastmasters. These guys know how to do it, and they know how to overcome the challenges. I suggest you find a Toastmasters club nearby your place, go for a few sessions as a guest, then see how you feel. If you're not comfortable in one club you can always go try out another club. Thanks for your suggestions. But i thought the point of toastmaster (or overcoming your fear) is to escape from comfort zone? Can i still learn these the comfortable way?
