The most important for me is progression. I like end game content as I'm quite a serious gamer. I would totally want to experience the final boss fight and take it down at least once.

But I'm also a working adult with adult responsibilities.

How much time are we talking about to achieve the above? 1 or 2 months? Or is it acheivable if I play casually?

I can probably do 1 or 2 hours a day gaming and lvling. Maybe 2 days of serious raid nights.

I trust my skill level quite well and I believe I should at least be an above average player. However wow is hardly a solo game and a lot of progress depends on who I end up grouping with. So... what are my realistic expectations?

i been a raider since 2005/6...i stopped about 6 years ago due to burn out (high level end game raiding)

restarted 2 months ago cos my brother assured me its very casual now and hardly any grinding. he was right..i have 2 kids now and the nites of raiding 4 times a week are long gone.

but WOW now is very very diffrent. it took me just 3 weeks with help from my brother to be raid ready

here are the big diffrences that made wow much more casual friendly

- boost to 90 for new accounts
- tokens for raid level gear and lvl 100 gear (no need vendors, no more gettting gear you cant use)
- dual spec...u click one button...u can be healer or tank, all your spells and toolbars change and your gear changes automaticly
- raids that scale..last time..if you full 20 or 40 raid party didnt show up..u were screwed, now raids scale...more ppl u have..better loot drops and boss have more HP
- Garrison, you have your own garrison with mineshaft, herb garden, JC etc...just logging in for 15min every morning, you can gather all the ores, herbs, food you need. As well as followers and ships that go out to gather gold and gear for you

they split the raids into many categories now...for pure noobs and casuals..up to the cutting edge, hard core raiders

but if you want to come in..might as well wait for Legion Expac in 2 months, everything will change again...no point starting now. Legion will have boost to 100

Yes my intention was to join legion. I'm going to watch the wow movie when it comes out with the missus, and I'l lprobably have 2 months of game time free. I'm planning to use that to evalute the game.

Well at least they made raid scalable. They have been saying they would do it forever. I guess they finally did it after I left. Are the quality of pug raids ok? Back then they were horrible. Lots of leechers trying to get in for free loot. Most raids never go very far in pugs.

they have something called LFR now...which basically makes all raid bosses tank and spank. Hardly anyone dies and its just a loot train for everyone, its just for casuals to experience all the endgame bosses.

but the loot is quite crap in LFR

for decent players, there is normal, heroic and mythic dungeons. You actually have to pass trials to enter LFG for mythic... eg you cant Q unless you get at least a Silver medal for DPS challenge (weeds out all the 8 year olds and the spastic)

i found the boss fights very very diffrent from my time (up to WOLK)....very dynamic, alot of phases, you cant just tank/spank....EVEYRONE in the raid must know the mechanics, or you wipe the raid. stand in fire..u die...dun move from WW..u die, dun debuff...u die, the healers cannot save you. alot more fun

Hi all,
im a newbie. just started playing WOW yesterday night as i got a free copy from GSC. Looking for a malaysian guild to join so that i get to play with fellow malaysian and learn along the way. Btw, i'm just a casual gamer not serious gamer as i got family and my child to take care of.

Do PM/add me Btag: Fennixxe#1134 me if you are free & willing to guide a newbie like me. Playing alone is quite boring actually.

PS: where do you guys buy game time from? i have been looking high & low but i dont see any1 selling it in lowyat forum

Np, I don't know where is the best deal, if you found one, lemme know too. I think RM100 is quite cheap.

There are different modes of play, so you will have to decide which is the "end game" for you.

If you are satisfied with clearing the final boss on LFR or even Normal mode, then I'd say it's achievable via "casual play". However if you are planning to go all the way, defeating the bosses on the Mythic levels, no, I don't think being a casual is realistic.

I used to raid with a progression guild back during WOTLK, and my schedule was more like a 5 day raid week (3-4hrs commitment per session).. and that's only on my main. We were also expected to raise decent alts in the event that they are needed for certain situations. Those were awesome days, but gotta say that WoW ended up feeling like a 2nd job to me.

unless you're cutting edge guild you probably woudn't need to raid 5 days a week. I got on fine last time with just 3 raidign days.

but anyway, i've decided to rejoin for legion. im in frostmourne haha.

i'm a pure solo casual (my guild is dead, but i don't want to leave for another guild).

For the casuals they toned down the game a lot, so for me LFR is very enjoyable despite being called "noob's party to endgame content". But hey, at least can enjoy end game content.

Getting a 'core group' is much better, and easier. If you got 5 man, go. If you got 10 men, better. If you got more, the merrier it is. It scales. And the best of it all? You can be of any server (just not cross region, like EU, Oceania, Taiwan, Brazil, bla bla, so you keep to your region) and you can easily make your own team. No need for the DKP system of the old (for the ultra hardcore trying to rake points just to prove that they deserve the loot etc etc)

and you can easily switch from the cutting edge to 'slacking off'. Heck, even i can't finish dailies, etc.

I really hated the length for the legendaries in MoP and WoD, to the point both my toons (I play DK and Hunter) never got anything done (because i always run out of time, yes, that's how casual 'plebian' I am). Legion promises to fix this.

in fact, they just introduced a wardrobe function (FINALLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYY) and that means its now finally worth doing every content even from "timewalking" (going back to the past for the raids, but not everything else. I wished it could be everything so can experience stuffs like Deathwing burning everything in Stormwind, etc etc). That'll be epic. But probably they would. There are hardcore niche people demanding "we want TBC content in its purest form, back!" and those for WoTLK, but not sure how successful their petitions were.

Its going to be content-ful, and less grindy. Which is great.

some pointers to add:
- Lvl 100 boost gives cooking, first aid (and forgot one more skill) boosted nearly to max)
- you get 22 slot bags for every slot (except bank slots) (which is great)
- starting gears that are level 650, but if you do the pre-legion quests you can upgrade to max of ilevel 700
** - if you're playing demonhunter, the pre-legion quests worldwide event can let you farm for gears + glaives that can be upped to ilevel 725 max, therefore outdoing any other LFR drops (LOL)

Now is the best time to rejoin WoW.

Legion is coming out in 2 weeks, but if you buy it now you get a free boost to 100. If you buy it after launch you will NOT get the boost to 100.

Before you boost you can do class trial, which is temporarily play with a lvl 100 toon to see whether you like the class or not before you use your boost

There is invasions now which give a lot of xp and gear, also a lot of fun to participate in.

Demon Hunters have also been released, very mobile very fun class.

Nope, because you can only buy the box after release. Only pre-purchase gets you the boost.

pre purchase bonus.

just make sure you don't pre purchase the physical copy lol.

some people did that and now they are in limbo. coz cannot get the bonus until the box comes. but after the box comes, no point for the bonus liao. so much rant in the forums about this. but that was a while back. not sure if anything changed now

I got my WOD in physical box too and I get the lvl 90 boost. So they did it differently this time?
