Hi,

Between Samsung 850 EVO 240GB and Sandisk Ultra II 240GB, which would be a better option? Sandisk is marginally cheaper than Samsung but not much comparison review out there for this two.

Mainly want to get the best bang for the buck SSD.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Using 850pro for primary disk

Then due to games not enough space to install, recently got a Kingston Savage 480GB brand new sealed from Garage Sales for RM520

You judge the difference. I should have just bought 2 Savage if I knew this earlier. Real life doesn't make any difference at all. rclxub.gif

So, it doesn't matter what SSD, most would be useful? hmm.gif

I searched around, Samsung Evo was aroung 450-ish and Sandisk was about 370-ish.

Mainly want to change my current SSD. Would be happy to get somewhat similar performance for as low price as possible tongue.gif

Considering both are TLC SSD, I would go for 850 Evo (2K write cycles as opposed to 1K write cycles in normal TLC)
Intel 535 and Kingston HyperX SSDs are MLC SSDs, so they should give better durability than both above.

For SSD benchmark, look at the 4K IOPS, not sequential. biggrin.gif

That's the thing. SSD really cannot tell the difference in real world especially for games and for light users.

Hi,

So, it's better to look for MLC based SSD, right? Will give Intel 535 a look, it might be what I'm looking for.

Thank you smile.gif

Want to pay more, there's TLC.

MLC - best in between all.

SLC - if you die die want to cut cost. biggrin.gif

Most drives are MLC i believe.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention I also have Patriot SSD and Colorful SSD. Haha, so many SSD stacking around. So far no dead SSD since 2012.

Yeah, I just bought a Lite-on 500GB SSD at a very good price last week. biggrin.gif Haven't decided which rig to put that one into.

Here are some of my SSD. https://www.instagram.com/p/BCAehmHI8gG/

Kingston on main work rig so not part of the pic, another Kingston on work laptop. Lite-On (2 weeks ago) and Colorful (Last week) are new so they're not part of the pics yet.

Selection of sata ssd is only necessary if you have specific requirements. Else, any sata ssd is sufficient (for common usage).

Between the two i prefer 850 evo because of longer warranty period.

Ehh, should be the opposite.
SLC = Cost a bomb
TLC = Cut cost

TLC SSDs have been flooding the market. Even Intel, who has been focusing in reliability instead of performance in their value line has switched to TLC in new 540 series in favor of competitive pricing. The popular MLC SSDs left in market are Intel 535 (EOA soon), Kingston HyperX Fury/Savage, Plextor M6/M6Pro, Samsung Pro series and Sandisk Extreme Pro.

You can refer to the list at hardware.fr, http://www.hardware.fr/articles/947-7/ssd.html (not sure if this is the latest but please refer to the latest one; don't forget to visit its conclusion page too)

Like other review sites, just take it with a grain of salt.

In reality, it's hard to say, because there are always exceptions due to various factors. (Eg. Wrong usage; hidden bugs; internal component swaps; production batches; models; etc.) The rule of thumb is to stick to intel, samsung, kingston, sandisk, crucial/micron and plextor/liteon.

I think the best bang for the buck would be sandisk ultra 2 because of the nCAche 2.0 technology which is used on tje ssd itself.... eventhough its a tlc flash... it has the boosting technology something using simulation slc for 10gb .... u can try google it around .... in this technology they can reduce the wear on tlc flashes....besides der is many features on this ssd as well as the software support they are offering...maintenance , optimization and stuff ..the benchmark also shows stable speeds... and u can get it for 246 at lazada .... use coupon raya to get rm50 off ..850 evo is quite expensive and u nid to fork out aroubd 400+ for it..... ive js researched about this sandisk ssd and many review calls it as mainstream ssd ..... many users tells good things about d ssd too ..... again google it for more info on it ... i hope my somewhat poor guide might help u out....do correct me if im wrong at some point .....✌
