Played the game for quite a while tonight

A very solid remaster so far , things still look very fresh even compare to the original FF12 running on emulators . The lightings look dramatically different(and better imho) beside the obvious texture upgrades .

Doesn't look like it does much for the PS4 pro though , FPS too is locked at 30 but very stable so far.

Love the new job system , one of my dislikes of the original game was everyone end up to be identical in skill builds towards the endgame . Now you can choose 2 unique jobs where you have way more to plan and give each character a unique purpose .

The trial mode from FF12 International make it in the game as well , so one more reason to play it if you haven't played the FF12IZJS ver. And remember those annoying condition to fulfill before you can summon the Espers , they are now fully controllable biggrin.gif

Must-buy imo if you were a fan of the ff12.

thanks for your suggestion, I will replay this game tonight and change to Shikari tonight.

This is a more diversified party combination , assuming you are planning to use every char and every class to their fullest.
Not to mention they also don't conflict with the summons . Each of them serve a purpose and do extremely well in their roles .

Balthier: Foebreaker/Shikari - Zalera
( No explanation required , Very OP & breaks the game , your genji glove user #1)

Ashe: White Mage/Machinist - Famfrit
( A healer with huge HP Tank and Hastega + 3 x swiftness , decent damage from guns when she's free, what else do you want from a healer ) ?

Vaan: Bushi/Knight - Mateus, Hashmal, Ultima, Exodus
( Another very OP combo with Katana , maximizing the output from Mag / Str , genji glove user #2)

Penelo: Black Mage/Monk - Chaos
( Access to very high end White magics as well , coupled with a lot of HP and swiftness , the best magic caster )

Basch: Time Mage/Uhlan - Zeromus, Adrammelech
( Time Mage by itself , is already an awesome class . Very versatile , from dealing damage at the frontline to providing utilities for the party )

Fran: Red Mage/Archer - Shemhezai, Cuchulainn, Zodiark
(Burning bow to boost the Red Mage 's Ador , with 3 x swiftness and item lores , the most efficient Jack of all trades in the game)

Things to pay attention to :

Male characters have more effective attack animation in the game and since you get 2 genji gloves , make sure both of the wearers are male.

You can now spam magics whenever you want , in the old FF12 when you cast very strong magic, you have to wait for the animation to finish before the next one can take place , now they happen simultaneously ! No more spell - queuing

Well, I'm going on a slow pace. I didn't spend that much time on it. Most of the time I just leave it there and go out or doing something else. Oh, and talking to NPCs. Some pieces are just witty and funny. laugh.gif

Anyway, saw you via online and it's FFXII. Nice!  laugh.gif Eh, how do we get to those that are out of he license board? Seems couldn't get to it...
*
They are made available by the Esper nodes , which is why it is important to have job diversity to avoid overlapping as you don't want them fighting for the same Esper nodes .

Different job gets different unlocking bonuses , for eg : Mateus Unlock Curage , Regen , Esuna and cleanse for your Knight , effectively turning him/her into a Paladin however jobs like Red Mage gets nothing from her.

why so funny it release in Eng/JP and Chinese/JP, don't make it at one version?
*
Games release in the Asia ( R3 ) tend to have different versions , like Persona 5 too have a a Eng / JP and Chinese /JP ver , the trend has continue for a long while.

Also mostly because they have different release dates , the fact that Chinese / JP has the same release date as the Japanese version , which is 2 days later.

I think you have spent too much time training from the start ( which can be good and bad )
Good things are your characters are evenly leveled so you can switch them in and out without having to worry about the stats gap too much .

In this version of FF12 , a lot of the contents are gated. For eg : You can no longer get your Zodiac Spears early , ( the weapon is also nerfed ) , You can't get demonsbane from defeating both demonwalls as well , the dragon mail and several powerful items have also been removed from Barleim passages. You can still get Deathbringer , but its attack power has also been tuned down.

The developers clearly do not want you to get overly powerful before you reach certain points in the game.

So you can grind all the exp You want , unlock all the abilities early , but you still won't have most of the gears or to learn the powerful techniques and spells until very late game. Of course these are merely recommendation , if you enjoy exploring the massive world around FF12 who is there to deny your rights to do so ?

How do you survive without healer?
*
Party members are way too high level for its current content . The mobs can barely scratch them. I had originally reached the end game at around level 40 ish.

Personally I wouldn't recommend anyone doing this , because unlike the old FF12 they have put in a lot of restriction for people to farm overpower gears from the start.
If you check the loot table for IZJS , a lot of powerful weapons / armors have also been removed as well , such as all-famous Barleim Passages farm

Later in the game once you start getting your Double EXP and Double AP amulet , you can get lvl 99 and max out every ability from 2 jobs in an hour.

Wow you guys sure are fast... I'm still having my own sweet time in the very beginning where penelope join the group to look for sunstone. I'm a kind of person who wants 100% complete. ( Getting all key treasures ) But problem for me now is, I always scout the entire map first before proceeding to another map, though I know those treasure will respawn anyway.

There is a walkthrough guideline in youtube that is quite useful. Not applying any licenses until specified time to become master save. So later if I suddenly want to play other licenses, I do not need to replay it all over again.
*
The game is a nightmare for completionist . Aiming to get all the treasures and the " best " weapons are just futile .
Some of the "best" weapons have less than 0.0001% spawn , translating into gameplay time you would roughly need to spend 5000 hours ( 1000 hours + on 4 x ) to obtain it .

QUOTE(feedmyspitz @ Jul 19 2017, 12:07 PM)
This game used to be my favourite game in PS2 era. Now I am looking for used version... RM200+ is too expensive for a remastered game..
*
If it was your favorite game , what's wrong with spending another 200 for it ? This isn't a simple remaster , some of the textures were remade from scraps , they weren't just a simple upscale. The addition of 2 new job system give a whole new level of depth to the world , beside the revamps and addition of the NEW Utimate Weapons in the game , not to mention they have gone as far as to rearrange all the treasures location , which means most of your old FF12 guides and treasure map can't be used for this edition as well.

QUOTE(Joey Christensen @ Jul 19 2017, 12:52 AM)
I've maxed out all of the characters License Board. Nothing much. Anyway, one question though. Which one better to be equipped?

Thief's Cuffs: Enables the theft of superior and rare items.

OR

Diamond Armlet: Search the deepest recesses of chests, coffers, and the like. This item has immune: Lightning.
*
Thief cuff when you are hunting for loots for Bazaar, other time Genji gloves . Diamond armlet is mostly useless unless you are walking around Cerobi Steppes looking to spawn some of those exceedingly rare gears , the time you have spent on leveling could have nett you a complete set

Lucky me i got this early...
*
Yes , very lucky . There are also all sorts of youtube videos claim to have 100% of getting this but most r trollings and myth.

Again most people are skipping it because the weapon does not even has a model . It hits on things before you can even see them and kill them INSTANTLY
The bow also made bosses and elites in this game completely trivial and destroy the purpose of playing the game.

The addition of new ultimate weapons ( like Mesa and Kumbha ) and dual jobs have already made the game very easy.

Oh 1 more question, where @ what mob do we have to farm for the Thief's Gloves?

I need that to farm rare items.
*
There are quite a few pairs in the game , but if we are talking about the earliest you can get them .

1 from Mosphoran Highwaste - Babbling Vale , One of the Urns has 100% to drop them

1 from Zertinan Caverns - the Undershore , One of the Urns has 25% to drop them

im having trouble with gambits.. dont really know the best action for the classes.. now im just shuffling around the gambits, easily draining my phoenix down sad.gif

vaan - shikari
balthier - white mage
fran - machinist
basch - knight
ashe - red battlemage

been googling around to find 'gambit-templates' to copy, but no luck.
*
You don't really need to worry much about gambits until you have obtained dual jobs . But heres a few good one

Ally - Any - > Esuna ( Attempt to cure any status abnormal treatable by Esuna ) , if there is nothing you can cure , they will not cast it

Foe - weak to X Element - X magic ( Use Magic X when enemies with weakness detected )
Foe - Vulnerable to X Element - X magic ( Spam X magic to any enemies around as long as they are not immune to X )

But the real question is , why did the AI keep using your Phoenix downs ? Is your character dying constantly ?
If death is not evitable , you can tell your Knight and White Mage to use the "Raise" spell instead

just got Balthier and Fran and here my character

07 Vann - Shikari
06 Penelo - Monk
08 Baltheir - Foebreaker
08 Fran - Archer
*
Vann is going to have to fight with Balthier later in the game for Bushi & Esper nodes

Vann should rightfully be Knight / Bushi ( Samurai ) He also has the most balance stats growth in the game , which makes him optimal for the best role.
Towards the endgame now , I can confidently say they are the most insane, super powerful , almighty Tank / DPS/ Healer that can do everything .
They are no Jack of all trades, they are King of all trades

Huge Magic Power ( Reaching 99 without problem )

Huge Attack Power ( 99 without much problems with Mystic armors )

Male ( Genji Glove nominees )

Capable of Healing ( Very good at that )

Learn the highest tier of heal spells ( Curaja & Esuna ) and buff spells ( Faith & Bravery )

Can Use Katana ( Katanas are buffed in this game , The ultimate Katana - Kumbha is no longer a Katana , but a 1 hand sword except it retains the same dmg Formula as Katana . That means you can wear a Shield now when using the new, revamped version of Masamune , how do you like that 85% Combo rate ? )

Tanky ( Huge HP growth + Wearing the OP Shields , 80% Evasion )

Get him White Robe ( Increase all Holy output by 50%) + Excalibur later , since so many things are weak to holy Endgame, he is basically an unstoppable cheating machine that chop everything at 40k dmg / hit , the same as the cheating Seitengrat bow except he is much more capable .

so my second job for Vaan and Baltheir should be???
*
Foebreaker most optimal set up is with Shikari as they compliment each others perfectly . Shikari can use ninja swords , however they do not get any nodes that unlock genji gloves . Foebreaker give them the Genji wearing node and 4 breaks abilities ( - def - mag - atk )

The breaks abilities are extremely useful because bosses are no longer immune to them now .
With Genji Gloves , they can effectively get up to 90%+ combo rate towards the end of the game.

Also note that in the previous game versions , Ninja swords were all dark elemental , severely limiting their usefulness since quite a few enemies absorb dark elements.
But in this version their dark elements were removed ( except the Yagyublade ). The best Ninja sword ( Mesa ) is non elemental.

Here comes the problem , you have already made Vann a Shikari, which means you will have 2 Shikari if you plan to make your Balthier a Shikari/breaker( which you should )
One of them is going to have to skip the esper nodes like + 500 HP and possibly a few other passives as well.

Of course you can explore other possibilities , but their synergy won't be as strong as this one.

I'm having slight problems in Zertinan Caverns.

As of current...

Vaan - Knight / Monk
Balthier White Mage / Foebreaker
Fran - Machinist / Time Battlemage
Basch - Archer / Shikari
Ashe - Uhlan / Bushi
Penelo - Red Battlemage / Time Battlemage

I didn't put much thoughts in for selecting their second job.  sweat.gif I think should be OK.
*
The whole point of dual jobs , is so they can cover up each other's weakness

For Eg , Knight has very high STR (from the passives ) , wearing Heavy Armors , they also learn healing abilities , but their major problem is that their Mag is too low and they r too slow, which hinder their healing efficiency by a lot.

And to fix that we pair him with Samurai or Time Mage .
Time mage give Knight 3 x swiftness passive and MAG growth passives with supporting abilities .
Samurai gives Knight the abilities to use Mystic armors which boost his Mag to the point it rivals Black Mage.

The Knight / Monk combos both learn healing abilities eventually , they basically gain nothing from each others. And to top it off , you need to give them 5 exclusive Espers , all that to make him slightly less useful White Mage .

Archer with Shikari , both of them are very fast job and neither of them r capable of using great armors , they also gain nothing much from each others.

With that being said , the IZJS ver was designed so these Single Jobs can solo the game ,you are still more than capable to beat it
The difference being , you will see 9999 flying out from your attackers instead of 40000s like the combo i mentioned above .

*
Give them to your time mage , because it unlocks Cura and Raise for them

But you have got 2 .... so one of them won't get to learn it sweat.gif

Any problem with my job combination? I was assigned two white mages in my party. So in future I can separate two groups and exchange two healers to support the team. The only job that I did not assign is Ulhan.

[attachmentid=8983043]
*
I saw that you picked , Shikari / Bushi , the complete Yiazmat Destroyer .

Bushi lets Shikari wear Black Robe and get a big boost of Yagyu Darkblade's damage, which is the Bane of Yiazmat
( The weak-to-darkness boss with infamous 50 millions Health to chew down )
Although the strongest Ninja weapon in this version of FF12 is Mesa , a non elemental Ninja blades that has a whooping 35% combo rate
As for the rest of the game, he is not as strong as Shikari / Breaker but it works.

Monk / Black is amazing

Machinist / Red Mage can work , but Archer / Red Mage is better , especially if you plan to make them cast some spells.

Knight / Archer is fine too , they get a range weapon plus 3 x swiftness but if you want them to heal the combo with time mage or bushi is better

White Mage / Time mage is not a very optimal combo , because White Mage learns the highest tier of Time Spells like Hastega too from Machinist , which is a much more versatile combo

White Mage / Breaker = ???

I dont understand why do you need to cheat , as this version of the game has already been very easy with some tactical choices confused.gif

What's the point of even playing it ? 99 millions gil and you farm that in 40 hours ? really ? doh.gif
Where's the gaming spirit bro ?

The esper , Adrammelech is in the cavern . Not to mention the mobs in the caverns tend to inflict very nasty status abnormal like disease , confuse on you so don't go in unprepared

Belial does not really give any classes really useful abilities.

I end up giving it to Vann to learn Libra , other than that it doesn't matter much.

|Any Mage + Ranged Class|BAD IDEA|
Why?
Sharing Same Advantage, Sharing Same Disadvantage
Mage do Range Attack. Ranged Class do Range Attack
Mage LOW HP, Range Class LOW HP
Mage No Heavy Armor (except TIME), Archer No Heavy Armor.
While mostly true , but 2 of the best Magician combos came from pairing White Mage + Machinist & Red Mage + Archer
These cheesy little Mages can do up to 40k dmg with Scathe , Ardor and Holy spamming with the appropriate setups

To put it precisely , the Magic spells in this game have receive a MAJOR Improvement over the old FF12 .

Wall of text ahead , click to read why ( no spoilers )

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

The Red Mage / Archer combo come in mind , while they are still not as good as a Black Mage/Monk counterpart , they are only good for 1 thing -
the Burning bow ( Amplify all Fire Dmg ) + Ardor

The Ardor + Burning bow allows Red Mage to deal the same dmg as a Scathe , the Ultimate Endgame spell you will be spamming as a Black Mage.
And unlike Scathe , Ardor is fire elemental spell . Which means its damage can be further amplified by casting OIL on enemies /bosses , surpass Scathe in raw Damage.
( Which is also its weakness , watch out for mobs with Fire Immunity )

Now moving onto the White Mage + Machinist combo , beside the great amount of HP nodes and consumable talent ,
the Machinist can learns Hastega , one of the most crucial and important buff for your characters .

This effectively making your White mage the Ultimate Buff Guy in the game , as you do not have to switch over to your Time Mage to buff the party or waste an accessory slot.

Your White Mage can also wield some of the end game Gun like Fomalhaut which can do some decent dmg without getting too close to the enemies .
If your white mage is one of the girls , she will most probably reach 99 MAG in their 70-80s where she no longer need to rely on Rod/Staff to boost her Mag

Grats , give yourself a pat on the back , it wasn't easy . I was slacking off on the platinum until a few days ago too. Getting all bestiary and all Quickening scenes probably took the longest.Black Hole was sort of dicey to get .

I didn't realize most of the super rare spawn can be gotten from trial mode and farm them the hard way as well . The trial mode 100th stage is definitely a major challenge added to the game
