ok... english...
What is ur first language? Writing is very crucial especially when u want to further study in tertiary level or even though in working field. But y must u mix up english usage with ur thinking? Act, I know every could be a good writer, (if u r writing in ur 1st language). Try think this way... think the point 1st then only proceed. My teacher used to teach me to start up a writing with a point must have, of course a point, explanation or elaboration adn some example. And it's work! Dun ever think about ur english 1st, the thing is whether or not u dare to write more... The moment u can write... the moment u will feel confident... My advice, write as much without thinking of the grammar usage (Dont mistaken, Im not saying to IGNORE the grammar, just for u, the first step is to practice writing.)
Trust me, when u r surrounded in english environment, (eg u r in university), ur english would be better than expected.

TS,
I find that it may be important for you to pick up those grammar books if you worry about grammars. Look up what is preposition, what is conjunction, what is present tense, past tense, future tense, present perfect, past perfect, future perfect, continuous etc.
I had had a bad working experience. (Is it sentence correct?)
I had a bad working experience.
I have had a bad working experience.
Yup, improve from things like this.
Get to understand how each tenses work.
When everything is ready, then you start to read up other people works, newspaper, article etc. Choose something you will like so that you can hold your interest on and keep on reading. Then, try to read more variety of works, preferably from many sources. Try to identify any mistake if you can. Slowly build up the sentence. Underline/highlight some useful nice sentence, so that you can follow the structure for your further writing.
It's not that scary to write an essay even if you did not write one before. As long as you know how to write, then there is no problem.
If you think following the above poster's comment that is to write and write without caring about grammars is alright, then I have to say you will take a longer way to achieve what you want.
To build a house, you need pillars. No house comes without pillars. If you just keep on build your houses without pillars, one day it will fall. And what, you need to rebuild it, together with the pillars.
