a 5-watt midland gxt900.. 42 channels with scrambler function. got a pair for less than rm200
[attachmentid=1048227]

one pragmatic usage that i would think of (idea from others) is to use walkie talkie as a "baby monitor".. this unit has a vox-function.. so i just need to source for a vox mic and voila!

so for toting new parents... you can consider this. so when the baby cries/awake.. you'd know.. 30 miles away! *lol* (ok, that's exaggerating)

yeah.. the person who laughs doesn't know that a baby monitor can't be used as a long range walkie talkie.. but a long range walkie talkie can be used as a baby monitor.. moreover, there're other surveillance stuff that i can do with a vox mic.

... who's laughing now?
