I actually posted my comment there at PSN blog, I noticed the profile picture no longer show the "plus" sign that signify the person as having active PS plus subscription. Seems they have change something..... confused.gif

I see you bought Garden Warfare 1 instead of 2 blush.gif I think the sequel is the better deal at around RM80 because the sequel has single player mode (can still play when there's less/no more online matches) and more new characters thumbsup.gif

Again the free games are really not my cup of tea sad.gif
Blazblue- rather jaggy 2d sprite, slow movement (this game made me go back to my xbox360 to play the Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, wooo..... the adrenaline is so much better on the Capcom title, graphic also so much better and silky smooth compare to the 2d sprite Blazblue)
Pumped BMX- plenty of this type of free games on tablet, the TV time is better allocated to other more deserving titles tongue.gif
Everybody gone to the rapture- Didn't bother downloading, it has no action, no thrill, no adrenaline, no instant arcade fun..... not sure it qualify as game hmm.gif

Too bad PS4 has no backward compatibility like Xbox One. I hope future PS console will be backward compatible, we are losing great games and money every time we go thru a new console cycle (not applicable to Xbox One obviously...).

Some people may argue that we can still play on the old console for the classic, the problem is old console may stop working one day, worn down controllers, connectivity issue with future TV etc.

Current gen game also have some new problem, where games needs to connect to online server just to start game (e.g. Garden Warfare 2), this game will not run when your internet is temporarily down, the publisher server down or worst of all the publisher stop the server after a few years doh.gif Some of our current gen games may not run in the next gen/future if the game require online server authentication.

Then you'll have to prepared to pay the monetary price for that. And not just you, the entire gaming community has to pay the price. You're asking dev kits, all associated hardware and so on to be future-proof. Nice to have, not a must have.

Older tech being left behind is just a consequence of natural progression of technology.

It depends, all new consoles are more like PCs nowadays. PC generally can run many if not all old games, you don't have to buy new games just because you upgrade to newer PC hardware. Xbox One has done it with their Xbox360 backward compatibility, and it wasn't a labor intensive or expensive process. Why PS4Pro can run PS4 games directly? It's mostly about the console maker's design choices (easy/lazy route), do they let us play old games or do they get more profit by selling us remastered old games or buy similar games we love for every console generation? blush.gif

Edit: The same applies to our smartphone, perhaps some apps may require patches or updates. Heck, it could be profitable if game developer charges people for the cross-console generation update patches, it could be a win-win situation if done correctly.

XB1 runs X360 games on emulation. As it is, while they are different console generations, the media format (blu-ray) is the same. Same for PS4Pro and PS4. The difference between PS4Pro and PS4 is purely graphical.

You can buy all the oldies 80s 90s 2000s game on Steam and play them, cause those games have been redesigned for match current OS specs. The thing is, you're paying for that game again. You PAY for that EFFORT. INDIVIDUALLY, not as a collective.

Do we have PS1/PS2 games on PS Store? Yeah, they run on emulation on the PS3/PS4. But the point again, you have to pay for the games (INDIVIDUALLY) and download it on your account. It's not the same as taking your PS1 disc and chucking it into your PS3/PS4. Different formats. The games run on emulation, and back then the games with network/online connectivity are few and far in between.

10-20 years down the line, you expect PS5/PS6 to be able to play PS3 games in their full glory with full functionalities and expect PS3 game servers to be still up and functional. Who's forking out the operating server costs? Introduce a new business model where you pay as you play the oldies with online functionalists (remember you only paid once for the game and you're expecting servers to run forever), okay sure, but how much would it cost/how much do people make out of it?

hi, just friendly discussion biggrin.gif
1) Backward compatibility relates more to the cpu/gpu/RAM programming of the games, not to the medium (CD/DVD/Bluray disc). As long as the console still have a disc drive that can read that specific disc format, that is not a concern. The main concern to get a program/game to run on different hardware is all about programming, not the content medium. Heck many games are downloaded straight from internet starting from last generation.
2) When talking about server, we have to differentiate between server that make your game function (e.g. online multiplayer gameplay), with server that merely authenticate your copy of the game. In the latter, the game server merely authenticate the legitimacy of your game ownership. Imagined paying for a genuine game but unable to play it years later because the authenticating server no longer in service (perhaps the developer wound up or they simply stop their server to save cost).
3) According to Sony, they ensure that the main architecture (cpu/gpu) of the new console is same as the old console so that there's little effort needed for compatibility between the old and the newer console. So, it's about forward planning for backward compatibility.
4) In terms of online multiplayer, not all PC games require the developer server to operate online multiplayer, hence many PC online multiplayers of the older days do not required a online subscription to work, but now more and more newer games are forcing the gamers to subscribe to the developer server service to make extra profit.
5) I agree to charges for update patches made for playing old games on newer console, as long as they are reasonable. We don't expect programmers to work for free. blush.gif

Just wanna know, how do you get free games? What should I do and where to get these free games?

Sorry if these questions seems stupid....
