Yes if u want to reconnect the electric supply and transfer account back to your name.
My former office also same problem. TNB under previous tenant's name and he cabut after failing to pay the landlord for 3 months. Electricity bill comes to RM 3K. I applied for new account at TNB and they told me to settle outstanding arrears first before proceed. Called the landlord and he agreed to settle the arrears. I'm doubtful TNB will go after the former tenant and there was no forwarding address. Everything on landlord. |

Why the trouble? When you collect rental, I'm sure you would be collecting at least one month deposit for the utilities as well. And with TNB online account, you can constantly monitor the usage and outstanding bills to make sure tenant pay the bill on time or at least not let the outstanding amount exceed your deposit.

let it be your name, if they don't pay, tnb will cut the electricity..then they cabut..
same if name you change into their name.. and lastly find the trusty tenant for your rent house (the working one) |

TNB got this change of tenancy thing.. but never done it before. if you do it. keep us updated ya.
https://www.tnb.com.my/residential/my-tnb-account/# QUOTE Change of tenancy To ensure the person occupying the premise is also the person liable for the electricity bill. This is done by changing the name of person paying the electricity bill of an existing TNB account. It is highly advisable to do so when there is a change of premise occupier, to avoid the liability of non-payment on the registered account owner. For an example, you can change the account name on the electricity bill of your rented premises to the tenant’s name. The tenant will then be responsible for the payment of the electricity bill every month and the landlord will not be held liable should the tenant vacate the premise without paying the electricity bills. Where to apply for Change of Tenancy? 1) Application On-Line Customer may apply for change of tenancy by filling in the e-form via e-Application. 2) Application at TNB Kedai Tenaga nearest to your premise To change the name, please complete the New Application Form* and bring it to the Kedai Tenaga (Customer Service Centre) where your account is registered together with the following items: One copy of your Identity Card One copy of your Sales & Purchase Agreement or Tenancy Agreement (or any proof occupancy) Deposit: two months of electricity depending on the type of premises – to be paid by cash or cheque Stamp Duty RM10 to be paid at our Kedai Tenaga Processing fee of RM3.20 (including GST) Termination of Account Form/Letter of consent from existing account holder *New Application Form and Termination of Account Form can be obtained at any Kedai Tenaga or be downloaded here: New Application Form (Domestic or Non-Domestic) Termination of Account Form In the case of a deceased registered customer, the applicant must also bring along, a copy of the Death Certificate and sign an Indemnity letter. A copy of which can be downloaded here |

You can try my method. I link my rented house with my TNB app and I pay it every month once the bill out and ask tenant to pay me each month, so no outstanding and you can know the bill amount too
