It's not a limitation, just buy a HPM-70 earphones for it, remove the original earphones and use a pair of quality earphones to get more oompphh .... for a start Creative's EP630 is a good match for K800i. The lack of megabass is not an issue, you can use the EQ to fine tune the sound.
 By the way, I personally own a K800i so I'm not talking crap here, just an honest review on my phone, I have used a W800i before. If you're using better earphones, then you can switch off the megabass, the original HPM-70 earphones lack of bass, that's why they used megabass to boost the bass response. For better earphones, with the megabass on, the sound will be very boomy and distorted.
